Up there with the best of modern directors. And, if it hadn't been for Blade Runner, Mother! would have been my favourite film of the year. Ambitious, brave, in-your-face filmmaking, the likes of which we rarely see hit the mainstream.
My only qualm is knowing that the Marvel-chugging mainstream audience's misunderstanding of Mother! may have killed Aranofsky's chances of continuing to make arthouse films released to a wider audience.

If you didn't understand the point/message of A Clockwork Orange I really need to ask "Where you even watching the film?", it's questioning whether changing a man by force can happen, and if so, should it happen.

Just looking through the imdb reviews for some of his movies like Noah (imdb rating:5.8) and mother!(imdb rating:6.6)........and wow. People get so mad when they don’t understand. Like these people are giving those amazing movies(subjective to a point sure) a 1 out of 10 calling them garbage and waste of film. From those reviews we can conclude that anything slightly layered or complicated or profound is likely to float over a large number of heads and result in lack of appreciation or even hatred.
