  • A stunning walk over the Urris Hills and Raghtin More on Inishowen, Donegal, Ireland. Climbing from the golden sands of Lenan Strand to the hills overlooking Lough Swilly and the northernmost reaches of Ireland. Dropping to Mamore Gap and the holy well & grotto then climbing to the heights of Raghtin More. A mini mountain range that can be easily walked in a day.

Magnificent! My paternal grandmotherCatherine Hagan (O'Brien), was from Lough Swilly, Donegal. I've been there several times and it's one of the most beautiful places I've been to on Earth! Lovely music in vid too.

Brilliant video. I live about a ten minute walk away from the bottom of Raghtin Mor, its always been a brilliant climb but now that the walks have been developed they are available to a much broader spectrum of walkers.

Mark i am lucky to be only a couple of hours drive away in Antrim, it is great that distance is no barrier to us both in visiting Donegal!

Great walk Gerry. On the way down it took us a while to locate the WW2 plane memorial but we eventually found it.

Fantastic video !! Climbed these hills on two different days in November 2013, but I was thinking of going back to make the whole ridge walk. I must say starting from sea level at Lenan Strand is a great idea !! Thank you for your beautiful videos and also for your brilliant comments on MV !!

We've got nothing like that here in England, our national parks are badly overcrowded and if you step off the path anywhere else a farmer will jab you in the back with his shotgun and tell you to "get orf moi land"

One of the great things about Ireland is how you can spend the day in some of the most beautiful mountains and not see another person :-)

Thanks to vids like this (and google earth) we're seeing parts of Ireland that we never knew existed, for example when I first saw Mount Errigal on GE it took my breath away, its like a mini-mount Everest..:)

Hey Tungsten Kid. There's tons of lonely places like this in England. Try the North Yorkshire moors, The eastern part of Cumbria is where the tourists rarely venture, and the Simonside hills in Northumberland for a starter.

Well...., for me 6 hours into Shannon and a long drive to Donegal......you've got an easier commute. ;-) My great-grand-parents (my paternal grandmother's house) is still there, on the shores of LS.....on a coastal plain to the water. Nothing else around.
Unfortunately we on this side of the pond gave the few cousins over your side our rights to the house and land for free and they've been very unfriendly. I'd love to get inside to see it and they won't let us in....it's been vacant 60years.
