    Several months ago I grabbed an old hood and fender that I still practice on between the occasional weekend job.
    Helps with reducer choices, gun settings and techniques.
    I paint the hood flat on a stand and the fender propped up, like they would be on the vehicle.
    The results have been better results and fewer screwups on people's cars.

    "What do we have here ..." love that!!! Keep doing it. It's your trade-mark. Love the alter-ego character too... At 1st, thought it cheezy, but as a content creator, one needs a technique to deliver info that wouldn't fit otherwise - so it has utility to develop alter characters. Music and voice overlay s... it all works man. You have a great formula. I know you have the other channel too, but I like the creativity on this one. Hey Trigger. You spray wet coats. I'm a DIY warrior but I know that with wet coats your metallic flakes lie correctly. ..I soon learnt that dryish coats from the gun look crap! I wonder if people who get stripes are spraying dry....or not consistent wet coats (some bits wet, other bits dryer). Just a thought. Great channel...always a must watch for me.

    • @thetriggerman954
      @thetriggerman954  3 месяца назад

      Thank you John I appreciate you my man, Yeah it could be a number of things That will cause that Maybe that's why I couldn't duplicate stripes because I spray wet. Maybe the dry spraying is the real issue. 🤔 Now that's a step I'm not willing to take even if I am trying to get stripes 😂 Because then it needs to be scuffed back down smooth and reapplied.

    In the early days when i started out, i used to get stripes only on the hood. The only thing i got it when i had stripes is poor overlap and small gun pattern especially when u got the materials right. Like trigger said, just spray it wet and overlap ur passes tight and it will solve the issue. Drop coat criss cross does help alot but if only if you notice a little stripes usually can get it by drop coat.

    When you blow in the sealer, if you are using waterborne base or do not have the wetbed you use spray bomb blender on the edges to melt them in.
    The striping I have ran into was using low voc solvent as the reducer for that is always too fast, especially the cheap stuff.

    Hey Trigger i just received my new sagola 4600 digi new version today and wondered if you could give me a few tips of where you set yours up at as far as psi and material knob and so on? I never used the xtreme as i usually use sata's and devilbiss dv1 for my base. I got this gun in the 1.2xl version and really want to give it a whirl but i know from your videos that it can be a fire hose...lol
    Id really appreciate any pointers you could throw me to get it setup close to get this bad boy slinging some clear.....thanks brother as always and keep the videos coming !!!

    • @thetriggerman954
      @thetriggerman954  3 месяца назад

      If you were spraying the DV1 it's definitely going to be a fire hose. Start with 2 turns out of the fluid. See how it works then adjust from there. Fan you can go Full/wide open. And start at 27psi and adjust up if you need to I run them right around 27-29psi. Hope that helps. Nice gun enjoy spray on brother 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

    Reason you can't get stripes is because you're spraying perpendicular to the panel because you're so used to doing it correctly. It's not uneven overlapping that will cause stripes, but spraying at a slight angle, or inconsistent angles as you overlap. Happens when people can only pay attention to one thing at a time while spraying, and their eyes are focused on coverage, and their body is focused on distance, so then they can barely pay attention to their speed until something else becomes second nature and frees up some cognitive processing power to pay attention to something else. For most people, how they hold the gun is the last thing they really work on because you can get away with doing it wrong spraying most products, but sooner or later you run into silver metallic and you go and spray how you normally spray and can't figure out why you're getting stripes. The problem is, no amount of advice or tips from exoerienced painters will remedy striping until you address how you hold your gun. You can go up and down and the result will be that you just end up having vertical stripes instead of horizontal. Ask me how i know? I don't speak from experience, rather, what I realized in frustration due to inexperience

    • @thetriggerman954
      @thetriggerman954  2 месяца назад

      Yeah man I remember my first few years it was a challenge. Crazy part is every paint manufacturer has a different way they want you to Spray. Sherwin Williams solvent was the easiest for me because they wanted you to spray the metallics wet on wet so you can't really mess that up. In my opinion. Thanks for chiming in my man you sound like you've had your fair share of metallic troubles as well 💪🏼🤙🏼

    Good prep work trigger! The guy with the striping is painting in too hot environment/reducer or his gun isnt spraying an even pattern or the pressure is set too high. I have a Gun that no matter how I set it, its heavy on the top and bottom of the spray pattern. should throw it out because it cost me a lot of work and paint until I figured it out. A good gun can really help with issues like that and keeping it very clean!

    I have that same car in LC9Z black. I wonder if these new guns are any easier than the guns i'm familiar with. For solvent. I have had the best results with the old nr2000. For water i found the 5000rp 1.2 worked the best. I tried using wsb hvlp for 2 years and it was actually hurting me with certain color blends. You apply base very wet. That actually helps not get stripes. I know a painter who paints everything with a Satajet 90 1.3sl. He does crazy silver blends with it and all. I could not do it and i've tried

    • @thetriggerman954

      Yeah you're right about me spring wet that's probably why I can't get the stripes. Maybe the main issue is people are spraying them too dry. And I'm definitely not going to spray some dry metallics to demo what not to do in a video, that means I would have to send all that crap back down 😭 And I sprayed my SATA jet90 doing metallics for years with no issues that's definitely one of my all-time favorites.

    Painted a bonnet today there was some old standox paint in the shop so my boss gave me it for coverage, I didn’t think to read the tds brother I got mottle which is something that hasn’t happens to me since my first year of painting, man the base was drying glossy I was sitting there using a blower blowing it thinking it ain’t dry but it was dry just dried glossy, by time I put the actual paint on which is onwings paints, it looked good but once I cleared it the Mottle showed, what did I do wrong trigger? Have you sprayed standox before? How do I prevent that mottling when it happens and how do I get rid of mottling once it happens, usually I just dust coat last coat and it goes but it didn’t work this time trigger

    • @thetriggerman954
      @thetriggerman954  3 месяца назад +1

      I think standox is the only paint I haven't sprayed but I can't see it being any different than all the other paints. Maybe the 2 different paints we somewhat reacting, or the old paint was reduced with something that affected the top coat. Many things could be the reason when you're doing stuff like that.
