I buy all of my instruments from guitar center and have for years, the Dallas location customer service skills have done much in encourageing me to further my musical training on my own since leaving the Avon Lake, Ohio School system where I was Classically trained. Among the noteworthy instructors in both Choral and Instramental were Mr. Ross, who told me that I was able to play by ear, and Mr. Phingston, who coincidentally dated my aunt Darleen, were instramental in singing the complete Handels Messiah and Playing while simultaneously being conducted a piece by Vaclav Nelibell. @@Sigillum_diaboli I bought one, the one Matt is playing must be custom being an electro-acoustic, as retail is just acoustic. If their was an acoustic/electric version like Matt's playing I would've bought one too. I played one at guitar center when they were still being made. It wasnt great. Why did they water down the Malibu and then charge $100 more for it?
@@Sigillum_diaboli they were about $500 when they were made. They stopped making them in 2018. And there was never an acoustic electric like Matt is playing. Which is stupid because the standard Malibu is acoustic electric.
I had this same signature series alkaline fender Malibu guitar… it’s a smaller acoustic… how is he getting that booming voice out of this instrument… even down tuning a full step o couldn’t get that sound…
The drummer's mom was a high priestess in Anton Lavey's Church of Satan, but he joined the band many years after this song was written, that is a weird coincidence.
Matt can't do his rasping voice anymore because after his vocal surgery he took vocal lessons, which greatly improved his vocal range, and since Matt's vocal style consisted of him singing WAY out of his vocal range, he can't do the rasp anymore. Nowadays he just sings an octave or so higher, in a 'booming' voice.
Saetia thank you, I’ve been trying to figure out what the hell happened haha cuz there’s an OBVIOUS change from Good Mourning to Crimson. I know during GM he was sick but still, while I like his “newer” singing style, I miss the raspiness
@@rtgseptis_2735 he hasn't toured with them in years. Last three times I saw them, two was with MCR's drummer and I can't remember who the other guy was. Alk3 has been pretty tight-lipped about it but apparently he's really struggling with bipolar disorder and possibly a drug addition. They haven't played a lot since covid so maybe he's back in full capacity. All I know is that I missed him behind the set.
Thats the equivalent to people talking about tom delounges voice changing as a musician you grow so they have for the lack of a better words "learned how to sing" .
i always thought "hell yes" was a song about abandoning all hope and devotion to christ, or any religion really. im still going to go ahead and keep hearing the lyrics the way they first meant so much to me. 666
I feel like alkaline trio really would have benefited from a 2nd guitarist playing lead. It wouldn't be a trio anymore, but the songs would be a hell of a lot more interesting. Everything else is good - great bass, lyrics, rhythm guitar, just could use a little extra something ie) riffs.
I own one of the little Fender Alkaline Trio acoustics identical to the one he is playing. I love it. But I'm not so hot on the idea of this song's meaning.
lead poisoning really?? NOTHING like them? You dont even get to sit at the table while the big kids talk music. Even without knowing Green Day are one of Skiba’s absolute favorite bands the stylistic similarities are apparent. Chords, melody, rhythm section especially... The bands have the same influences and are from the same general era and musical movement. If you play their records for someone not familiar with the genre they would likely have trouble telling them apart at first. Of course i am as aware of the differences as I am of the ones between the Kinks and the Sonics but if you think they are “nothing” alike you have a limited understanding of popular music.
Matt is far too good of a writer and musician for blink. And after seeing the reaction to him online I can honestly say blink fans are the fucking worst. They haven't been cool since dude ranch.
@@YeahhdudeshreditBro Blink is great. Blink is good enough for him when blink wants to be. Untitled, Neighborhoods, Dogs eating dogs is some of the best songwriting ever. Just on California they did that throwback stuff. Nine they kinda tried to move forward.
#rewind Back in 2012 Alkaline Trio delivered a killer performance for our At: Guitar Center webseries. All we could say was "Hell Yes".

I’m an atheist, but I can’t help tearing up when I sing along. This song is beyond powerful
Channeling Meg on that kit! The groove is lovely dark and deep.

Those lyrics!

Great song. His voice reminds me of Neil Diamond. Would love to hear this guy cover Cracklin' Rosie.
❤
This is so good but you must hear “Winding Road” or “A Place Called Here” by SLT 🤘 🔥 🤘🔥 🤘
I went to Steve's Music the other day (the one in Montreal) and they were selling it. So weird to see, ahah!

I think of this song when after work I have that glass of something alcoholic
i miss old version there matt used his rasping voice
why did he go up on that last "whispering sweet nothings" it would have added more power to the acoustic version of this like it did with the original

and it has nothing to do with the lack of drinking and drugs these days?
Shelter Pet no need to rerecord that masterpiece, that's what makes it special
Exactly!! His vocals make each of his songs darker and really light them up with a dark atmosphere

His rasp was due to gastric reflux caused by heavy drinking.
just awesome...

Kinda thought the same about it
but it kinda is. thats what lavey did
whos's matt talking about at the beginning?
The founder of the Church of Satan and author of the satanic bible. Among other things.
The man that created the satanic bible
Daniel Schmitz Anton Lavey CIA Satanist
Google the person you idiot
Praise Jesus!
TribeCalledJake 😂
Praise him, he makes AWESOME Tacos!
Can anybody write what does he say at the beggining?? Please, for foreign people!
He was talking about Anton Lavey, who wrote the Satanic Bible. Matt was explaining that he wrote the song for him. Sorry I'm 4 years late, lol.
