The part that I'm thinking about the most is how the nun's prevented Michael Hess from finding his mother. They chose to present their saintly image how they cared for abandoned children and denied him his last goodbye. It made me think of some of the 9/11 stories of the people trapped in the towers and on the planes. Of how important it was for them to phone with a last I love you before they left.
Absolutely the most amazing movie I have ever seen. Touching and so real. The woman might have made a mistake but the church created a bigger one by taking a child away from his mother. Judy Dench I would like to hug. She was outstanding and even without a touch of make up she was beautiful. A movie everyone should watch and a story that should be told.
After reading book. I feel very sad not only for the mother but her son. He and she suffered so much but no one could give them an explanation. How regreatful her son died without an answer.
This was a movie that completely captivated me. In addition to the great story line it was Judi Dench's portrayal of Philomena that brought real dimension to the role. The strict authoritarianism of the Catholic Church was responsible for many evil deeds of the 19th and 20th centuries. There was no excuse for the high-handed ways that priests and nuns dictated how lay Catholics should live their lives. Another movie with that theme: "Spotlight" There was no excuse for the sins of the priests and the massive coverup. The Catholic Church is still recovering from these revelations.
I saw this movie last week- the movie is very good indeed! Dame Judi Dench is BRILLIANT! Such a compelling performance! I am very surprised by Steve Coogan's script. It is an amazing and very sad true story! The Catholic Church has a lot to answer to all these people, who are still living with the scars of a tragic past!
I knew Dench for a variety of strong woman performances before this. On top of her near flawless Irish accent, the vulnerability of Philomena sucked me in. The pain in her voice telling that evil nun "I forgive you broke me"
i watched the documentary about this. very amazing woman who never gave up...That really happened to many young girls...they were sent to the convent then had to give up their babies. it was also featured in the british series Cal the MIDWIVES...
This movie will tear a hole through your soul, drain you of every tear you have left in your body, and set up residence in your mind. What genius. I'd like to meet everyone that made this film and thank them. Their use of dramatic action to convey what lesser talents would spend dozens of script pages of dialogue to explain was, I can't put it into words, just, as perfect as you can get in an imperfect world. The legendary Robert McKeee could use it as a poster child for his teachings. Watch this movie. If your a laymen, you'll love it, if you're a writer, an artist of any kind, you'll see the gift we all search for, the level of talent we all hope for. As a writer myself, someone who's trying to put his own film together, I beg the universe to unite this posting and anyone involved in making this film in hopes that such mastery could be brought to my own project. That was an amazing movie and so touching it makes you want to cry! It is worth at least a 9/10 in my opinion, for some reason I don't understand they have it around 7 point something in imdb.
I'd be able to advertise this trailer if the captioning was actually accurate. There's a lot of breakdown in the "automatic software" especially with the accents. I have a website for email notification of the captioned movies being shown at the Warren Theater in Wichita.
'just saw Winterbottom's TheTRIP another time, always like Coogan when he's odd with Brydon, very pleasant movie... This one, I don't know... 'will wait on tv...
I dont really see how the ending is obvious. Cuz I dont wanna spoil it for other people i wont go into detail but there was alot you cant really guess. I mean alot

alot of the lines are punch lines but the music is for a heart felt drama. not saying its not a heart felt drama. The music mixed with the jokes just threw me off
Barnevernet - The CPS from Norway....the same story but in our time. After 50 years our kids will wach a movie about this nazi country and they will cry in frnt on tv....

they did what they had to do I think , under the circumstances..
@@jessiejames7492 That's called "The Nurenberg Defence". It didn't work then, and it still doesn't work.
@@jessiejames7492 what ‘circumstances’?

Theres documentary about those "houses of fallen women" :/ its awful how they were treated.
I don't see what mistake she made to be honest but agree with rest of your point.
What a brilliant film judy dench you were perfect I want to watch it again

Every movie she had made, I am hooked and enchanted. NEVER disappointed!!!
this is how a trailer should be! This looks like such a heartfelt story
After reading book. I feel very sad not only for the mother but her son. He and she suffered so much but no one could give them an explanation. How regreatful her son died without an answer.
Coogan is a one man army of talent. He can do comedy and drama equally well. Good for him.
One of my top 5 favorites movies all times 😔😔😔
Same
I love it how she talked like that about Ryanair.
Im always able to stand sad movies. This one made me tear up. A lot

This movie absolutely floored me.
Brilliant stuff.
I don't like dramas much but it's a good movie to see another point of view/thoughts.
That was an amazing movie and so touching it makes you want to cry! It is worth at least a 9/10 in my opinion, for some reason I don't understand they have it around 7 point something in imdb.
for everyone thinking that the interviewer will turn out to be her son is wrong as this is based on a true story and he isnt the son
Wonderfull mowie, and Judit is excellent :-) A film who warm my heart..
Can't get enough of this movie bless her heart can't imagine
Masterpiece....change my mind!
This book was so powerful. Crazy
Judi Dench as great as always...love the scene on the plane!!!
Wonderful picture
Just back from a screening. The Coogan character is NOT the son. This is a brilliant film - go and enjoy it!
I'm a straight male... But Coogan is looking damn good.
The soundtrack for this movie is good

Amazing movie. 👏
Haha the seats definitely aren’t Ryanair seats!! 😂😂😂😂 1:27

A HD trailer would be nice!!!
personally dislike judi dench in the bond films but she seems alright here. Plus steve coogan so yeah its a must watch
Can somebody please tell me the trailer soundtracks?
This is the kind of movie you put on when you can't sleep at night.
'just saw Winterbottom's TheTRIP another time, always like Coogan when he's odd with Brydon, very pleasant movie... This one, I don't know... 'will wait on tv...
Phenomenal, that what they should call that movie ;)
Does anybody know the song that's played at the beginning of this trailer? The piano?
Alexandre Desplat wrote the music
My favourite ❤️
Well Wikipedia says that he wasn't adopted, so it doesn't look like he's going to turn out to be her son.
What peace of Chopin was played in the film. Ik want to know. please send me
I dont really see how the ending is obvious. Cuz I dont wanna spoil it for other people i wont go into detail but there was alot you cant really guess. I mean alot
This was a good movie. See it.
this is actually a true story, based on my mother in laws aunty!
For someone as well spoken as yourself, I am truly shocked that you have no interest in this movie.
They shouldn't have used that opening line..... It kinda spoils it.
Who's here after Conan 😅
"This is what they call a human interest fiction"
Catelyn Stark!!!! 0:35
"DONKEY BOLLOCKS!" Gordan Ramsay , 2005

I smell Oscar.. or BAFTA.:D
why do i think this is about Phil Lynotts mother?!? I know its not, but all the signs...
can anyone tell me the name of the piano music used in the beginning of the trailer?
I think she said "Ryan Air".
why are people going on about a Stark?
did you see someone talk to her? no? well maybe she's a ghost.
SPOILER reporter is not her son, her son is dead . there is article in the guardian about it
he can't be the son because the son is living in America
I'm going to hazard a guess, and say the interviewer turns about to be the son.
ned stark's wife is ALIVE !!!!!!
