As a woman, these ads actually are helpful to younger girls. There's a serious lack of sexual and reproductive education in America. The ad actually had a lot of education in it. While I'm not a fan of amy in any way, the ad was good in terms of education.

@@Sam-mn8ex I personally disagree. He definitely broke down huge barriers talking about something that has been generally taboo. Even though Tampax made commercials, they had a predominantly female cast, which made sense but also is how things have been recently. To have a cis male comfortably talking about it openly and spreading the information on a huge platform like his only helped boost the commercials. he left in the educational bits and made occasional statements about how you don't need to be embarrassed about your periods. Overal, this was honestly a great video.

As a female, I can say "gyno" is a sincere term; the myth of losing your virginity if you use a tampon is genuinely believed by some; and having a "combo" of preferred sanitary products is popular, e.g you may have certain tampons you like to use in the daytime and XL pads for night time.
You should have done this video with a female counterpart to highlight the facts.

The point of the video is to laugh at Amy and her ads, but James didn’t know/understand a lot of the information in the video so many his comments were inaccurate. Mstly4lg was just informing James of his mistakes so that he and his audience know the truth and aren’t misled. How is this a bad thing?

Also he didn't make fun of using multiple sizes of tampons, he made fun of the use of the word "combo" because it reminded him of fighting games. That actually something that I’m not sure they should put in their add because I switched to o.b. Because they have a variety pack with 3 sizes. It is cheaper than getting multiple packs and it’s just one box you can put in your purse. As per add you should buy two giant boxes with different sizes. Weird marketing considering the competition has a great solution for it. (As for the informational part of the add I can see how it is useful for young girls who might not have gotten a good sex education or don’t know what they need yet).

This is the first one of his videos I felt the need to dislike. It was hard for me to do, but it wasn’t really about Any Schumer. It was about an ad campaign to correct misinformation. The video could of benefited if he had just talked to at least one girl.
I think people like you forget he lives in a different society. I’ve never heard about the “tampon can make you lose your virginity”, neither do we have a stigma against sanitary products. I grew up with tampons and pads offered freely in public bathrooms. So I think people need to realize that we don’t all live the exact same lives.

Hey as a young women these are actually really helpful. There IS a lack of sex and reproductive education, at least in the US; and videos quell scary and harmful myths about periods, vaginas, and tampons. Although it was kinda tacky, these videos are good, and I’m sure any young teens girls would feel grateful to have this if they feel like they can’t talk to someone. Thanks

It's actually pretty common for women to go "Oh my gyno said...." or "I've got a gyno appt."
I know this is supposed to be satire, but this whole video comes off as horrifically ignorant. Maybe a man shouldn't be commenting on menstruating???? These questions came up a lot in my sex ed classes, and I was quite lucky to have very good sex ed - not many people do so covering it in an advert is a really good idea!
Also the comment he made on the looks of the health worker was completely unnecessary and rude, I don't think now is the time to be making comments on health workers.
I think it's okay if men talk or comment about menstruation - prohibiting people to talk about subjects they don't personally experience is iffy logic imo. The problem is when when people speak with ignorance yet have authority or influence (which James does in this video) & don't consult ppl who DO have personal experience. People like him who have an audience should be held accountable,.try their best to stay informed & rectify the situation when they miss the mark. Such a huge chunk of the comments are expressing disappointment or dissatisfaction towards James' take on the subject. If he addresses the shortcomings of this video, that'd be awesome but considering the favorable like ratio on this video - unfortunately, I doubt he will

115% could have been worded better but what was meant by that statement is that when a bio woman reaches sexual maturity having regular menstrual cycles is an indicator that they are now able to become pregnant. So, yes if our mothers did not have their period we would not exist. Women go through an entire 28 day cycle (approx.) That includes more than just the expulsion of an unused egg (period) ovulation is a part of that cycle and during that time a woman is most likely to become pregnant. Biologically the first period is the start of this cycle which will end once the woman reaches menopause. Basically biologically we can not reproduce without periods... The constant fluctuation of hormones that allow the body to prepare for reproduction and the eventual expulsion of that egg so that process can begin again. Sadly, that was lost through Amy's flat jokes.

I love James videos but this one kinda felt like a miss. He just didn’t really know about periods and stigmas women face so it was a little disappointing to watch.

