I’m an atheist, but I can’t help tearing up when I sing along. This song is beyond powerful
#rewind Back in 2012 Alkaline Trio delivered a killer performance for our At: Guitar Center webseries. All we could say was "Hell Yes".
I buy all of my instruments from guitar center and have for years, the Dallas location customer service skills have done much in encourageing me to further my musical training on my own since leaving the Avon Lake, Ohio School system where I was Classically trained. Among the noteworthy instructors in both Choral and Instramental were Mr. Ross, who told me that I was able to play by ear, and Mr. Phingston, who coincidentally dated my aunt Darleen, were instramental in singing the complete Handels Messiah and Playing while simultaneously being conducted a piece by Vaclav Nelibell. ( Not quite sure of spelling)
Cool _ Like Jam with'em.
live in Dallas tx
No Michigan. We have pretty good music here too.
With that mowtown history can you send me liknk to any of you new stuff, the blues died in deep elm dallas in 30's

ALKALINE TRO NEVER DISAPPOINTS !!!
Love this version. Skiba is amazing..most influential person.
This 17 year alk fan say what we all really love is Matts' lyrics above any vocal acrobatics and I am very impressed by this performance I stumbled (or CRAWLED) upon thanks for posting!
Loved these guys since 2007.

Yep, I've been seduced by Mr. Skiba...
André Pansera O Pansera tá em todas
Channeling Meg on that kit! The groove is lovely dark and deep.
Saw this video a while back and bought the fender Malibu right after...sick guitar
Is that the guitar hes using? How much was it
@@Sigillum_diaboli theyre like 300 new
@@Sigillum_diaboli I bought one, the one Matt is playing must be custom being an electro-acoustic, as retail is just acoustic. And if i'm honest, its a shit guitar, action is super high, not nice to play and it sounds like a toy, no warmth or resonance. I choose my £100 Fender CD-60 over it every single time I play something. As a matter of fact, im gonna stick it on my wall as an ornament tbf.
If their was an acoustic/electric version like Matt's playing I would've bought one too. I played one at guitar center when they were still being made. It wasnt great. Why did they water down the Malibu and then charge $100 more for it?
@@Sigillum_diaboli they were about $500 when they were made. They stopped making them in 2018. And there was never an acoustic electric like Matt is playing. Which is stupid because the standard Malibu is acoustic electric.
alkaline trio are awesome
Stunning
I had this same signature series alkaline fender Malibu guitar… it’s a smaller acoustic… how is he getting that booming voice out of this instrument… even down tuning a full step o couldn’t get that sound…
This is so good but you must hear “Winding Road” or “A Place Called Here” by SLT 🤘 🔥 🤘🔥 🤘
You sold it?
Grover.... have seen you comment on more than one video with skin a in it... so you tell me. how did you get here?
i want that acoustic
will boss me too
I fucking love the way Skiba looks right at the camera at 1:46 for the first "Hell Yes" of the song...
One of my favs
Those lyrics!
❤
This is so good but you must hear “Winding Road” or “A Place Called Here” by SLT 🤘 🔥 🤘🔥 🤘
What brand is Matt jacket?
Bless me and bless you too ❤ Ameen ❤
Nice song.

