  • LightinPrison.org interviews graduates of the Insight Gardening Program run in the San Quentin State Prison. These men have returned home to living wage jobs provided by Planting Justice in Oakland, California. Participants in this program have maintained a 0% recidivism rate over the 6 years it has been in existence, an incredible improvement over the ~ 61% rate of returning prisoners statewide.
The Insight Gardening Program teaches not only "outer gardening" but also focuses on "inner gardening" to help current inmates develop the real life skills and mental outlook that helps them emerge from prison successfully and not return.
The Pathways 2 Resilience program provides comprehensive support for post-release inmates to ensure a 100% success rate.
Light in Prison shares inspiring stories about transformational programs that are helping to heal the broken criminal justice system.
