I've dug through claptons records time and time again, and occasionally find something I really like that I didn't know of.... I missed this one, and it popped as recommended..... It's pretty awesome when you discover a new "old" Clapton song that really sounds great... Wonder if there are anymore out there🤔
Same! He’s just the best
This may be my new favorite Clapton song. That solo has to be one of the man's best.
Mix between All along the watchtower and Don't fear the reaper... Perfection
And a bit of lady writer
@@Alonoda almost a carbon copy, but there are a lot of songs that sound like this and I think they are all influenced by All Along the Watchtower...
Which was originally written by Bob Dylan.
@@mst2203 yes, it was written by dylan
Awesome comparisons
didn't think Clapton had this type of song in him...impressed.
It ain't no big deal, we're all lucky to be alive,
I myself don't believe in luck, or taking chances, I will survive.
Every move I make, every twist and every turn,
You scandalize and humble me, I may be slow but I will learn.
[Chorus:]
'Cause I ain't going down anymore.
No I ain't going down anymore.
No I ain't going down anymore.
No I ain't going down anymore.
If I had my way, I would probably just sit and stare.
Watch the T.V. or read a book, I'd have no reason to be aware,
But I ain't got time, I just could not live that way.
I've got to step outside myself, I've still got something left to say.
[Chorus 2x]
Channelled in my groove, part of another space and time.
Please allow me to introduce another very good friend of mine.
Some call him fear, some call him righteousness.
I myself ain't clear, and you can't force me to make a guess.
My favourite Clapton song, and that's saying a lot. He's the best!

:)
love the song
he is certainly talking
about himself
he is such a strong
person now.i admire
how he got so positive.
it is so difficult to do
that. love you Eric.
Read his autobiography... You will enjoy it x sure
One of my favorite Clapton songs.. I hate that he rarely plays it live
Who's listening to this in 2024
I agree with the previous post. I've never heard the song until a few minutes ago on Deep Tracks on Sirius/XM. Love that station!
I ain't going down any more!!!! Great Clapton Voice and fingers!
Ole Slow hand giving his Strat it's daily exercise!!!
And it is all the better for having the Blues brother hand on this cut.
Really have been enjoying going back to my 20's and listening to all his 80's albums.
Seems that this Money and Cigarettes is the best album of Clapton
One of my moms favorites.
This sounds precisely like all along the watchtower, just between the dylan and hendrix versions, with sprinkling of pop era blue oyster cult and dire straits. all 6 of these artists are rock legends
YES!!!
Exactly
I saw this on a website for used vinyl, got it for little to no money, turn out to be a great album, love it when that happens!
Exceptionable !!!! Why? Cos drums in the front and guitar solo in the back ... once again ... a perfect mix - perfect song -thanks.
Great song. But It really sounds like a Dire Straits tune, like Lady Writer. When i first heard it, i thought, he co-wroted it with Mark Knopfler.
Reminds me of all along the watchtower too
Awesome! this is my war song
One of the great Clapton songs
Mixel Plick Pedro infante
Mixel Plick morning
Drummer Roger Hawkins is a beast on this track. Try keeping this energy up for 4 straight minutes.
See Jon Hiseman
Whatever hes tryin to do, this song is awesome.
Well, he did go down again a few years later. But he's been back up for a long time.
Chord progression reminds me of all along the watchtower
Reminds me of a Tom Petty song
perfection, indeed
four chord progressions, simple and rhythmic gymnastics, like it
Forget all this riping off from all along the watchtower bs this song is great. In fact the guitar in this sounds very similiar to another song called "Lady Writer" by Dire Straits. Now that is an awesome coincidence.
Agreed and let's face it Eric was probably being copied off both of those artists at some stage.
I think this was his farewell to drug addiction...
Cheers to his blazing guitar!
@Willie Gordon he stopped smoking around the time he stopped drinking. He stopped drinking in 1990 I believe and stopped smoking around 94 according to him. He gave drugs up around '74
Love It. Would like to here him play it live!
There is on RUclips
Clapon is God!
Who's Clapon?
