    Very interesting to see your troubleshooting methods using the Diag ROM. Thanks for posting!!!

    This Is great card for A500 compatibility to play most games from Gotek/floppy with a modest boost to ram and CPU. I would've loved this back in the day.

    I've recently pulled my A500+ from the attic as soon as I seen the "revenge of Varta" damage to others. Luckily the leakage was very minimal as it was a GP branded battery.
    They must not be as bad.

    Good going on soldering those SMD chips. I spend much more time trying to clean up the pins. I have to try your method of using a wedge tip and putting solder on the tip first instead of on the pins. That tapping sound... funny I thought someone was using an old typewriter... but it was rain... LOL.

    Had the same problem with pins on the used SRAM chips I had, the chip is a little too wide for that pad spacing, wish he made them longer to accommodate package variations. Did you have any luck stacking this accelerator with ide68k or any other addons? When I tried it with my ide68k+mem68k combo at first it was a white screen, then there were flashing black bars, then colors, then solid black and I switched it off. I built the 2nd one with a different PLL and it has better clock duty cycle but also frequent guru meditation, I think the problem is the clock phase which I can play with using the variable delay line chip I have. As-is that one only produced a black screen with ide68k+mem68k, so I'm thinking clock phase is worth looking into. Too bad I don't have separate ide68k or mem68k to test with.

    14Mhz wow, can you get '020+ out of it? I assume AGA is impossible.
    I seem to have fixed my PC Engine GT I gave it one hell of a clean and put heat sinks on the stupidly hot chips and it seems to have fixed the issues.

    Nice video GadgetUK164 i went out got some TF520 pcb's done from pcbway, about to build it just wondering is solution quicker then a 020 @ 20mhz for a A500 using a 512k Trapdoor + gotec usb, after watching your TF520 build btw what's the missing BOM's caps on the eagle schematic for that its blank rev 3 board out of curiously, id rather build a TF520, having hard time sourcing the XC9532XL-VQ44 CPLD atm >< :)

      I think this card is faster than the TF520 - you would need to compare the benchmarks shown in the TF520 video. I think at best the average on the TF520 was 50 to 70% faster than a stock 68K CPU. This 14Mhz card performs much faster if you can run out of the 1MB of RAM it provides.
      Your best bet for an A500 is a TF536 or TF534 imho!

    As your using 3.1 you can do a boot without startup-sequence maybe setpatch is messing something up
    or maybe instead of changing the the priority of the ram on that expansion change the other rams proirity to be lower than the ram on the new card.

    • @GadgetUK164
      @GadgetUK164  2 года назад

      Thanks, yes I am aware of that - I just wanted to create a boot disk in this case =D I did also try not using setpatch, it made no difference =/ I also tried changing the RAM priority the other way around (as I did mention in the video but you missed it).

    What about gluing the chip into place before soldering might make it easier.

    • @GadgetUK164
      @GadgetUK164  Год назад

      That can help to hold chips in position, and the manufacturers often do that. But it does mean it can be hard to get the IC off the board for repair later.

    Are there any good accelerator solutions for the old A590?

    • @GadgetUK164
      @GadgetUK164  2 года назад

      Pretty sure some of the TF cards work with it. The TF520 for example is OK.

    Can you get something to load into fast ram first to fill it then for it to quit after everything else is in slow ram

    • @GadgetUK164
      @GadgetUK164  2 года назад +1

      That's a good idea actually! You could in theory create a RAM disk the size of the fast RAM. But I think the OS has already allocated that RAM for the libs at that point perhaps...

    • @brianwild4640
      @brianwild4640 2 года назад +1

      @@GadgetUK164 yes you need someone to write a fake os lib the size of fast ram that will close on a key comb or something

    What is that fast ticking sound I can hear in the background?

      Probably the fume extractor I use when soldering!

    What about using conductive paint then after the paint has cured heat it with the tip of the iron then the problem should go away.

    • @GadgetUK164
      @GadgetUK164  Год назад

      Conductive paint would burn up when heated with the iron! Solder paste would work using your idea there though!

    would this work on a a2000

    • @GadgetUK164
      @GadgetUK164  Год назад

      At the time I reviewed it, I may have thought it might... But I suspect it won't! It didn't play ball with the A590 properly in the 500. ie. It has issue with Zorro devices I think.
