I think that the staging will be quite similar. Instead of lasers maybe they use lights..... When I saw the staging on this tv show, I knew they had the stage in Turin in mind. Because this effect can be created with the turning arches I think.

Unlike yourself Tom I wasnt a fan of Arcade (my taste tends towards upbeat songs) and when this first came out my first thought was Arcade 2.0. However…….this has really grown on me and Dutch is a great language to listen to. My fave ‘non upbeat’ song this year (Norway is my overall no.1 😉🇳🇴) and I think this could be a dark horse 😀
I love the lasers, especially when the camera starts spinning around her. It looks professional and really well executed. I would've loved if they replicated this in Turin because I think it fits the song perfectly. I am looking forward to the staging after seeing this though because they clearly are putting in the effort.
It's a fantastic performance indeed. I'm not sure either why they're not keeping this staging: S10 said that it was the idea from the producers in this tv show, which is known for putting up quite big music performances; I'm guessing that they already had a staging plan worked out for Turin. We'll have to wait and see and I for one am as curious and excited as you are to see what it will look like. For Duncan Laurence they had a fantastic stage plan worked out which didn't even turn out perfect in Tel Aviv, so yeah the Dutch are able to pull off something great (also the Common Linnets of course). I was disappointed last year when they had such great ideas in the music video but in Rotterdam it didn't really materialize.

Hi Tom, as a Dutchman I can say that this staging is not the official one. The TV programme where she sang has its own production and staging. S10 has indicated in interviews that the stage really suits her and she is always wears black, I think the stage will be a dark one and minimalistic.
Just read 'De Deepte' instead of 'De Diepte' and you can't go wrong on the pronunciation. The 'ie' is a digraph, it's a single sound, corresponds to English 'ee' normally.

Dutch is treated like it's something weird when it really is very similar to English and it shouldn't be too hard to pronounce most things right. I think Dutch might fall in this uncanny valley for English native speakers, I don't know. To illustrate the similarity let's take the last line of the chorus and I will write down the Dutch, then a literal translation that is agnostic about any syntax and grammar and then a proper English translation: "Oh mijn lief wat moet ik nou? Ik zit diep en ik wil jou niet laten gaan." "Oh my love what must I now? I sit deep and I want you not let go." "Oh my love what am I to do? I'm down and I don't want to let you go." As you can see it's almost just the same language in a sentence like this one. Notice that the word 'lief' also sounds almost exactly like English 'leaf', also has that long i in there. Also in general while I may not react to that many songs my thanks for doing all these reactions. You are probably my favorite of the bunch because you are not trying to be cool, just giving honest opinions. Too many others seem to load up this persona where they push for songs that have certain qualities and while a sense of personal bias can't be avoided you are not casting relentless shade on songs that might play to a whole other demographic than your own. You remain nice and balanced, you're always fairly rational I should say. Much appreciated.

The laser version doesn't go entirely with the song but what I love about it is the more dominant guitar/drum part in this version.
i quite like how unexpected it is, but yea i can see that the link between the song and the lasers seems a bit tenuous
