Thought I love the American Sound as a clean platform, my vote is with the British Sound because I love the way it crunches up, while still providing a nice clean sound for those other occasions.
Very interesting, I think you've summed them up quite well there 👍 Both pedals really open up when you engage the gain control. The British arguably has a smoother gain sweep across the range and perhaps a bit more gain at the high end too. I stand by the statement that you absolutely should own both 👍
Nice demo of both. Also worth noting that the voice knob on the British also unlocks more gain, so you can turn the drive knob down, keep the same or more gain, but reduce the noise. I have a Behringer GDI 21 which isn't quite as flexible, but also includes a California (Mesa) mode. Ola Englund does a great demo getting it to chug 🤘🏻 🎸
I've got a demo of the GDI Vs the American sound on the channel. They are all very usable pedals in their own right, all doing something different. I'll have to check out that Ola demo, cheers for letting me know 👍
I have both pedals and they are both fantastic. You can do a lot of things with them. You can play live, maybe get one DI box and go directly into PA, it can definitely replace amps, it is not the same of course, but it is pretty damn close. You can also practice with band (for an example, if you have mixer and speakers and you don't want to carry heavy amps). I recommend them even for recording. These pedals can be used professionally, in different genres of music. Whoever says that these pedals suck, he eats shit and sucks ugly dicks. Peace.
@@ruination775 some people use splitter so they can turn on and record them both in the same time, on 2 channels. Then you can put one on the left and the other on the right ;)
I've not even tried that myself. I used to use the American sound in the front end of a Blackstar HT-5 to make it sound more Fendery and it worked a treat for that 👍
@@nokieeeeee Thank you, sir! I use my American Sound connected to effects loop return and with an old FBT 12" PA speaker (full range dual cone) inside a semi-open tube amp combo cab, so it has quite flat response natural cab. But it's more accurate amp/cab sim pedal, when connected to active studio monitors via mixer, like it has been designed. Cab sim on/off switch would be perfect for those, who prefer external adjustable Impulse Responses, plugins or units. I'm going buy a British Sound pedal, too. Because I'm not happy with my combo's own preamp tone stack and eq, while power amp is OK.
@@BudgetPedalChap hey, which IR do you use in combination with them? I would like to try that. Do you use twin reverb IR for american sound, or some other?
@@skeletor.stramen there are a few places that do some decent ones for free. If you are using your computer, wall of sound by two notes is a great IR plug in or celesteon have a thing in their site that if you sign up to the news letter then you can get a few packs for free
Analog amp sim (not digital) based on the now discontinued Tech21 Character Series which included the Blond, British, Liverpool, and California. The Joyo (or Harley Benton) American is a near 100% copy of the Tech21 Blond. The American is a decent clean amp sim or clean pedal platform. You can get a little grit out of it if you are careful but is sounds like transistor amp distortion if it's gain is pushed too hard. Run other distortion and overdrives into it and it is quite good though. Plug the American into a DI for recording, headphone use, or to a PA for live and you're good to go on the cheap. The ACTone and the British both do better for gainy sounds on their own compared to the American. The Tech21 California was a Boogie sim, I don't believe that there is a Joyo or Harley Benton version of that one. The Joyo American is also sometimes referred to as the JF14.
@@BudgetPedalChap For clean tone American Sound is hard to beat. It also has whole lotta crunch when Voice knob is turned past 12 o'clock. Voice, Gain and Level knobs interact all the way.
@@BudgetPedalChap Yes, no wonder many use it as an overdrive. But I have 9 dirt pedals and an analog delay in front of it. I don't use a lot of it's gain. Voice knob is magic!

Okay. I'm from the USA but I like the British one better.
I wouldn't worry too much, both of these were made in China anyway 🤣🤣🤣

Love em both but going with the Brit sound on this one.
Yup, I think it's well justified to own both. If I had to have one, it would be the British
Can I use this in front of an amp during a live performance?

These have a cab sim frequency curve, works better when connected to amp's "effects return/power amp in" bypassing preamp.

Well, I have the British so I like it better.
Yeah, it's a great pedal 👍
This is amp sim or cab sim.?
They both are supposed to have in built cab Sims as well as the amp, but it honestly isn't great so I pair it with an IR pedal to get a better result
