- The 2011 Porsche Cayenne S Tiptronic has been completely redesigned for 2011.
The engine powering this new Cayenne is a 4.8-liter aluminum V8 which features VarioCam Plus, dry-sump lubrication and direct fuel injection. The engine produces 400 hp at 6500 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm, which is up 15 hp from 2010. Combined with the new eight-speed automatic transmission, the Cayenne S happily runs from 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds. Top speed is a very fast 160 mph.
The interior has received a major upgrade as well. Now resembling the interior of the Porsche Panamera, it's much cleaner, sportier, and sexier.
The 2011 Porsche Cayenne S weighs about 400 pounds less than the 2010 model. This weight savings helps considerably with acceleration, braking, and handling and contributes to improved fuel economy.

I like how you guys actually REVIEW the car instead of just giving the performance data as some others do. Nice job Roadfly!
Much improved. The interior design is very tight and clean, as well as the updated exterior. Good critique of the car too. I like how you actually highlighted the flaws.
even though this guy has no energy and ads no personality into his videos, i think he does a great job at reviewing the cars. he gives goods and bads about the cars. where as some other roadfly reviewers give commercials about the cars. he is by far the best reviewer at roadfly
I'm happy to see Ross Rapoport. In the past I was very harsh on him, but overtime he grew on me.
His reviews are always very informative!
Ross, you're a lot better than you think you are. Well done from an appreciative Aussie.
My parents drive it, its soooo much fun i can tell!
Why complain about an optional wheel? at least its an option. The multifunction wheel w/ heater is optioned more often on the S.
Ross-you're a fantastic reviewer! Keep it up man!
Oh! this is great, Rappaport guy is still around. Somehow he does not wear me out while listening his reviews. I just noticed cyborgninja's comment and I agree with him. Good review.
Great Job Ross. Excellent reviews. Very helpful in making my purchase decision this month.
I´ve never seen such a good Sheldon Cooper double ("Big Bang Theory")
Great review but I think you should also do some comparison of other SUVs.
the steering wheel is the optional one, the basic one has the shift panels as well as phone answer and decline button with volume and other controls on it.
@venom5809 yeah all those German car brands seem to do that, they like to charge extra for stuff that comes standard in the Japanese brands and such.
Nice review Ross. I just don't like those buttons on the wheel for changing gear on the multi-function steering wheel. Think the sports wheel without the controls is the way to go even though the paddles may be rarely used for most people.
Is a Cayenne reliable?
Can I buy a 2012 Cayenne with 130 k miles and keep it for another 5/6 years without major problem?
I just bought a 2011 Cayenne S with 85k miles and it still feels like a new car. I've done a lot of research and they seem to be dead reliable except for a few things. The transfer cases seem to fail more than average (but is debatably fixed with a $150 flush) and the coolant pipes occasionally come loose. Everything else is pretty rock solid on the 958 cayennes. There's many of the older models with well over 400K miles still going strong (even a 630K mile Cayenne Turbo S.)
ross does pretty god reviews...
Awesome review,thank you roadfly !
He's the best reviewer from roadfly. Emma sometime don't know what she's talking about and make some stupid comments.
Loooove the dash with all the buttons and The screen some day I'm gonna buy it
Ross, great job. keep it up!
I love our 2011 Cayenne S! But the 2 most important things it's missing is Air conditioning seats, and the most important is backup camera! Especially when you live in the city like me!
I have the same car as you, and luckily the previous owner opted for just about every option, heated wheel, camera and air conditioned front seats. With all the options it was $98k, so it was good to have someone else pay that :-).
Simply gorgeous...
So are you…:)
Hi guys, I really like your vids, great reviews, but it is a bit tame, a bit to neat sometimes.. Anyway, keep on reviewing please!
And that's why Porsche has the highest profitability of any car manufacturer (it's a known fact), because if you want ANY options you are going to pay dearly :S
Excellent review. I agree, Porsche did a wonderful job on performance but didn't spend enough time focusing on the usability of technology, which is required for a vehicle with this price tag.
