I love American Flyer Trains built by Gilbert.
Great I got my first American Flyer for Christmas 1950. I’m 80 and still have it.

This was like going to an American Flyer museum. He probably puts the TCA S gauge collection to shame. The one thing that really pulled my heart strings was Western Electric cable car. I have the more common American Flyer Lines version. Thanks for sharing with all of us.

I had a nice collection of 600 period AF trains with a few American Models. None of them were rare or expensive. But they were a lot of fun! TM American flyer fan

Bob's collection is amazing I am always impressed when we visit there. I only have a tiny amount of Flyer and can only dream of owning some of these pieces. Thanks for your contribution to the hobby.

He has some of the super rare Lionel American Flyer also. Don't forget That Lionel has produced AF for over 43 years now. Gilbert only produced AF for 20 years.

My layout is just about listening to the choo choo sound and get maybe 20 minutes to a hour
Other boys had Lionel. I had Flyer. Other boys had Schwinn bikes, I had a J.C.Higgins three speed. Other boys had a Crosman air rifle, I had a Sheridan. Even today I don’t usually follow the crowd.
This was a fun video hope to see more.

That place is a museum for sure. Too much maintenance if you don't want to sleep! I have the 24024 Katy boxcar and a mint 24419 CNR and a few mint cond. Othér items bût I haven't had them out in years! Pretty crazy being a collector.
Wow! Thanks for making the trip and sharing with us. Part of me would really like to have some of the really rare pieces, especially in the great condition his are in, but most of me wants to have equipment I don't fear to run and let others handle. I have reached the point in life that I hope I can build an appreciation for what I have and what I have done with it, that someone else will appreciate it and want to preserve it and use it when I am no longer able to. Nothing I am aware of that is within reach of an average person's "extras" budget that is made today, comes even close to the quality and durability of the trains made between WW II and about 1960.

I would look like to find a 807 Rio Grande Cookie Box, boxcar with opening doors! The 24039 Cookie Box car did not have those but occasionally was made painted. Still just as rare probably.
I have an original Keystone Camera car. The lettering on originals is irregular. I also have that 21129 and 24519 AND the set they came with - the 20470 Pacemaker. The 24016 and 24409 came with the 20450 Trail Blazer set. I have that set - all five-digit cars! I also have the Simmons set - and the Atlantic loco has the correct screw hole. And I have a White's Discount car.
Congratulations! I hope to one day have one of the 57 or 58 sets with 5 digit cars. But I am also forever grateful to have what I have.
I bought the Lionel AF Keystone Camera Boxcar 48393 in 2011. Even it is $70 new cond. now and some of the uncataloged new Lionel AF cars are worth as much or more than the Gilbert versions!
@@michaelgmoore5708 I have most of the Lionel reissues of Gilbert items. My train buying has gone down significantly over the last decade. I have sold far more train items, mostly duplicates.
I really like the 48745 American Flyer Lines red and black radio equiped, Smoking caboose made in 2013. Also the 48727 Union Pacific Bay window caboose both lighted. Gorgeous cars! True Gilbert quality.
What did you pick up? I like getting into all the minutia so this video is right up my alley and I collect Lionel.
Well...I did come home with one item...a 800 series central of Georgia box car. It is not a shelf queen and I will run it but still very nice. Also, it is the gloss black so less rare than the matte black paint.
That is a 981 CofG Austin. I have two of the Matte versions. The 24026 CofG is the 1958 version more rare than the 981 Shiny version. Those cars are among my most favorites!
I have a few 8s but I will run them if they are not mint. I have a 24419 CNR that is 100% mint and not handled by anyone but me with gloves on!. Anything used can be run by only me. I'm alone anyway so there are no kids!
Welp, did a little research in a book I have and apparently, the Keystone Camera car is worth about 3,200 dollars.

That's like finding a needle in a haystack.
It is possible he had one. It was so overwhelming I'm sure I missed a lot. And while the host spent some time with me he had other guests as well...and I was a visitor...so he was very gracious to spend the time he did with me.
You should ask to go back and do another video. Maybe he has one of everything.

Bob keeps nothing in boxés? I have only a few cars on display out of it's boxes and after doing some changes and repairs etc. then they are boxed again. I don't want anything without the original box or a reissue box. All Bob's Lionel AF has to have the original boxes or the items would have no value for me because the items are too recent and and should still have the original boxes. 19:10 19:10
