I'm purely a postwar Lionel guy, but must salute you American Flyer guys for your great trains and accessories. Fun is fun, regardless of the brand.

One of the best layouts I've seen. Immaculate roadbed and integrated accessories. The mix of AF and American Models freight cars seems seamless.
Great job guys from one who traveled the high plains from Colorado to Pennsylvania in the 80's when I visited the home folks near Pittsburgh. I wish I was back out west.
Nothing can replace that wonderful Flyer choo0choo sound.

Best close up of 336 and Gilbert catalog type consist too! Never have seen the 977 that close up running with the man showing like that. I will watch this video every time I think of it!

@@westplainsmodelrrclub110 I am extra detail oriented. Like when buy a so called clean car, I can spend 2 hours cleaning it to factory clean. That 336 , 977 consist is like the Gilbert 1956 and 1957 cataloged consists. Many collectors don't even notice a lot things changed in 1957 like 3 diget cars came in 5 diget Red, White, black boxes! Wheel rims and couplers changed too! Not to mention metal frame types in box cars, metal to plastic frames in tank cars. Some mixed up types in 1957 especially. That is why American flyer trains are so much fun. No other make of train looked as sleek and realistic as American flyer trains. 1957 Cat. Cover says the most realistic model trains ever made! Other S gauge trains are just plain boring to me and don't care for scale S either tho it is very nice. Your AF layout is one of the very best I have ever seen. An hour lond DVD should be made of it for us American flyer fanatics. Thank You!

Flyer is supposed to be the “realistic” toy train. So that is the only way 😆

The caboose doesn't look like the newer AF but maybe it is. Anything not American flyer by Gilbert and Lionel, I will never own. Great layout and the best consist I have seen since watching Carl4flyer amazing layouts. Your eye level shots are the best close ups I have ever seen. Please video lots more. I do not have a layout nor room for one. Not allowed to build anything in an Apt. Wall are thin and not strong enough to hold more than a painting!

I just bought a 44046 SF Reefer. I am closed minded on Lionels new modern stuff like those ugly cylindrical hoppers, aquarium cars, auto carrier cars, waffle box cars Yuk! That stuff is not American flyer so named, It is strictly O gauge! Lionel did a great job making the new Reefers. All the ones so far are colorful and definitely earned the Gilbert name. No other S gauge Reefers come anywhere close. Better paint and detail and not cheap and fragile like the other S gauge stuff. That scale stuff is cheap looking and the truck and wheels are junky too. Maybe you can get some of those beautiful new AF Reefers. I think you will agree with me.

It appears to be American Models code 148 track. The rail height is about as low as you can use with hirail flanges, so it looks really nice. Same track I used on my layout.
