For context, the song is about her mourning about the loss of her loved one and how she can't let go. The rest is left up to interpretation.

The song is AMAZING! Just imagine myself, a Greek person, having no idea about the lyrics, yet I was almost into tears. 💙This will shine in the live performance! The Duchies want the contest back, it's obvious! 😉
The live-version really grabbed my attention. This song gets better after hearing it more often. S10: “This is a tribute to the sadness and memories that you carry with you. Everyone experiences difficult times in their lives. That's something we all have in common and I hope you will feel less alone when you listen to this song." She struggled with suicidal thoughts, the voices in her head and her troubled past in psychiatry. The song is a love letter to her former self, she told.
I love the song. The Dutch language made it even more beautiful & soulful.
I'm also getting goosebumps from this song. Perhaps because, as a Dutchie, I know what the lyrics mean, and where Stien came from. She's been through a lot of difficult stuff. I don't often like the Dutch entries, but this is my nr 1 (so far).
Yeah we definitely agree. I also think the song will hit people’s hearts without understanding the lyrics. We had that with Gjon’s Tears last year. Sometimes a song is that good. And Stien definitely did that. What a talent 😍

That might be my favourite Dutch Eurovision song (that's including Duncan), well, at least in long time, cause no-one will beat the queen Corry Brokken, or Lenny Kuhr or Teach-In, but that's a bit long time ago🤣. And yes, Sieneke was the last one in Dutch.🤣

dit nummer en samen met de vocals van estien is prachtig, ik hoop dat het gewaardeerd word dat het in Nederlands gezongen word ,ik hou veel reacties bij en hoor veel over de harde g die wij uitspreken ,nou vind ik dit persoonlijk in dit nummer wel mee vallen ook de live versie zingt ze geweldig net als in de clip
Ik ben het met je eens. Ik vind niet veel Nederlandse muziek mooi, maar dit is prachtig. En idd niet zo uitgesproken Nederlands. Maar hoe anderen dat ervaren weet ik natuurlijk niet. ☺️☺️

Great reaction! My perception of the video is that she died. In the beginning he saw a moth/butterfly on the mirror (as a sign?) Earlier he tattooed an moth in her neck. The more in the video she is turning towards/into the light. She's holding on to him, haunt him so to say. But that's just what I see in it. Keep up the good work!

I think it is a good entry. It is a bit subtle and layered for Eurovision. A certain finalist, but not a winner. That's completely OK. I am proud of this entry as a Dutchman.

Aangezien jullie Nederland kunnen: dit lied is over een relatie waarin haar vriend is overleden in ene ongeluk nadat ze een ruzie hadden. De koelkast staat voor de isolatie die ze erna had en S10 is altijd erg open geweest over haar mentale problemen dus daar gaat dit lied ook over.

The 'dead lover' theme has been stolen from Switzerland's song of last year.
the song is NOT about a dead lover...
Please stop calling us german which Dutch means. English talking could not pronounvce Deutch so it became Dutch. Why on earth the call us Deutch and die Deutsche leute germain blows up my mind but it is not accurate and no one ever corrected it. Until i came along. You can call us Netherlandisch or Netherlanders or Hollandic. You may even use the very old name of our country Batavia and cal us Batavarians but please stop calling us german because we are not!
Holland does not excist anymore.
It is officially The Netherlands.
Why do you care anyway?
If we end last we are Germans and if we win we are Dutch. Easy.
