That's TA fishing! Nice session there on a non standard bait :) I haven't fished in the UK since the 80's. The Roach and Rudd fishing doesn't seem to be what it used to be size wise. Last time I tried prawns in a river I was after good Perch. What happened though is I hooked what I can only assume was a Salmon or big Sea Trout. It stripped about 100 yards of 8 pound line and pinged off when it hit the end. Nothing I could do. It was like hooking a shark on a pole. I didn't have any say over it. I just stood there watching the line peel off until there was non left. I'm gonna give Prawns another go soon though - Perch are my winter species and I've been chucking Prawns into a few spots for the last month or so. Hopefully it'll pay off when I start using them as bait.
That seat collapse caught me as much by surprise as it did you !! 😂 I've used prawns for bream.. I like experimenting with "novelty" baits, I've also caught 'em on malteazers & mini marshmallows !! 🙃 😎👍☘️🍺

Thanks Graeme, I enjoyed that. I've also gone and ordered a hoody so I'm a proper Awesome Angler now. Keep up the good work. And if my test results are negative tomorrow "Fingers crossed" I'll be out next week fishing my local lake.

Prawns are THE go to bait for most fishing in Australia. This time of year is when they start moving down the creeks and rivers out to sea so every man and his dog will be out netting. A lot of river mouths end up looking like a car park at around Christmas. Traditonal Christmas Day fare in Queensland includes a leg ham, a roast of some sort - usually pork, a few kilos of prawns and a pavlova.
Fair play Graene great vid! I do videos on tournament and distance casting and decided today to film a fishing trip and it was an absolute nightmare trying to film it all with uneven ground, kit and bait everywhere, 3 rods, slippy rocks. Dont think people realise the effort goes into a lot of these videos thanks enjoy them.
Its fine when you have 2 people, one does the filming etc,the other does the posing etc,but making a film entirely on your own (without doing it over several days, mostly just a few hours) is actually full on and can be quite stressful. Wait till the camera goes over on the tripod and smashes..even more fun..You need over 100 clips at least to allow for editing, unless you just gawp into the lens all the time while talking .I've always done photo journalism years ago so I know the importance of extra shots...Good luck with your next sesh.
There usually is, telling me I'm doing it all wrong....of course the fish don't read the comments section luckily so I'll just keep on bending the rod.
Now we are at the time of year where the dark mornings means its time for a TA Fishing video before I drain one of my garden ponds (hoping to get rid of all blanket weed and duck weed). What an excellent video to start the day. Never used prawns, then we didn't have supermarkets in the 60's. That looked like a great venue, plenty of bins for rubbish so no excuses to leave any on the bank. Lets look at your fishing was that six/seven varieties on the prawn amazing. No swearing on camera (collapsed chair) I bet there was a bit off camera. You bring a bit of sunshine into our lives with your videos Graeme so thanks for posting.
In the late 1960's I was catching on fresh brown shrimps that I could buy from the local wet fishmonger. Wrote an article in the old ANGLING magazine edited by Brian Harris, article called "Shrub on Shrimp.Hic" so anyone who has a vintage copy of the mag can check that I do not speak with forked tongue (except to the wife when I want to go fishing)...I haven't seen fresh brown shrimps around for years...But then you don't see the fishmongers in my town shops any more, mostly in supermarkets if anything.
@@TAFishing I used to have a book called Mr Crabtree goes fishing (illustrated for us thickies) I read and re-read it countless times. "He" would use baits like par boiled potato and the more common baits like maggots, worms bread etc. Never caught on par boiled potato but still had fun trying.
Fabulous video Graeme 👌 🎣. I meanly use prawns for steelhead & pink salmon, over here in B.C 🇨🇦. Well you know the score 😉 . I live a 7 minutes drive from the Frazer River & Stave river , & 10 minutes hike to Haywood lake 😀. I definitely take advantage, of every opportunity to fish 😀😃
