    My version of welding is fire up the big diesel arc welder, grab a random ass rod that i have no idea whats in it, try to weld if it sticks i turn the dial thingy up and if it burns through i turn the the dial thingy down. Just goes to show you how much there is too this stuff.

    I love welding Ti. By far the most satisfying material to weld and when you have your setup correct it's easier to weld than stainless in my opinion. Flows so nice.
    With that said it's "the" material (along with Inconel) that sets the men apart from the boys cuz you gotta fabricate that shit before you can weld it.

    When tig welding Titanium I have heard to shield the weld until its cooler than 600-800F. Exhausts can reach 1200F. Why is it that they aren't damaged at that temperature? Also why is there no issue with heating titanium until it changes colors but welds are rejected if not silver or straw?

    • @precisionarc
      @precisionarc 5 лет назад +2

      My first thought, he wasn't adding filler at what most would consider a normal fill rate, could be he is wanting to ensure penetration and also wanting a flat weld. If we could have seen inside I'm guess he had 100%, which would be a very strong weld as long as he had a good purge.

    I'm surprised the merge collector wasn't welded first with the rest of the joints taped off. He's sucking lots of air. And after that weld the tube fusion with correct purge. No sunk welds or introduced contaminants. His welds sunk because he didn't have enough back pressure on the purge.

    • @jeffray9049
