We have crafted this grass to represent this unique biome. Other future biomes will have different types of grass. Grass is a real world representation of a thing that is in the real word, and we think that this makes the beautiful chronic.... errr kingdoms of Valeria? Come alive.

I like how he bragged about the incremental build number at the bottom of the screen. That's a basic Unity feature, and you can manually set the build number to anything you want and let it start counting from there. The fact that he was so excited about that shows me not only are they beginner developers but that they recognize that as a way they could make it seem like they were doing actual work.
What they have here is just some art and assets placed in the editor. There's no code other than some basic scripts they've copied from the internet. He claims he has GOAP style AI, but how do you have goal-oriented action planning but don't have any actions or goals to plan? You clearly don't ... you just read about it or downloaded a couple scripts you aren't sure how to use.
This would be kind of cool if it was just a indy or beginner showcasing one of their first ambitious projects and showing us how it's starting to resemble a game. But these guys have been lying about developing this game and collecting money from people for a long time now ... 😐

@@clazzo6231 It definitely can, NO joke! It would literally take someone 30 to 40 minutes to throw a terrain together, add some foliage with material wind shaders, incorporate a generic UI, and throw in like 5 characters each with their own Idle animation on a loop using Mecanim. It would be Everything you've seen here, AND with MUCH better details at that. Anyone who falls for this mess is a fool. This dude is basically just demonstrating a generic mini game thrown together on the fly, and he's intentionally explaining things in a way to make everything sound more complex than it actually is. Just check this out: ruclips.net/video/LHErE4xLV8k/видео.html
From what I understand, that took a DAY to make with Generic assets on the marketplace. The dev programmed the A.I and gameplay mechanics himself though.
The creator of Elyria keeps talking more about HOW he did something rather than putting all of that focus on the actual gameplay features. REAL developers already know that gamers don't need to understand how the game was made, and really aren't all that interested in technical babble either. They just wanna know what they can do in the game, and ultimately that's the thing that sells the consumer. He's marketing this thing as if his target audience are OTHER developers out there like him who may be interested in UNITYs features too, which makes absolutely NO sense at all. Ironically this is also what blows his cover because devs who DO actually understand unity already KNOW how easy it is to just throw something like this together on their spare time. This game doesn't even offer anything all that special that hasn't already been done before. The average MMORPG today has all of these features, better gameplay over all, and FAR more stunning visuals.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they already move this game to UNREAL Engine 4 in 2020!? How in the hell are they BACK in unity AGAIN?? Moving engines is a PAIN in the ass in and of itself because you have to reprogram everything from the ground up. Its 2 completely different scripting languages for both engines, C# and C++. So what gives? This has got to be one of the BIGGEST scams in history, the fact that its gone on for so long is just mind-blowing.

I'm a solo indie game developer, I can safely say that I could re-make what is in his KoE video in less than a day, not only that I wouldn't use store bought assets nor have bugged AI
There are a few things that stick out to me in this video. Caspian says that the animal AI are constantly wanting to move from one point to another, which to any developer would mean he has the animal AI on a loop of looking for a random spot and then moving to it with no delay and thus you get this result.. Now this is actually fairly common amongst people that have no idea on how AI works or how coding works for that matter - a simple delayed timer would prevent this from happening, there are several things like this through out the "KoE trailer" but I don't want to make my post too long. With that, I don't feel like KoE will ever be in a fully polished releasble state unless he received more funding to pay people that actually do know what they are doing.