Great review, keep it up !
very nice review
ross is the boss!
$49500 is the bas MSRP for Cayenne with a V6 engine; Cayenne S starts around $65000.
Great review
I enjoyed the review! Also don't pay attention to that Lovethecity guy he seems to make stuff up... you should see the stuff he posts on saabkyle04 and GrandprixGTP02's vids. If something is not a Mercedes, BMW, or Volvo he deems it "not safe".
I would like to know what color is the exterior and interior on the cayenne tested on this video....thnks
I actually like this steering wheel over the standard ones found on the Carrera models. It actually features shifting paddles, not the stupid push/pull buttons. It is also more pleasing and expensive looking too.
Yeah sure it is expensive as hell...but it is a Porsche, and it will do both grocery shopping, road trips, back road fun along with best in class fuel economy in one complete package. Name any other car that could do the same.
You do a nice job Ross, it's not top gear UK or 5th gear, but still good
hey, are you related to adam rapoport from GQ Rules?
Good review
@roadflytv Well, that is sort of irrelevant to what I am saying. The crumple zones on a Porsche can only take up to a certain speed of crash to stop the vehicle, while a car such a Mercedes-Benz or a Volvo has crumple zones that can withstand a head on with a semi truck. ( That actually happened with a Volvo XC60 on the New Jersey Turnpike, and she walked away with small scratches and bruises. )
Well presented
Very good commentator.
i like the 07-09 models the best
love the info
Nice description.
Ross does a good job, but Emme is the best! ;)
2:44 the driverside LED lights were not working, not good when costing so many green-backs.
What a steal. I just have to sell my kidneys...
So Ross... I see that you're married... Congrats! lOl.
Try out another jacket bro. Its getting too old and in this episode it blended with the car. As always though, amazing review. You're the reason I subscribed to Roadfly.
30 grands in options?
@Mik5OO the big fords, the expedition el top spec is about 55, including a back up camera sync and buttons on the steering wheel, and with far more luggage space. i dont see the point of buying a porsche suv that only can hold as many people as a car. the point of the suv is space and i believe when it comes to suv's you need at least 7 seats, and plenty of space such as an expedition or suburban
@ScooterGuy29 js the mulitfunction steering wheel is standard, this one with paddle shifters is an option
@AhmedAltima08 The paddle shift steering wheel shown is a NO-COST OPTION on the Cayenne. It normally comes with a MULTIFUNCTION STEERING WHEEL with a ton of buttons.
im not a huge fan of the cayenne base model but id have to admit if i had the money and wanted a SUV i'd get a cayenne turbo or a range rover autobiography
i like ur jacket
@gandini99 meteor gray metallic for the exterior, and standard black for the interior
I kinda like the Range rover sport more..but it still a sexy ass car imo
Im talking about the look not the reliability ;)
he is lightweight!
@TypeR1013 that's the best SUV you can find, with or without a family, so how can you say that they didn't do a good job? I totally disagree with you.
Porsche and Mercedes have always disagreed about what "safety" means, with Mercedes aiming for better passive safety and Porsche aiming for better handling and better brakes as a way of promoting "active" safety. If you believe in what Mercedes does, you will always be able to criticise Porsche.
Overall I like it, but I really don't like Porsche removed low range gear from new Cayenne :-( Porsche claims that 1st gear of 8 speed is "practically" low range. Ratio of 1st gear is more than 20% so it can't really compensate for not having 1:2 transfer case. Looks like new Cayenne focuses a lot more on road performance just like Infiniti FX and BMW X6 with trade-off of losing its off road capabilities. But no big deal. Nobody would take Cayenne to serious offroading anyway.
Good job Ross! I dislike the vehicle though.
