Wonderful thing about the amiga is they re so transplantable..all chips are socketed..Nice to see another one survive..i kind of collect them for nostalgic and preervation reasons.....thanks.
Thank you for watching and you’re right that they are fairly easy to work on compared to modern tech. At some point I want to transplant my 500+ all over to a new motherboard, hopefully sooner rather than later but first I need to look at my CD32 which is not in good shape
Amigas and Atari 8bit machines are so "easy" to fix. My A500 had so many issues after been in a box for decades. With almost zero instruments and tools I managed to resurrect it by just googling the errors and searching for most popular solutions. Ataris are even easier. I guess Jay Miner's approach in his machines was so straightforward.
Cool video! loved it, Liked and subscribed. Glad you got her up and running again. Can't wait to go through all of mine and get them sorted. (hopefully).
Thank you for the like and subscribe, always appreciated. Hopefully you do get around to looking at your ones soon, especially any with a built in battery for the clock
Great video, it somewhat helped me as trying to move my old chips into another 500+ motherboard that’s been recapped as clock battery damage on the other one. Getting a white screen however if the floppy drive is removed the system boots into the kickstart hand inserting disk purple screen assuming it might be a bad floppy drive causing this, thoughts mate? Cheers.
Glad you liked the video. Sounds like something floppy related is stopping it from booting. My first thing to try is unplugging the floppy but leaving it’s power and ribbon cable connected to the motherboard and see if it boots. May be a short happening in them. Next would be to try another floppy drive if you have one you can borrow or have a spare hanging around. If you are getting the same issue then with a confirmed good floppy drive then it’d have to be something on the board itself that is only shorting when a floppy drive is connected. Please let me know how you get on with it 🤞👍
@@BillFixesEverything Update got it working last night, parts arrived so I changed out the floppy ribbon cable and power, and the CIC chip on the even socket was seemed faulty or bad so replaced that and now fires up with the gotek installed in place of the original drive. Happy days. 😎

It’s true, they are amazing designs, Jay Miner did good. Also, nice job on getting your A500 going again 👍
Great follow up video.
Good diagnosis and another classic Amiga working again. 👍🏻
Thank you. It was a struggle but got there in the end!

@@BillFixesEverything thanks mate, I’ll try that I’m also getting a new floppy drive ribbon and power cable will see what happens :)

Good video, good job! Cheers, M
Thank you and glad you enjoyed it. I’m hoping to do a follow up moving everything over to the new A500+ PCB at some point