Ah, the camera controls, often overlooked, yet absolutely integral to the gameplay experience in Chronicles of Elyria. One might be tempted to think of camera controls as a simple mechanism, a mere functional aspect of the game, but to do so would be to underappreciate the true complexity and elegance involved in something so seemingly basic. Indeed, camera controls are the unsung hero of the gaming experience, and to give them anything less than a detailed exploration would be, frankly, an injustice.
    ---
When we talk about camera controls, we must begin with the most fundamental question: *What is the camera in a game like Chronicles of Elyria?* It's not just a virtual lens through which you view the game world-oh no. The camera is your *perspective,* your window into the vast, detailed environment that the developers have painstakingly crafted. It is the medium through which your entire interaction with the world is mediated. Without the camera, there is no game, no experience, no adventure to be had.
Now, let's break down the actual controls. In the most rudimentary sense, these controls allow you to adjust the position and angle of the camera, giving you the ability to observe your character and the environment from different vantage points. Typically, this involves moving the mouse or using a controller’s thumbstick, but it’s not just about moving things around-it’s about *how* you move them around. The fluidity of the camera’s movement, the sensitivity of the controls, the degree to which you can pan, tilt, and zoom-these are not just arbitrary settings. They are a direct reflection of the game’s design philosophy and its commitment to providing a seamless, immersive experience.
Let’s linger for a moment on the mouse movement aspect. When you move your mouse, you’re not just shifting a cursor; you’re guiding the camera, directing your gaze within the game world. The connection between your hand movements and the camera’s response is critical. If the sensitivity is too high, a slight twitch could send your view careening wildly, disorienting you and pulling you out of the game. Too low, and it feels sluggish, like you’re trying to wade through molasses just to get a glimpse of what’s behind you. The developers of *Chronicles of Elyria* have surely spent countless hours fine-tuning this sensitivity, balancing it just so, to provide an experience that feels both responsive and natural.
And then there’s the matter of panning and tilting the camera. This is more than just moving the view left and right, up and down. It’s about being able to take in the world from every conceivable angle. Want to see the towering castle from below, emphasizing its grandeur and intimidating architecture? You can. Feel like tilting the camera slightly as you look at the horizon to create a cinematic effect? That’s within your grasp. The freedom to manipulate the camera in this way isn’t just a convenience-it’s a tool that allows you to engage with the game world on a deeper level, to appreciate the fine details, to set up the perfect screenshot, or just to enjoy the scenery as your character meanders through a forest, a city, or a battlefield.
Zooming, of course, deserves its own discussion. The ability to zoom in and out with the camera is far from a trivial feature. It’s a method of control that lets you adjust your field of view to better suit the situation at hand. Zoom in close to admire the intricacies of your character’s armor, the texture of the cobblestone streets, or the expressions of NPCs. Zoom out to get a better grasp of your surroundings, to plan your next move, to see the bigger picture. The zoom feature is essentially a way to control the scale of your experience, letting you toggle between the personal and the panoramic with a simple scroll of the mouse wheel.
But it doesn’t end there. *Chronicles of Elyria* might even offer advanced camera settings, allowing you to customize your experience even further. Maybe you can invert the Y-axis, change the camera’s default position, or adjust the auto-follow settings. Each of these options, while seemingly minor, can drastically change the way you experience the game. An inverted Y-axis might feel more intuitive for some players, while others might prefer the standard setup. The ability to toggle these settings gives players the flexibility to tailor their experience to their preferences, making the game more accessible and enjoyable.
And what about the role of the camera in combat situations? Here, the camera controls take on an even more critical role. During combat, the ability to quickly and accurately position the camera can mean the difference between life and death. You need to be aware of your surroundings, to track multiple enemies, to dodge and strike with precision. The camera becomes an extension of your tactical awareness, allowing you to execute maneuvers with finesse. A well-placed camera can provide a strategic advantage, giving you a better view of the battlefield, revealing hidden threats, and allowing you to plan your moves more effectively.
In conclusion, while it may seem that camera controls are just a basic feature, they are, in truth, the linchpin of the entire *Chronicles of Elyria* experience. Without them, the rich, immersive world would be inaccessible, unviewable, and ultimately unplayable. Every interaction, every moment of exploration or combat, every triumph and every defeat is filtered through the lens of the camera. So the next time you adjust the camera angle, take a moment to appreciate the depth and sophistication of this feature. Because in the end, the camera isn’t just a tool-it’s your eyes in the world of Elyria, and it’s through these eyes that your journey unfolds.

Btw since I just played it: Going Medieval does everything 'hypothetically' shown here and more and it actually works. It's in early access though so still a bit rough around the edges when it comes to some things (like the tutorial abandoning you sometimes for stuff like, how to tend to wounds) but the animals actually move around, you can build stuff, your settlers actually do things. So basically the game they're pretending to build here? It's already on Steam.

Many moons ago, a young wizard by the name of Caspian begged the peoples of the realm for enough coin to create a world of amazement, wonder and entertainment. At last, he has delivered the horror game we have all been waiting for. A world of idle peoples locked in a perpetual daylight cycle, absorbing light from the sun, too terrified to move or interact, through fear of the ever present but sometimes never present fog of war mechanic. A world where people have forgotten fashion and your own clothes clip into your own body.
    God bless you, Caspian.

Camera controls are such a basic thing, imagine if Nintendo did a Treehouse stream and talked about Mario going right if you press right on the dpad, and then also left if you press left on the dpad for a whole 8 minutes.

I've just stumbled across this game from YT recommended and I knew it was going to be amazing when he spent 2 minutes talking about what "build numbers" are LMAO.

This can't hold up in court right? It's like he promised a ferrari but shows progress on the production of a wheel he's creating for a bycicle cuz they're both vehicles that take part in traffic.

I'm sure at some point a flash car was paid for shame that the money should have gone on the game they promised not their back pocket

If this actually goes to a court, they've already lost; the legal expenses would be ruinous even if they win the case. This song and dance is about convincing potential litigants that they shouldn't bother because they won't come out ahead after their legal expenses either.

@@zhentaa It's a class action lawsuit with hundreds, or maybe even thousands of individuals, Jeremy will have no leg to stand on against that many people. Also, the only thing that the plaintiff would need to show is the trailer footage from 2015 and the current gameplay in comparison. The evidence would be most certainly overwhelming

@@ninja12333444 Okay, so they have a breach of contract class action lawsuit. Because they have "overwhelming" evidence, the case proceeds quickly and they reach a final judgement with just $250,000 in legal expenses (and no, that "just" is not sarcasm). Even if 20% of the backers (2,150 people) participate and they're awarded 100% of their investment back, there's only $20k left for the backers. *If* Caspian even has any money left to pay the judgement (you can bet his lawyers were getting paid upfront). And that's practically a best case scenario!

My favorite was how he was trying to make the random "clothing" generation seem like some revolutionary thing. Congrats, you have a defined list of clothing and used a random integer to pick which one is assigned.
