I remember this video five years later and it finally became relevant! Hell yeah!
Thanks for the video but those buzzer noises are way too loud. I want to listen to you but I needed to turn my volume way down for those bits :(
this is literally heaven how am i only seeing this now after my first semester ends
Thanks for the video, Mr. Strebel. But those buzzing sounds at the beginning were really loud! Gave me a jumpscare! LOL! 😂
And not in a good way!!!
I LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS, you’re a mentor to me. I appreciate you.
I love the clear block mold candling in the intro. Clever.
This was a revelation! Thank you. This is a higher level of craft. There is so much to learn from in every frame of this video. Not only the result and general technique, the tools, methods workspace, etc. but the way the hands move, manipulate and position, the fine control of pressure, the efficiency. I noticed that there is a certain lack of tension in the hands and finges, they are precise but for the most part relaxed. In that respect you can see how it resembles playing a guitar or instrument... odd connection but I think still valid. Thanks for showing us how it's done! The vid speaks for itself. Looking forward to trying some of this... It won't be pretty to start, hahah... but with time. Look forward to checking out your channel. Thnks
Probably some truth to that. Thanks for your comment and feedback. Much appreciated.
This was awesome and eye-opening! Thank you
Great video. Love working with cardboard. Thanks for sharing! : )
This was very helpful! Thanks for sharing this, I learned a lot from it.
Great Glad you liked it, feel free to share with the world on social media.
Nice and easy and usable tips. Thanks
You are really good at commenting on the videos. Very entertaining and understand how to use music but prioritize the voice so it's easy to understand.
This is very well done!
Can’t wait for the next video. YASSSS
I love your sub millimiter precision
Some very good tips in here, thank you!
Thanks I appreciate your comment.
Thank you for giving a lead to a novice like me!
Man, Im in artschool and you just save my ass
Those buzz sounds really woke me up
hello thanks for this video, it has helped a lot. What would you recommend for quick context models?
very good very useful love u
What makes you choose matte board over foam core for a project? When is it suitable to use each method?
Yo my teacher is using this video for Design Technology thanks for making this channel keep it up.
Sweet, what school?
@@EricStrebel The John Fisher School in the UK
Thanks for the reply, Best of luck with your studies! Rock on!
Something makes me think such cardboard would also form a perfect basis for a composite material that would stand up to end-use requirements, if it was allowed to soak and cure with a suitable resin. Just that I haven't tried and thus don't know a suitable resin. Also it can get mighty messy.
Using sheet styrene can of course be an alternative, and it can be welded together. But it's not nearly as flexible to work with as cardboard.
Exelente videooooo
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
How do you get the luer lock glue dispenser in the uk
Where can I order some 2mm white woodpulp? I've been looking everywhere for it.
what is the material from which you hold the scale
I have thought of model making, but wasn't sure whether to start with cardboard or foam board. I see that cardboard would be better for a beginner like me.
Take your time, practice makes perfect. Good luck with your project
Hi, what brand of chipboard are you using?
Ok so, for an art project i need to do a half human sized fence/gate and i thought that i could do it with papier mâché but i dont have enough time. I also though about cardboard but i'm not sure. I only have a week to do it so can someone give me advide please
I usually save up cardboard boxes so I can use them later for model making but I do not always get clean cuts. It sort of depends on the cardboard I’m using, is there a way to tell if the cardboard is good enough to give me clean edges??
The key to clean edges is a sharp blade it doesn't really have anything to do with the media that you're using unless it's just way too hard to cut but there should not be an issue with cardboard.
I’m a first year architecture student and could really use the luer lock bottle with the needle 🙏. You ran out on eBay
Great video, Eric! What is name for those weighs you use to weight and square up the boxes? Also, can you recommend where to find them?
They are press forms for a glass blowing project, totally custom
@@EricStrebel ok, thank you
Where did you get those cool weights and the cool heavy-aluminum straight-edge? It looks like the extra weight of the straight-edge make cutting lots of things easier?
James AmosThey are from a glass blowing project, just left overs, just work well for squares and block weights.
SHINWA Machinist square 150mm: amzn.to/39zZ7GQ
Just thought you should know that your ebay store link for the luer lock bottles is broken
You have any tricks for beveling the edges at a 45?