30 grands of options?! and it doesn't have steering wheel buttons?!
i thought all porsches had boxers does it really have a v8
really good review but i miss a little more emotion in this one. the content is great but its not as lively as 5th gear for example. still for buyers this would be much better
me gusta ambas cosas, el chico y el porsche haha :)
I'd like to see how the Range Rover Sport compares to this.
@uneed2see it is called Trench Coat : )
...which shares the same chassis with the Cayenne, albeit lowered and lengthened.
the view from the side kind of reminded me of a hyundai or a kia
@LoveTheCity123 the 911 was the one thats tricky to drive... but thats because the heavy engine is on the cars ass so the handling can get dicey.. but to say all Porsche cars are unsafe at high speeds is just ridiculous.
Shouldn't he be in the back in a car seat?
@SonyBoy365 me too but itll grow on me just like the new bmw x3 and the jaguar xj
he does seem small, but i tried to figure out his height by comparing it to the height of the car. the porsche cayenne's height is about 67 inch or 5 feet 7 inches. at 1:59 you can see that he is taller than the car by a few inches, so i'd say he is about 5' 9" which is average. for some reason he looks so small
and i know. i have way too much time..
I cant believe you spend so much time going on about a backup camera! My Cayenne only cost 60k and it came with one!
Its an optional extra - when you buy a Porsche almost everything extra is $'s. But you have to know that going in - its the same with my 911. Going on about a backup camera on an expensive car - I would have hoped you would have done a little research - 5 mins on porsche.com shows you how much the camera is.
There are a few things that I dont like about the Cayenne (not camera)
either this guy is small or this vehicle is big
I don't think Cayenne is full size SUV. I believe it is mid size SUV.
@roadflytv Dear Charlie,
I wish you could do all the reviews for the cars. :)
I'm sorry, the more I listen to this review the worse it gets. You also go on about the multi-function steering wheel; again its an option!
Buying options sucks! Yes, but if your willing to pay for an overpriced SUV with the batch, then yes its a tradeoff. THAT would have been a fair criticism of the car - not rambling around because of a lack of a particular option.
What use is the video to someone who wants to buy a Cayenne and already has the steering wheel And backup camera optioned up?????
He is schmall..Just kidding, love your reviews
@cold02rex Infinitiy > Porsche? are you KIDDING?
When you go tell your peers that you drive an Infiniti, some of them may go, "What is that?'
When you go tell your peers that you drive a Porsche, they all go, "oh, a Porsche!"
@mrchen1211 Maby it will be a little faster than the Turbo but it's cheaper and no German...
@cold02rex
same
The reason why there are no steering controls is because no one fucking uses them, and the Germans know this.
Why not just a Touareg? Same truck, lower price
@whiteandnerdytuba OK, forget the ford, it's completely outclassed by the Porsche (while it is more spacious, if you need practicality and space you wont get a Porsche, you'd get a Renault espace, or whatever equivalent of that you get in the US). You buy the Cayenne because you want reasonable off road capabilities, a big, tough car and most importantly you want a fast, near sports car performance
I think the previous generation looks nicer.
@Mik5OO only for german suvs
Porsche's price gouging of their customers and charging massive amounts for items that should be standard is just offensive to me.
It just shows a lack of respect for your customer.
You would be much better off with an Escalade or Infinit QX56.
@LoveTheCity123
Your 1st comment made me lol, thanks
It takes him a great deal of effort to push a button???
I'd rather see Jessi in ALL the videos
i prefer the pink head presenter she is better i fell like watching james may do a car review
@cococly I honestly dont drive cars for status above personal priorities and individual gratification. Im not very.... how you say.... suburbanite.
To add, this guys is accurate, but has no personality so im going to assume thats why we dont see him around.
Interior upgrades in Porsche are due to Audi taking over and influencing design.
man just let it go every minute there are no buttons on the steering wheel
65k that's actually quite cheap
omg r u driving a tank, theres so much space, how tiny r u
@bonespg1971 Porsche is way more reliable than any Land Rover.
Porsche panamera.
@Supcharged The person is like 150cm
