I looked at this style and thought it would be easy, got my client and started recording, well I had all the issues you did. From the type of gel I used being unable to mould the hair enough, flat twisting in the wrong direction...I stop recording and wanted to give up. I started doing it just like yours with crocheting, but I was doing the plait at the top. well any way your tips have helped a lot in that regard. Also this method with a smaller box last longer, Thank you sis

The same concept as Senegalese twists must be used for the twists to be secure. The base twists must be twisted in the same direction, then the large trust in the opposite direction. The natural counter tension created is what makes the twists secure. Happy twisting

One thing I noticed about your first trial is you were twisting the separate twist in different directions. You twisted your actual hair in opposite directions and when you attached the extension you changed the directions in there too ,lol.
I'm sure that's why it got puffy
