I'm old enough to remember when the game originally came out. It can't be overstated just how unbelievably revolutionary OOT was at the time. It was a phenomenon.

I just remembered my first time playing as a kid, I had a hard time figuring out how to become an adult. So at one point I tried playing the sun's song over and over again hoping that it would eventually age my character.

this really is a fantastic tribute. im 44. the first game i ever bought with my own money, a sock full of dimes, was TLoZ. that gold cartridge really was a special thing. the game itself was hard to appreciate at first, but grew into my favorite NES game. Adventure of link a few years later was a whole different experience but i really enjoyed that as well... but OOT coming out when i was like 18 was really hit just at the right time, for all the reasons you cover. the gerudo valley run is fn timeless. i skipped majoras mask, but bought a game cube just to play wind waker. after that real life took over and i really didnt play games for maybe 20 years... then we got my kid a switch. watching him play Breath of the WIld for the first time hit me in a way i cant describe. ended up doing a tandem playthrough before he did his own. waited a solid 2 years, forever when youre 8, for TOTK.
    zelda really is so special.

Majora's mask is worth it. So is Link to the Past.

I think you may have missed some context in the game. The accusation of racism may be in vogue for the time being but people being afraid of a band of thieves does not qualify as racism.

I must agree, this game may not be my favourite in a technical or game design way but on a sentimental level it goes beyond the bounds of a meer game. I used to have vivid and mysterious dreams about it as a child and I firmly believe I have a supra-emotional and spiritual connection to this game and its themes. Hearing the title screen music and the arpeggio when u hit start touches my soul and reminds me of childhood and it's magic more than any other thing that I know of. Awesome video. Thank u. Love from UK. 🇬🇧

Also I totally made a green hoodie a shield and a wooden sword as a kid and fought invisible monsters too.

Your commentary is great and has so much personality and you still managed to include a bunch of information and make personal references. Your thumbnail I genuinely thought it was a vid of one of the Zelda RUclipsrs with a couple million subs. This is the first time I've seen you and it's great! Keep up the good work and stay consistent but make sure not to burn out!
Edit: Ik I've only just got here and this may be personal but have you considered a slightly shorter or a shortened version of your name so it's easier to read and then recommend to other ppl? Just an idea and ofc do a community post to let ppl know if you do. Keep up the gd work!

I was given an Nintendo 64 and four game cartridges for Christmas when I was nine years old. Three of the cartridges were racing games, wave race, Star Wars pod racer episode one, Diddy Kong racing, and the last cartridge was this game. The gray cartridge, standard version, but it was a first release. It had the original fire temple song and Ganondorf spit up red blood. It was my very first video game experience that was mine and I lived through it time and time again! I did not have another game console until over two years later so I played this game to death! The music and sound effects are so nostalgic that it can bring back the smell of my old house.nothing will ever compare. I still prefer majora’s mask as far as game experience goes, ocarina of time will always be my favorite because of what it meant to me and what the experience felt like when I was a kid❤❤❤

Better than today's games that are often forced to have patch updates online.
If Ocarina of Time was required to be online, they would be censoring Princess Ruto and force Gerudo to be trains.

6:00 One correction here: Cloud is not a teenager. He's 21 years, in other words, a young adult.
Sorry, but I lived through the weird anti-JRPG craze of the late 2000s, and saying Cloud was a teenager was a common piece of misinformation during that time.

i still remember the moment i pulled the master sword like it was yesterday it was like 4 am and i was superexited to see grownup link and what awesome things i'll get to do with the mastersword only to be meet with a dark destroyed city and everyone turned into terrfying zombies and couldn't do anything but runback to the place were all has started
i feel like that moment in the game represent adulthood perfectly how when were kids we are exited about the future and once we pull the sword and becaume actual adult's the world around us becomes dark and terrfying at first and only after coming back to the past u can start ur own future like how link comes back to the forest to start his adventure
mybe it's me overthinking about it but i still want to say it

I find Ocarina of Time's story to be relatable. Also, I want to point out that there are two variations of the Fire Temple theme: one has chanting taken from a Muslim prayer, while the other has the vocals from the Shadow Temple.

I don't think 'attack' is a mistranslation though. The Japanese original has アタック (read: atakku) which translates to attack. Although I honesly have no idea too why they'd call it that.

I use the phrase "unironically" as a way to point out that what I've said is obvious or expected, which is the opposite of ironically. It's just the way I talk. I guess you could say a theme for a lava level sounding like it's being played underwater would be ironic? 😂