But in a way I think that says a lot. We shouldn't be embarrased about it, we should be better educated about it and the fact that he assumes because that's how it should be shows the state of the situation. And maybe his attitude toward it while help ease the embarrasement, even just a little. James isn't awkward or embarrased about it so why should the person having their period be awkward or embarrased?
But yeah it is awkward, embarrasing and even as an adult, after having a child I still find it awkward talking about it sometimes.
This video seemed to be less about Amy Schumer and more about how little James knows/understands aboout menstruation. To be honest James, I am a loyal subscriber, and as a woman am very disappointed by the way you went about it.

I'm a woman and I saw very little wrong with the video in terms of the source material- clearly he is not a woman, so he can't deliver the same perspective, and he is not an educational channel to begin with. He left in educational parts of the ads, but was overall more focused on Amy's stale performances. He was able to speak openly about period products without shying away from general terms and sensitive topics, which is what most women should be able to do anyways, because it's nothing to be ashamed of. I don't understand people's expectancy for him to do intensive research or somehow completely understand what women go through without spreading ANY slight misinformation when he is in fact (1) not a woman and (2) not a seriously-researched channel. He handled it well enough for the type of content that he makes.
Could he have handled it better? Definitely, yes. But the focus was largely on Amy Schumer, it's a video about her terrible comedy, not about women's menstrual problems.

This video was more cringy because of James' comments than because of Amy. I love his videos and his humor but this one is a big No. I see a lot of people in the comments talk about how little education there is on menstrual related topics in the US. I'm Argentinian and it's the same here, I don't think there's a place on earth where menstruation is talked about with freedom and with the responsibility and respect it requires. This video was irresponsible. It's really frustrating hearing cis men undermine our experiences and battles, because yes, talking about this topics freely IS a battle. Having access to education and the resources for menstrual hygiene IS a battle and a privilege, especially in underdeveloped countries like mine. I suggest next time you do a little bit more research or simply step away from topics you're not familiar with. I trust you will do better.

When I was in year 7 or 8 I remember having sex ed class and being given a bunch of sanitary products that I kept in my bag for months, in case I needed them and, once, they fell out of my bag (when I hadn't even gotten my first period yet) and my friend told me that I needed to pick them up quickly and hide them.
When, as a man, he said it shouldn't be that hard to ask for a tampon, the world felt like a better place.
Young girls need to hear things like this.
I admit that I'm somewhat awkward about menstruation, BUT no more than I am about other bodily functions. Talking about my period feels about the same as talking about my bowel movements - a lil icky and generally something I wouldn't shout from the rooftop, but at the same time it's obviously not a huge deal because it's perfectly normal.

Jokes like ‘it’s her time of the month’, telling people to conceal their sanitary products, or laughing at someone when there’s blood on their trousers is where we’re at right now. As someone who only uses pads, one of my greatest fear ever since I was 12 years old has been getting a surprise period and needing to ask someone for a feminine hygiene product and they only have tampons. LUCKILY I've been good at always keeping a stash in my bag, and worst case scenario I'll just use a bunch of toilet paper - who hasn't used that trick at least once in their life?
i don't know if it is why but i went to an all girls school so we was always shouting across classrooms asking for painkillers, pads, tampons, whatever, so i'm probably too comfortable with the concept but, if it makes you feel any better, no woman cares, we all go through it at some point, and we gotta support sisters out here so please please don't stress about it!!

Yeah, I was going to say this. No matter how stupid a rumour is, somebody will believe it. My mum wasn't keen on me using tampons when I started my period for this exact reason. I'd been horse riding for years, so I don't think I had a hymen anyway! It's good to bust these myths, but definitely in a less annoying and roundabout way. People don't have the attention span for cutesy random "comedy" in educational ads.

Also it is actually a really taboo subject in almost all cultures. I was talking about my period in class once and some boys told me to stop because it was gross and no one wanted to hear it :))) In developing countries it’s even more so, where a lot of girls are ashamed about it and often drop out of education due to the lack of access to sanitary products. Amy Schumer, eh, but I’m glad that period education is being spread and normalised, because it’s been something that almost all girls have been told (or picked up on) that they should be ashamed of it. (I won’t even start on period poverty since it’s not directly related to my point but,,, yeah there’s a lot you missed in this) :((

You go in for testing, any random issues you might be having. Women’s health goes way beyond periods, pregnancies, and abortions. There’s mammograms that you also go to see a gyno at.
