I so agree with Loraine Parry. I needed some group support with my babies as shown in the video. It would have helped tremendously. Suffered in silence, or when I did speak of it to someone, I was given a standard critical answer, "You'll get over it." No I didn't and it lasted much longer than was healthy.

Thank you Duchess Catherine for taking on this roll. This was not addressed 60 years ago, I was given electric shock treatment! It took me many years of struggle to overcome the effects. I am so glad women can now ask, and expect to get help. Still a long way to go, but with your help I’m sure more notice will be taken.
So sorry you were put through that. Even as recently as 30 years ago, no one cared if you had the baby blues as they called it, it was a case of get over it don't complain and be super women. No wonder so many women of those generations were so broken through life.

What Duchess Catherine has stated in this video is 100 percent correct. Mental health for mothers (I would say parents) is crucial at the first signs of post partem depression and / or anxiety. My father's first wife committed suicide in post partem depression when there was no assistance or support for such a condition other than, "snap out of it and feed your child!" or "don't be so selfish." Yes, in the late 1940s and 50s that was the "solution" and so grateful that in 2022 we know how to identify the symptoms and there are viable and practical solutions, resources and support! assistance is just one phone call away.
So many are affected and desperately need support and reassurances. Thank you for sharing your family tragedy it helps young Mums to know they can get help and to ask for help Dads need to be assured as well that this is a passing illness with kindness and open disscussion things will improve. I know because I was one but only had my GP for help luckily he understood as his wife had gone through it as well.
Thank you Catherine. This is so true. We run a toddler group at the Chapel in our village every week, and we can sense how these young mums benefit greatly from sharing with each other, and even with us oldies who run the group. We continue to hold all young parents in prayer during this time and moving forward. God bless you, you're such a jewel in the Crown of our Royal family 👑🙏and A Super Mum to boot 🇬🇧💐

Yes ,from the moment of conception , the pregnancy, the birth and all a new baby comes with, Catherine certainly understands. She’s relatable on many levels on this subject. She experienced difficult sickness. We do not really know if she suffered from the baby blues. Just because she has help, it’s the hormonal roller coaster that can bring that on postpartum depression. She shows her heart in talking about this.
@marie landry a rare disease 20 years ago that left me severely disabled, l try not to dwell on the constant pain i'm in and that i'm on morphine for, the 15 months l was in hospitals l saw people who
were really suffering, Motor Neurone Disease and other such cruel illnesses and i've felt so bad for them
l had depression as did my mother
severe morning sickness is awful, and it was concerning, but she was back doing engagements later in her pregnancies

Wow! Such a fabulous woman and an inspiration for all parents suffering with their mental health. When I had my child over 20 years ago I developed pre-eclampsia. Both mine and my child's life was nearly lost and it left me with crippling anxiety, panic attacks and PTSD. I didn't enjoy being a new mum to my only child because of this and I didn't get the help I needed at the time from my GP and other health professionals. I'm a counsellor now for anyone who is suffering with mental ill health and I have first hand insight of just how hard it can be when you are suffering with your mental health as a new parent.
Catherine has come “into her own”. What a beautiful soul. 🇬🇧

But think how lucky we have been all these years, well at least me at the age of 92 soon to be 93 on June 19th.