Musica maravilhosa
Just melting time, my friend.
So cool song )
genio
super
immortal!
Lady Writer+Don’t Fear The Reaper
yeah man
it kinda reminds of sultans of swing
I bought this album in 1983 and thought it sucked. I'm glad to see my standards are consistent years later.
Bro, I bought this in 1983 too! And I thought this was not enough then. But now, I proud of my choice. From Japan.
dali relojes derritiendo el tiempo clapton guitarra derritiendo la música sin diluir .
Great guitar 🎸 work here rolling stone mag critic compared it to Layla
Fkn boss
Amei 😍🤗
got some Fleetwood Mac in there
Donald "Duck" Dunn on bass!
I recently seen a film where Eric says that he can tell (the viewer) where every single bit of every single song he's done has come from. Its mainly stuff from other artist with his own twist. So, the answer, from the horses mouth, is that he did indeed rip off other artists to a degree. Every artist does to some extent. Its called inspiration.
because he is GOD! :P
no voy cayendo.....quien va cayendo.....who last. ?''
high 24/7
The intro sounds like Message in a Bottle
Tää on hyvä ja MULLE tärkee biisi!!!
So, you saying Clapton's almost 50 year career doesn't count because ONE song that sounds like another ? Come on, You really don't know Clapton's work.
I may be slow... but I will learn
Ohm man Hendrix is the King of the guitarist but CLAPTON IS GOD.
They had Clapton, We had Bloomfield
All Along the Watchtower sped up.
Thought the same thing
Noaein goindaon enimor
dylan ....
woow Clapton is God
this is hendrix tribute song
My chick was so sad when she heard this.
Bigmouth strikes again sounds similar!
mexside
Get the shotguns !!!!
...Why is Clapton standing in a Salvador Dali painting?
All along the watchtower?
Why not!
あれ?
俺が写ってる?
かっこいいよなー
I hear the Watchtower rip off;/
who's on bass?!
probably Donald Dunn
sounds like bad D.I on that bass ...playing is good though.
I dedicate this song to my fat ex GF
Dire Straits
why do peple have to write the lyrics to the song that's just been listened to? It's fucking bizzare and gives me shit ache.
+Daniel Adey I don't know, maybe there are some people for whom English is not their first language?
plus people like me who decide to make up the lyrics for what they think they heard. Apparently i have a dirty mind.
Seen it a lot. I think they get drunk and find certain lyrics somehow pertinent, if only to themselves.
I myself like having the lyrics written out.
This is Clapton at his worst. Derivative drivel. When he isn't trying he copies other artists.
There's a lot of music that's been sang by different artists. Eric Clapton rock's every song he sings.
This is a direct ripoff of Hendrix's version of All Along The Watchtower. I wonder why Dylan hasn't sued his azz off for this sham. This is the song that told me all I needed to know about Clapton's "originality"........... he stole it from the bluesmen and even a Hendrix-ified version of a folk song. No dislikes so far except for mine........buncha sheep !!!
Sheep for liking this song? You're confused about the word sheep. Idiot. No confusion about that word.
They say every song has already been written. If you can get 2 or 3 good tunes from one I say do it. More music for everyone.
because Eric and Bob became great friends and Bob didn't really give a shit.. started in 1976 after the band's farewell movie and album. The Last Waltz Eric was a part of it..he became great friends with the late Richard Manuel but for a while he was hanging with all of The Band and Dylan the following album of 1976 no reason to cry done it Bob Dylan Shangri-La Studios there's a song on there called sign language he gave to Eric. Bobby Eric became great friends 1978 backless the song If I don't be there by morning written by Bob Dylan he's never done it before he gave it to Eric said here this is for you Eric may have wrote this tune with a little bit of All along the Watchtower in a little dire Straits influence of Mark Knopfler but he was basically paying homage to Bob say thanks man cuz it was at this time that Bob was kind of shying away from more rock and roll and making more Americana Style music and disappearing for awhile actually until about 1988.. show you are wondering why Bob didn't suit him because Eric and Bob are great friends
Fun Drum time :)
