Great video Karl. We are waiting for Aquamarina to come back to us to confirm the material thickness. I will also send them a link to your video, including your comments on the foot rest. Thank you again for your custom.
I recently started using an XL yoga block wedged between the sides of my inflatable kayak as a footrest, works great! You can actually use your feet to push when paddling 👍🏻
Remarkable! It's an almost identical design to the Aquaglide Cirrus, but sized between the 110 and 150. Considering Aquaglide has be acquired by Connelly Skis, who also owns BOTE, and the brand has been a bit in limbo for the last year, this is a great alternative for those interested in the ultralight, fused tube, TPU construction.
@@MoreThanJustaCleaner I noticed, on the Aqua Marina website, they had a demo video where the kayaks were used on whitewater rapids. It made me take a second look at the design and realize that the placement of the d-rings along the floor would lend well to universal thigh straps, making this a quite capable ducky for the more daring (unhinged) of us 😂
Ey up me duck. I was thinking the canal looked familiar just as you said you were on the Beeston canal. Near the Marina on the Trent and just down from Beeston lock (lovely cafe there overlooking the weir) I've walked that canal many times into Nottingham City centre. Wish I'd have known I'd have come said hello 🙂
The light colour is an advantage. I’ve recently bought a Gumotex Rush 1 (black side tubes ) and a Razor R2, which has dark blue side tubes, and I have to be vigilant in venting air on sunny days on both boats. At these price points I think manufacturers should offer overpressure valves. I have the same issue with foot braces on the R2, which is a 2 person boat, as you have with the Halve. In the end I have found the rear seat position, with gear in the bows to help with the trim, works best. Good review. It will be interesting to know the spec for the TPU and make a like for like comparison with a big packraft. I have to say at this money I’d probable lean towards an MRS S1D, not as big but, perhaps a better buy? Keep up the good work Karl.
Just a thought but ould you run some para cord between the d rings and attach the foot brace somewhere along the cord that suits? You could tie some knots in the cord to give locations so the foot rest could be adjusted to the paddlers preference? Hope that makes sense.😊
Great early review and paddle mate, lots of pros and not so many cons, I hav'nt priced it yet tho. I like the fact its wide therefore much more stable for more choppier conditions and those squeaky bum higher launching points/pontoons etc. The footrest can be tweaked to suit for the shorter single folk paddlers, my engineering head is onto it as we speak.
Nice review but to me it looks a bit bright. I wonder if you cut a pool noodle the width of the boat and wedge it up against the foot brace it might work. Looking forward to the River Trent outing.
@@kaisermojica4216 I don't know about the 150 because I don't have one. The 110 feels a bit more robust, and for the size of craft this one is lighter than the Cirrus on a ratio basis.
Great content, me and my wife are entering the world of kayaking hopefully soon, I still a bit scared to purchase mine but I got my eye on the tandem aqautec pro. I was just wondering if my wife decides after a while she does not like it, if it’s a boat you can use for single kayaking. Would you have any idea on that? And is my choice of the aqatec a good choice? I also was hoping if I could get some tips on wat to wear in different conditions, might be a video idea on its own ? Anyways enough talk I love the content keep rocking!
@@sebvanderzwaan7872 hi there 😊 I've only ever seen the Aquatec tandem once. You can see it in a recent video on Chesterfield Canal where I'm in the invisible boat 😉😊 I had a chat with the couple who owned it. You might find it worth watching if you haven't seen it. I have done a winter kayaking clothing video here ruclips.net/video/-pTFihI6S5c/видео.html My top tip in general is, don't wear cotton. It holds water and is slow to dry, so it can sap your body heat. You want poly fibres, outdoor walking layers that kind of thing - top and bottom.
I'm a bit gutted now I've seen this as only just bought an aqua glide deschutes 145 because it was light weight. Now this is about 5kg lighter and a drop stitch base. Bugger!
Hello, good review, any info on what TPU weight (240,420,840?) and if it's simple side TPU or doubled, aqua marina trend to be "greedy" on her materials (PVC 600d when others are 1000D...) but with good assembly and control quality
Looks like Tpu will be the next big thing. At least it's more ecofriendly then pvc but this interpretation of the Aquamarina, also due to the colour of the kayak, almost translucent, seems really not very robust. I'd stick with the Cirrus ;-)
Hate to be a bother, but I have another question... I notice that the floor looks to be a common drop stitch inflatable floor. However, I notice that the included pump is a foot pump. The lowest pressure drop stitch I've come across is 6psi, but the foot pump only inflates to 2psi. Is this a low pressure floor that just has the look of a high pressure, drop stitch floor?
@@MoreThanJustaCleaner I noticed your pump kicked into high pressure compressor mode, so that makes sense. I just thought it was odd that they include a pump that can't handle all chambers of inflation when they market a 1 bar pump under their label. Thanks for the response!
Hello again. This might be a stupid question but how do you stay so dry when paddling.......when I go out I seem to get a bit wet ...and before you ask, no I'm not a crazy paddler 😂 Also what's the brown pad thing in the front?
@@ianthorn4536 the longer paddle, especially with the pool noodle hack helps you stay dry 👍 The bath mat idea I got from the River Rat. Keeps the boat cleaner.
@@johnhancock-x1x I'm not really sure what you're asking... Too cheap for what? If it does what you want it to do and lasts a reasonable amount of time and you're willing to pay the price, then no.