Matt just made my ovaries explode 😍
omg fr fgbrhtnjymkujynhbgvf
Love this so much
Want that guitar so bad
It's really just perfect for the band's name and branding
HELL YES!
Great song. His voice reminds me of Neil Diamond. Would love to hear this guy cover Cracklin' Rosie.
HELL YES.
Matt can't do his rasping voice anymore because after his vocal surgery he took vocal lessons, which greatly improved his vocal range, and since Matt's vocal style consisted of him singing WAY out of his vocal range, he can't do the rasp anymore. Nowadays he just sings an octave or so higher, in a 'booming' voice.
and it has nothing to do with the lack of drinking and drugs these days?
Shelter Pet no need to rerecord that masterpiece, that's what makes it special
Exactly!! His vocals make each of his songs darker and really light them up with a dark atmosphere
Saetia thank you, I’ve been trying to figure out what the hell happened haha cuz there’s an OBVIOUS change from Good Mourning to Crimson. I know during GM he was sick but still, while I like his “newer” singing style, I miss the raspiness
His rasp was due to gastric reflux caused by heavy drinking.
I think of this song when after work I have that glass of something alcoholic
Muito Bom ☆ Ótima Performance 🤘🏽
The drummer's mom was a high priestess in Anton Lavey's Church of Satan, but he joined the band many years after this song was written, that is a weird coincidence.
hell yes.
Dan got a Mike dirnt bass there?
I went to Steve's Music the other day (the one in Montreal) and they were selling it. So weird to see, ahah!
i miss old version there matt used his rasping voice
WOO GO ALKALINE TRIO!!!!!!
Can someone tab out this version for me?
just awesome...
why did he go up on that last "whispering sweet nothings" it would have added more power to the acoustic version of this like it did with the original
Does anybody else feel like that the devil is looking you in the eye at 1:47 lol
Garrett Berry lol
Garrett Berry I still love this comment haha
I have it :)
This is the best version of this song. Without a doubt.
whos's matt talking about at the beginning?
The founder of the Church of Satan and author of the satanic bible. Among other things.
The man that created the satanic bible
Daniel Schmitz Anton Lavey CIA Satanist
Google the person you idiot
Can anybody write what does he say at the beggining?? Please, for foreign people!
He was talking about Anton Lavey, who wrote the Satanic Bible. Matt was explaining that he wrote the song for him. Sorry I'm 4 years late, lol.
Wow 7 years ago
bless me dark father i have sinned, i've done it b4 & i'll do it again & again... plz never let the trio split up. the world needs them.
Derek, we miss the hell out of you buddy. Hope you're doing alright.
Wait, what happened
@@rtgseptis_2735 he hasn't toured with them in years. Last three times I saw them, two was with MCR's drummer and I can't remember who the other guy was. Alk3 has been pretty tight-lipped about it but apparently he's really struggling with bipolar disorder and possibly a drug addition. They haven't played a lot since covid so maybe he's back in full capacity. All I know is that I missed him behind the set.
@@brianlbeck ohh shit. Ok just realized. Thought he left completely or just straight up died. Thanks for clearing that up.
Praise Jesus!
TribeCalledJake 😂
Praise him, he makes AWESOME Tacos!
i always thought "hell yes" was a song about abandoning all hope and devotion to christ, or any religion really. im still going to go ahead and keep hearing the lyrics the way they first meant so much to me. 666
Thom Tilton same
Hell yes
Nop it’s about praying to Lucifer instead of Yahweh
Kinda thought the same about it
but it kinda is. thats what lavey did
Thats the equivalent to people talking about tom delounges voice changing as a musician you grow so they have for the lack of a better words "learned how to sing" .
Holy shit you predicated Matt Joining Blink.
@@colekoopmans3819 then, 2 years later I laugh at this exchange.
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤😏
Mom, look. Tom DeLonge in here!
I feel like alkaline trio really would have benefited from a 2nd guitarist playing lead. It wouldn't be a trio anymore, but the songs would be a hell of a lot more interesting. Everything else is good - great bass, lyrics, rhythm guitar, just could use a little extra something ie) riffs.
wish this wasn't mixed like shit
***** ..............you mix live audio
I own one of the little Fender Alkaline Trio acoustics identical to the one he is playing. I love it. But I'm not so hot on the idea of this song's meaning.
Sounds like Joy Division 2.0
wow like green day
green 182 hi green 182 :)
green 182 nothing like green day.
it's more gd than say Bieber is lol
lead poisoning really?? NOTHING like them? You dont even get to sit at the table while the big kids talk music. Even without knowing Green Day are one of Skiba’s absolute favorite bands the stylistic similarities are apparent. Chords, melody, rhythm section especially... The bands have the same influences and are from the same general era and musical movement. If you play their records for someone not familiar with the genre they would likely have trouble telling them apart at first. Of course i am as aware of the differences as I am of the ones between the Kinks and the Sonics but if you think they are “nothing” alike you have a limited understanding of popular music.
Sorry, I don't speak spanish
I lost respect for them when he joined up with blink
Matt is far too good of a writer and musician for blink. And after seeing the reaction to him online I can honestly say blink fans are the fucking worst. They haven't been cool since dude ranch.
@@YeahhdudeshreditBro Blink is great. Blink is good enough for him when blink wants to be. Untitled, Neighborhoods, Dogs eating dogs is some of the best songwriting ever. Just on California they did that throwback stuff. Nine they kinda tried to move forward.
Shame, the overall sound was just a cacophony.
Actually felt really disappointed after viewing that. And such a good song too.
Terrible sound!
