birelì is one of the most oustanding musicians around and he always surrounds himself with great musicians. i like his playing because it is always creative. sometimes he is fantastic, sometimes nearly perfect but he's always " there " with all he's got. thanks birelì !!
A true master who can express great musicality via ant piece of wood with strings whether unplugged or with full shred. Its a joy to see and hear Birelli express himself with any piece of dead wood. Just excellent!! Thanks.
Thanks ! I was there and very happy to revive this precious experience. Yes, this is really what Django would do now, but, with a Les Paul. He was a good friend with the inventor.
birelli always looks so tortured! then suddenly he'll turn around and break into a big smile! there is no question that he's a master of jazz and gypsy guitar but i'm happy he's embracing electric guitar. i'm anxious to see what he brings to it.
Imagine if Biréli had started learning B3 and piano when he was 4 years old -- he'd be playing bass with his feet, chords with his left hand, lead with his right -- add 2 Maccaferris, a sax, flugel horn and drummer......and maybe an accordion.
Well John DCosta while I agree with you, if you want musical appreciation it needs to elicit tears or dancing and this does neither. {Well maybe tears of distress!}. It's that modern jazz stuff and we must be prepared to applaud the virtuosity on the instruments. The fact is not many care anymore. It's done, dusted, over when all that giving by the audience was de rigueur. Now we want "entertainment."
i seen the rosenberg trio in concert and was surprised by the audience clapping halfway thru a song when stochelo plays a fast part and the same with the dvds i bought of the rosenbergs and bireli lagrene. it looks like bireli has rounded up all the culprits at this years samois and got his revenge by playing this and saying yeah clap now you basterds
he's playing jazz....you mean you prefer him in a classic jazz style like swing bebopo or gipsy....but jazz is not a musical genre...it's a musical approach! and the better way to get the best of a musician is to let him do what he feel! so we should stop saying i want him to playu like that...won't you be bored if your public was always asking you to play the same music???? i think he just need to play what he feel and he's doing it so well....
Look at the audience! Why do people go to concerts and than show no appreciation? Whether youre digging it or not, it wouldnt kill you to put your hands together, right? It's simply rude!
Well 5 years after last comment... here comes another: I'm listening to this concert again and... again and again... cosmic energy... THANK YOU!!!

thanks birelì !!

This version of "mouvements" is just wonderful... master piece/interpretation..

Bireli es el mejor... Bireli is the best...
Thanks ! I was there and very happy to revive this precious experience. Yes, this is really what Django would do now, but, with a Les Paul. He was a good friend with the inventor.

So what do you think now 10 years later ?
Thomaski. Sorry I'm about 2 years late. The piece at 55.00 is place du tertre
i love the way he plays jazz.
it's not his best perfomance, but i like him playing in a such style too

Mouvements
I love Bireli Lagrene and like the fact that he doesn't just stick solely in one genre but has he lost his cutting edge here?
I think its Mouvements :)
Un des meilleurs pûtôt ! (avec Allan Holdsworth)

Django will be the first to stand up and show apprection, cause this is what he would be doing now!
It's called "Mouvements"

10 years later, not sure you are still around :D But the tune is "Place du Tertre"
actually both some Frank Gambale and Jeff Beck there...
what's the tune at 0:55:40 called? Great one!
is that a road worn strat??

not for everyone....but definitely for me.
The antiClapton.

100%
please, do u know who wrote these songs?
i prefer him on a gispy or jazz guitar

sounds like Mike Stern to me...liked him better on the L5...
it seems that Bireli is mocking the rock guitarists some times like on the last number: "try to do this.....and this ....now this" Ha.
M
He is embarassing for many guitarists !