Practice
I dunno, it feels as if a folding pattern is structurally better. Or is there some issue with trying to bend a cardboard?
Well you are going to have 3 rounded edges and then a sharp edge. This might not be the consistency you're going for
It's my 1st time working with 3d models and it's gonna be my final piece for my mock exam pray that my building doesn't look like chewed up dog food 😂
Eric, Please share the source of the small square you use in this process... I've been looking for something EXACTLY like that. Thanks!
Made by Shinwa, bought it on eBay, excellent tool.
SHINWA Machinist square 150mm: amzn.to/39zZ7GQ
What is the best and cheapest material to use for shaping molds in your opinion? I am sure it varies for each type of material but I am trying to find ways to help recycle things. You seem very smart so thought I would ask.
Silicone is the best
@@EricStrebel Thank you !
Where can i get the net of an interlockabke cube?
Basic math I believe
Do those Luer Lock bottles work with CA Glue?
Sorta, they will clog eventually, just clean it well after each use.
Hello, are you still able to sell the luer lock nozzles with cap even though it is off ebay? I cannot find this type anywhere.
I have updated the link for you. Thanks for letting me know it was not working
I can't seem to find a nice small metal square like you have. Everything I find is either flat (without the small overhang) or stupidly big or stupidly expensive.
SHINWA Machinist square 150mm: amzn.to/39zZ7GQ
Hi, what is the thickness of that card?
I have no idea, not very thick prob about 1mm
Where do you find the weights you're using?
Custom machined, left over from a glass blowing prototype we made many years ago
@@EricStrebel any suggestions for acquiring similar weights? ;)
They were milled from just regular mild steel blocks I suppose you could have something machined from a local machinist
Holy cow you sound a lot younger than you look too. Lol idk if that’s a backhanded compliment sorry ♥️
😄
u need buy a neje 30 watt laser cutter to cut out this stuff! not to expensive. well these shapes are simple but for other more complicated stuff. maybe interlocking pieces.
I have videos about that
@@EricStrebel doh!
@@EricStrebel hey! i wana make some 8 in x 10 in x 6 in bin/trays for vitamin bottles for the cuboard.,and i want to make it out of cardboard, but i need it durable to handle repeated daily use. what do you suggest i do? maybe reinforce it somehow? an with a nice looking finish on the outside.
Hey, I have a question is this tectonic cubes?
Not sure what a tectonic cube is, please elaborate
@@EricStrebel we are doing a project for my Architectural Designing class that one has to be stereotomic vs tectonic. So tectonic is looking like a cube that you have to see the volume inside like how you did with your chipboard cube, while stereotomic cubes are working fr inside out
@@samr.b.929 great, best of luck with your additive and subtractive volumes.
I am SOLD on that glue bo’ol !!
(and I use double-sided tape, even!!!!)
Pls tell the name of this cardboard.
chip board...
What cardboard do you use
Just because my cardboard had this half empty middle with the crosses but I need solid cardboard
Get a chip board, very inexpensive, works well
Damn buzzing makes me want to kick someone in the shins. Guess who. That's too bad, Eric, because I learn a lot from your videos and really (otherwise) enjoy them.
Watch my latest video, you will want to kick everyones shins
🙂
No I broke the scissors into two to cut cardboard
quien acá por desafíos?😅
Painter's tape is a sign that God loves us. The other one is, of course, bacon.
I always start with an Amazon box and glue gun 😅
My poor speakers.
I feel your pain, dude! I was listening to this with ear buds.
... I do like me my hot glue messes lol
I came over for Ideas on making a cardboard deck box. With a functioning lid but got some better insight on how to build the structure better.
Wow. Easy on the sounds. It's just disturbing!
My channel is a lie now
Video really ain't got me, man's just show me up without warning 😭😭😭😭😭
Do you think it's okay to intro with an annoying buzzer. NNNÑNN. NNNÑNN NNNÑNN NNNÑNN NNNÑNN
Yes
@@EricStrebel i think buzzer was great choice. I wont be back but only cause people sleep in this house, but if i get rid of family one day, this will be my first stop.
Yes, I do
