I fitted a Pipercross air filter to my 430d, and within 5 miles the eml came on. Put the original back in , had the light taken off. Has never come on again. I only use normal diesel, the ultimate diesel is extortionate, and cetane is not like octane, so not really worth it on a Diesel. Gotta admit I do like Shell over all others.
Hi mate Tom, I had the same issue, pipercross filter wasn’t seated correctly, been fine moths later, agree on a meeting, just have to run it past mart and the misses now we have a new borne😂👍🏻😎
If your petrol engine requires higher octane rated fuel to run full performance then put it in. Normally modern cars can tell with knock sensors what map to use based on the octane of fuel and how to time the ignition accordingly. There are strict regulations in the UK as to what standards fuels must meet, this means there is no bad fuels regardless of supermarket or named brands. Some may perform better under certain circumstances but all meets a standard and the difference is negligible. Diesels do not require ultimate at all, its compression ignition, you are spending a lot on additives by using ultimate, theres no point, put injector cleaner in every few thousand miles interval if you feel the need to do so, you'll save a lot of money. People get caught up on brands, which brand they think is better in their opinion, which brand appeals to them most. Its irrelevant. If you have you car mapped to within fine tolerances of peak performance of the components installed, this is the only time you need to consider which brand of fuel is used based on the one it was mapped off.
I went to Germany in my Focus ST TDCi a few years ago.....I since found they do 9% biodiesel in some places. One gas station locked my EGR valve open and it was a slower ride home. Breakdown said it was driveable and wouldn't recover, so i had to come home with limited boost. Lesson learned i guess but not a major inconvenience, car had a lot less power but ok really. I now have a turbo petrol, Tesco 99 is best. I also like Essar 99, Gulf 97, Applegreen 97. The rest is too expensive although Esso 99 is good. Tesco 99 is about 3% ethanol i gather....for now.
