"the writing itself was crap but we're gonna overlook that👌" LOL I've never heard anything more relatable in my life This gave me second-hand excitement vee, I can't wait for the day you publish one of your stories 🥰
Okay not that you asked but something that helps me with a boring scene or chapter is to think about scenarios / situations / settings that I enjoy reading about characters being in and then incorporate that! For example if certain dialogue or interactions need to happen, can they be on a hike or at the library or even grocery shopping haha (whatever would be fun blocking for your characters to move through 🤗
this is SUCH a helpful tip, thank you!! ahh i'm already getting ideas for how i can spruce it up🤩setting especially is something that i tend to be pretty generic with, in first drafts but the setting of a scene can be so useful for enhancing the situation or what's going on so i'm definitely going to be looking out for ways to best make use of that!! thanks for sharing, i appreciate it🥰
OMG i so appreciate the reminder about Romancing The Beat, i've been meaning to read that for ages! and i love your message that it's okay (and honestly to be expected) that first drafts/discovery drafts are not usually good! the whole point is to just get SOMETHING on paper and go from there, yay for just starting without judging the work 💙
you’re so welcome!! and aw thank you, i’m glad that could resonate with you and whomever needs that reminder because it’s helped me so much in my confidence as a writer and in my stories☺️🤍 ty for watching!
As a Christian Romance Author, I also study the craft of romance writing as well. Usually, the average romance novel is around 65-80,000 words. I write less than that, but I do have at least four novels along with my sixteenth and twentieth novels being around 65K or more.
Congrats on the start of your new book! It sounds amazing. On a side note, I’m a tennis fan and you and your name sake Venus Williams are sporting the same hairstyle and coloring at the moment! Cool😍
Hi hi!! If you take your 0 draft out of the manuscript folder in Scrivener it'll take those words out! I usually make an extra folder underneath characters somewhere and call it 'old draft' or something like that! Hope this helps! Love your vlog by the way! I haven't written in a bazillion years (procrastination at its finest lmfao). I'm trying to get back in the mood, and your vlogs have been helping a ton!
So glad I found your channel ♥️ love finding new writing channels but I found yours while looking for routines (srsly helps me tackle my own to do lists) and I'm happy on both fronts ☺️
Wait… chapter rating?? Perfect timing because I just started draft 2 of my novel and I’ve been reviewing my chapters. I guess I’ve mentally rated them but not officially. I think I’ll adopt that!
I have a question!!! I literally LOVE watching your aesthetic writing vlogs. They make me so happy and I could seriously binge them forever. I've really been inspired by your videos and wanna start my own authortube channel, but have NO IDEA how to start or where to start! Do you have any tips for me? Also I'll say it again I love your videos so much
AW THANK YOU ILY!!! omg pls join the authortube family🤗 i totally get not knowing where to start so i got you! first step i did after knowing this was smth i wanted to do was making the channel (so signing up for a google account, creating a YT channel, choosing my username, profile picture, banner etc.)! then it's important to decide what kind of content you want to create (vlogs, tips, etc.) and start filming them! i started with a phone and edited on imovie, it doesn't have to be fancy although what you use is entirely up to you! after uploading your first video i would highly recommend engaging with other authortubers to make friends in the community and also attract more eyes to your video and channel!! (if you make one, hit me up, i'd be so happy to give you a shoutout ;) hope this helps!! lmk if u have any more questions❤
Watching this on a beach in Egypt. You're working very hard, and I am doing the complete opposite! Great vid, looking forward to hearing more about this project. Good luck!
I have to suggest this one movie if you'd like, similar to the musician/celeb vibes of Project ITL, it's called Beyond the Lights (if you know already disregard my whole comment LOL) i highly recommend! I've rewatched it a million times lol it's so worth it and every time i watch one of your vlogs and you talk about ITL it always reminds me of the movie LOL happy writing!!
ooo i just watched the trailer and it looks so good!! i have a list in my scrivener of movies to watch to inspire this project and THIS ONE'S GOING STRAIGHT IN!! thank you so so much for the rec, ilyyy
Omg so excited for you starting a new project! I’m finishing my first ever first draft this July (Lord willing 🙏🏼) and although I love my characters and the story is very cute and charming I was mostly writing it as a challenge to myself to not quite on my stories halfway like I usually do. It’s a contemporary YA romance so I’ve been itching to start something I’m more used to (like YA fantasy). I was going to wait until Preptober to start planning but I guess I’ll probably have it all sorted out by the end of fall which is crazy to even imagine 😱
Amazing video, Vee! I can’t wait to follow your progress with project ITL! ’ll be vlogging by for camp nanowrimo, as well, so it’s great to know that we’ll be in it together! And btw, you are correct that the ideal word count for Ya romance is 70-75k! Happy writing! 💕✨💕
Thanks for the update, Vee! Glad to hear the new draft is starting out strong! and wow, 6k already! Are you going to be working on Project ITL for Camp NaNo this year?
Im also starting a new book and im SO excited about it! I feel like there's endless notes to take and plotting, and tbh i kinda hate plotting😅😅 But i feel the same as you feel, when i read the first draft of my book i got even more excited because it feels like something i would ACTUALLY read!!❤
Hello, I'm been watching you videos for a bit of a while now, they are so helpful and inspiring. I have always loved writing but been on writing block for such a long time that I forgot how to get started. Do you have any advice? I already have the title, idea of story and characters but I don't know where to start, what's the order, what all I need. Though I'm not purchasing it, I'm following thru the Nov writing challenge, in hopes I can actually finish a book in a year or less.
I just gave it a quick google some say 70k-100k word count, some say 50k-100k, and others 65k-100k. So... I guess it depends 🤷♀. Though I think the standards around 70k, like you said.

There is nothing as exciting as starting a new draft 🤗
