The GF-BNR34 (R34) Skyline GT-R and GT-R V·spec models were released in January 1999. The R34 GT-R was also shorter (from front to rear), and the front overhang reduced. The valve covers were painted glossy red (colour code Cherry Red Effect Z24 or X1020), as opposed to black in previous models.
A new feature on the R34 GT-R is a 5.8" LCD multifunction display on the center of the dashboard, which shows seven different live readings of engine and vehicle statistics such as turbocharger pressure (1.2 bar max), oil and water temperature, among others. The GT-R V·spec model added two extra features to the display: intake and exhaust gas temperatures. Nismo Multi-function Displays (MFD) can be bought at an extra cost, they include a lap timer, G-Force meter and an increase in boost pressure measurement to 2 bar. The R34 GT-R was made shorter in response to customer concerns who thought the R33 was too bulky.
The R33 Skyline was introduced in August 1993. Slightly heavier than the R32, it was available in coupe and sedan body configurations. The R33 was the safest of the models with a rating of 3.8 out of 5.5 accordingly; the airbag system and internal crash bars made this vehicle significantly safer than previous models. All models now used a six-cylinder engine. Nissan took the unusual step of down-grading the GTS model to have only the RB20E, while the twin-cam of the R32 GTS was discontinued. The 2.0 L turbo RB20DET GTS-t was also discontinued and was replaced with the GTS-25t which was equipped with the larger RB25DET and featured HICAS as standard in all GTS-25t sub-models except the Type G.
After cancelling the Skyline GT-R in 1973, Nissan revived the GT-R again in 1989. At the time Nissan was competing in Group A Racing with the Skyline GTS-R. Nissan wanted to retire the GTS-R in favor of a more competitive vehicle. The new generation GT-R, E-BNR32 chassis (commonly shortened to R32), was designed to dominate Group A racing.

I was a kid, when I first lay eyes the beast. I wasn't less than 15 when I read an article about Nissan stopping the production of the GTR, after the release of the R34 Z-Tune. Apart from the McLaren F1 and R34/R35, no other vehicle has left me so bewildered...

Riq tard I am a car guy . I like my torque down low. I'm not a turbo guy as I like positive displacement blowers. I like fat cams with butt loads of overlap and I'm a huge fan of 90 degree v's. I'm a ford guy but LS engines are dirt cheap....granted they burn almost as much oil as a rotary but make more power in stock form with out boost. You think a rotary makes power .....two eBay turbos on a 4.8 ls , gap the factory rings and a tune......1400 hp with 7-800 ftlbs of torque.....show me a stock internal rotary making 700 lbft .....ill wait.

You won't find one cus a 1000 hp rotary will never make 700 lbft of torque. The rb is a great engine as my second love is inline sixes . they are set up for strength and are very torquie engines, that said, you can build two LS engines that make 800 horse power for the price of building one rb to make 800 horse power. I could go to any junk yard in the u.s and a hour later have a engine and trans in the bed of my f150 for 200 bucks.
