Literally cried while watching this. I’ve been waiting for Tianna to have her moment since the movie first came out when I was an 11 year old girl. Now I’m a 26 year old woman crying like a baby. I’m so happy!!! I hope I can go back to Disney and experience this myself and maybe even meet Tiana. I loved the congregation of BW supporting this opening🤎💚. We out here Disney nerding too!

From the makeup, to the tour of the stores, merchandise and just seeing the vibes with you and yours friends, made me smile from ear to ear! Funny enough I dressed up as Tianna for Halloween for my kindergarten students! They loved it! P.s now they dead wrong for that Gumbo 😂. Love from Vegas! 💚

I literally kept crying too. I feel like I’m being dramatic but I just think about little girl me and I’m just so full of joy seeing Tiana get her moment! I bet the atmosphere was amazing on opening day.

Truly unhinged behavior
In Disneyland we have a whole New Orleans Square where the Haunted Mansion is and they do really great beignets and gumbo in their French Quarter quick service and sit down restaurants, like the Blue Bayou inside Pirates of the Caribbean. They even had a muffuletta sandwich once. I can’t believe Disney World failed so hard with the food when Disneyland has been doing it right for decades.

I love this! Tiana is my favorite Disney Princess and I’m so happy to have her represented at the parks. Naysayers, go away! I don’t care what anyone says, this is an improvement over Splash Mountain, regardless of the early trouble it’s having! Thank you for giving Tiana the positive energy she deserves!

Idk why they waited this long to make something for her because everyone knows she is AN ICON! I really love the scenery they placed in her area they really captured the movie and made it real🫶🏻

Maybe do a quick trip to New Orleans and try a lot of the foods in the movie, foods Disney missed the mark on, and/or New Orleans favorites.

It's the fact that this is the one princess we have in which a big part about her character is that she is good at cooking and wants a restaurant, so the food surrounding her had to be amazing...and this is the food we got. Like I KNOW they did not go down to New Orleans and get served that quality of food, so what the heck happened? They need someone's grandmother to come in and correct them because what even was that sweet fries and gumbo combo?
Everything else looked really cute though! Like those cute little picture frames were so cool! And the one with the recipe cards!

Traditional beignets don’t have a filling and these don’t really look like New Orleans beignets. I agree with you that Disney needs to go back to New Orleans and do more research on them and the Gumbo. No sweet potato fries.

Yeah definitely NO filling in the beignets. Mountain of powdered sugar on cracking hot straight from the fryer is all you need

Although I’m not a fan of the sandwich, at the very least, they could have thrown a muffaletta sandwich in there. It could have gone with the sweet potato fries.
A shrimp po boy sandwich could have been put together rather easily, too.

I think it was more about what they could make hot in that stand then what went best with gumbo to be honest. Someone remembered they used sweet potatoes with the Soulful menus and put it together. You're spot on, rice is better for soak up the gravy than the fries sitting in. You look amazing no matter what the FL weather tries to do to you 😍 so keep being amazing!!

That said, I don’t understand how Disney got Tiana’s food so wrong. It’s like Disney doesn’t care anymore. They could have hosted a really cool gumbo cooking contest in the month leading up to the opening, they could have had the Gumbo recipe developed by a famous New Orleans chef. They could have done a lot of things but Disneys attitude these days is, slap it on a plate and they will not only eat it, but pay four times what it’s worth for the privilege. In fact, that’s their attitude for everything from park tickets, to hotels, to food. Do better Disney because I know you can!

Considering it’s based on Leah Chase and/or New Orleans, there are so many directions the food could have gone in to capture the essence of New Orleans and/or Cajun cuisine.

Love dooney and Burke but the whole princess and the frog setting was New Orleans the gumbo colir don’t look right.
The sweet potato fries just don't belong with the gumbo. They're flavor is too strong, and conflict with the gumbo. They should have served the gumbo with rice, so all those strong flavors in the gumbo can stand alone. The hot honey chicken with the olive topping should not have happened either. The Beognets don't work for me either, because of the honey. It's simple, fried Beignets and powdered sugar and that's all. Get out of here with that honey!
But don't she put honey on them in the movie??

They always mess up the food, no surprise there. It’s hard to leave home for vacation and find a good meal. And just so we are clear, that was not gumbo!!!
