    For additional information, the road that you added as drone footage was recently opened. Dongmyo, the Kings and Queens' shire, was connected to another place with a gate just like these days. However, just a couple of years ago, it was cut by a road that was built during the Japanese occupation of the Joseon Dynasty. The Japanese people believed in some sort of superstition or Shintoism, which claimed that cutting off the road towards their ancestral place could sever the flow of good fortune and protection from their ancestors. As a result, they cut the road and destroyed the gate connecting the shrine and the place. This demolition lasted for many years. Also, due to financial issues and other reasons, the Korean government coudln’t restore it to its former state. Eventually, they chose to place the road underground instead of blocking it, and they rebuilt the missing gate and pathway. Voila! That is the backstory of the place you visited 😊

    Many Koreans especially living in Seoul like that Palace. Because it is not flashy or outstanding, but quiet and pure place.

    The kings and queens are not buried there.They rest under the gigantic mounds of graves in various areas.The shirines are for memorial rites. BTW they are not temples.You can find many beautiful temples around the country.

      What is a Temple?

    • @miedosuthard9475
      @miedosuthard9475 Год назад +1

      @Steve-Owens Though a temple can mean any worship building of different religions, in Korea it most likely means a place of Buddhist worship. Since the Three Kingdoms Period, the Buddhism has been the most prominent religion in Korea,though Christianity has had a rapid growth(both Catholicism and Protestant).

      @@miedosuthard9475 I was told that agnosticism is now the fastest growing belief system in Korea.. I can't confirm that, just what I had heard, do you think this may be true?

    Only the Buddhist temples and the palaces are allowed to use the decorative painting, so it might be confusing. But, temples and palaces are very different.

  • @henricharriere5188
    @henricharriere5188 Год назад +8

    You can see the road across the palace. 11:01
    That road was built by Japan in the early 20th century to tear the palace in two when they invaded Korea.
    Currently, the two spaces are connected by making a tunnel on the road.
