I have a significant vision impairment, and seeing certain motions on displays can be extremely disorienting for me. I bought this display on sale per Optimum Tech’s recommendation and it completely fixed my issue. I went from being confused why I couldn’t consistently track in games despite having good mechanics, to what feels like completely natural motion. I cannot recommend it enough.
Truthfully, I came from a 1440p 34" 144hz ultrawide to this. For me personally, I prefer a smaller screen because I don't have the best eye-sight, and I was slightly worried about the 1080p. At first I did notice a downgrade but nothing you don't really get used to. If you're into competitive gaming, and do college work as well as other stuff such as video editing, and graphics and you're coming from an ultrawide I highly recommend trying to switch over. The biggest issue I have with larger screens (27"+) is the amount of eye movement and head movement I have to do. Loving this monitor and pairing with with a 1440p LG 24" in portrait mode!
As always, great review! 7:21 I'm quite confident in Acer using some sort of overvolted backlight for the XV252QF, brightness with VRB Normal + what I assume is 60~70% off duty cycle is just too high for Acer to be using a standard backlight, this is great and I hope that more manufacturers will pair overvolted backlights with strobing. Before the Acer, Zowie was the only manufacturer that I'm aware of to have used overvolted backlights (If I remember correctly Qisda takes AUO panels and install custom backlight, Qisda also owns Zowie).
Does that mean I have to turn max brightness off to set VRB to normal? I have been working around the settings and most of the times I few like VRB don't really help, I rather have it off and play with HDR color for better immersion.

Hey bro, I've had this monitor for a while and recently a friend bought another acer 144 hz model, we were configuring the colors and his monitor had the option to save the settings in: (some mode) but my monitor that is 390 hz doesn't have it, I can save the settings in some mode but the color settings don't save! can you help me?
This monitor is also able to overclock to 400hz, there's a hard-lock limit after that though. Requires some workarounds and disabling the OC mode (custom res in CRU) but free refresh rate is free refresh rate :D
Ok although I highly doubt someone is actually going to find this useful, if you want to use adaptive sync on this monitor for lower refresh rate gaming but are sad about the fact that overdrive is non adjustable, you can use CRU (custom resolution utility) to bump up the LFC floor to around 170hz, achieving a single overdrive experience,

I bought this monitor after watching this and optimum tech's video, however I'm sorry to say that I don't agree with any of the points mentioned in this video after using it for a week, firstly, this monitor is completely buggy, it has a weird flickering issue when connected with HDMI, tried everything but this doesn't seems to go, checked online there are many users facing this issue with this monitor so it's not just issue with my unit, secondly the VRB in Valorant gives me headache as it introduces a weird microstuttering, I have pretty decent config and I get around 400-500 fps in Valorant but with weird looking microstutters which I think is because of the crosstalk, the stutters are completely gone if I use the GSync but then it completely defeats the purpose of buying this monitor on first place, if anyone has solution to this one please let me know or else I have no other option but to send it back :(
1080p monitor are garb*ge, i actually have the XL2566K, the monitor are not smooth at all comparing to some 1440p or even 4K with Freesync Premium Pro, DyAc with 360hz is good but it's hilarious like how reviewer like this lying about strobing performance and take a picture about "perfect" strobe ufo while its just a small area at the midle which is "sharp" but bottom and top have A LOT of image duplication, like, the tons of crosstalk that have the XL2566K even with the best parameters/with blur buster utility is hilarious and counterproductive, it perform less well than previous Zowie. And Acer 390hz do that sh*t also ? I think these monitors are overated and only for cs:go/valorant kids. For me, only the XL2566K/XL2546K is a "good" choice for 1080p but never 1080p again for me. I play better with 4K and 1440p monitors if you use your PC for other thing than playing FPS like valorant or cs:go, 1080p is just garb*ge now. I mainly play Apex Legends at high level and i don't understand anything on these monitors while some people said that it's only the good choice...XDD What monitor do you have today ?
i have the same monitor for 1,5 years and i have a good pc so i run 390 fps capped and you have an big advantage but wouldnt recoommend when u have low frames must have atleast 390 stable bc u will not need this monitor and its kinda pricy
Adaptive sync is pointless on 240hz and above. Just set the monitor to max refresh and v sync off. No tearing can be seen at any fps anyway and the overdrive at normal will look good at all times.
@@re4796 If your monitor is always running at 240hz or above whatever fps you are getting tearing is not really an issue. 144hz monitors and the tearing is pretty horrid. I just leave my monitor at 240hz with v sync off and even if i'm gettimg 85fps it still looks excellent, that way you use the best overdrive setting and forget. As g sync etc matches fps to the hz you can end up with bad response times at lower refresh rates so why do that if tearing is a none issue anyway.
@@theoldpcgamer77 literally just cap 2 frames under refresh rate and you'll get all the latency and mouse interpolation benefits of G-SYNC... and tearing can still very much be seen at 240Hz.
This monitor is garbage for that price: Crosshair markings = useless and you can't change them (some weird crosshairs that take whole screen and no simple dot). Profiles = can't have VBR on. You will always have to set it every time opening PC or changing profiles because it disables itself each time. 390hz = it doesn't exist. The screen turns grey and buggy if you try to enable it. I'll post this everywhere so other people don't buy this shit. Just get benq...

If u want 25 inch get the 165hz Acer nitro, if you want 24 inch get the 144hz AOC monitor.
Why Xv252q refresh rate is 239, not 240 ?
Is it safe to overclock it to 390hz? Will it do anything in the long run
yes of course it's safe
I just bought the monitor and am noticing some screen tearing and artifacts has anyone noticed this before?
Same for me, did you solve the problem?
it flickers like hell bro why do i listen to these reviews i bought it and it just sits here flickering at 390hz
How to buy this under 250$ ?
Does anybody know of a good monitor for 60 120 and 240+ FPS in adaptive sync?
I want one that doesnt need u to set overdrive every time.
Ill be building a PC for my cousin.
I mainly play Apex Legends at high level and i don't understand anything on these monitors while some people said that it's only the good choice...XDD
What monitor do you have today ?
You need to use a displayport cable 1.4
i have the same monitor for 1,5 years and i have a good pc so i run 390 fps capped and you have an big advantage but wouldnt recoommend when u have low frames must have atleast 390 stable bc u will not need this monitor and its kinda pricy
If this only had an USB Type C Port it would of been ideal for me.
Adaptive sync is pointless on 240hz and above. Just set the monitor to max refresh and v sync off. No tearing can be seen at any fps anyway and the overdrive at normal will look good at all times.
I don’t think most people enable VRR to rid tearing, it’s more about getting rid of frame mismatch judder.
You need atleast 1,000Hz to eliminate input tearing according to chief blurbuster
@@xm3405 the majority of people under 360Hz enable VRR to eliminate tearing

If your monitor is always running at 240hz or above whatever fps you are getting tearing is not really an issue.
Try the lg 27gp850 plsss
This monitor is garbage for that price:
Crosshair markings = useless and you can't change them (some weird crosshairs that take whole screen and no simple dot).
I wonder how many people can utilize anything beyond 144hz
Stand is shit and 390+fps is hard to get for most of ppl. But yea beside that its great monitor
