I had a profound realization last night. So profound I couldnt sleep. It was the most beautiful understanding. It has not left me and it was always there all along. How could I not notice. The simplest but over complicated because we always need to understand. Can never be understood only experienced. Peel away the illusory ego all the learning and the arising phenomenon and there you are in all your infinite glory. Now I look back at the world and I'm in love all over again. Thank you Rupert your work and the way you work has helped me more than I can say. I'm so grateful for what you have gifted to me and while I am who I am henceforth it is now my responsibility to give away the love and wisdom you have given to me. I'm so happy I cant Express in words. Good work. Sacred. Wise. Generously beautifully carried out.

I had a dream of a girl with long black hair, she said her name was Revna. I, being trainned to be very cautious to pay attention to any information being presented in the dreams, googled the name Revna immediatelly. It is a archaic name meaning Raven and I pity the man speaking about the outside input into the psyche without proper gnosis,

Here is all you need to know concerning “ thought” and “ mind”
First, spiritual satsang teacher Robert Adams:
“It has come to my attention that many of you are trying to stop your thoughts, control your thoughts. You cannot really do this. Trying to stop your thoughts, as Ramana Maharshi says, is like a thief becoming a policeman to catch the thief. In other words, the thief that becomes the policeman will not catch the thief, because he’s a thief himself. And so it is with our minds. When we use the mind to stop the thoughts, the mind will not stop the thoughts at all, because the mind wants to go on living. Stopping the thoughts is annihilating the mind, and the mind does not wish to be annihilated. The mind wants to live on, to fill you full of nonsense, superstitions. Therefore we do not try to stop thoughts. What do we really do? We do absolutely nothing. By doing absolutely nothing, the mind will begin to slow down.
Practice this right now. Allow the thoughts to come, whatever they are. Do absolutely nothing. It makes no difference what the thoughts are. Let them come, no matter how much they seem to frighten you, no matter how powerful they appear to be, let them come. Where do the thoughts come from to begin with? They come from nowhere. They do not come from consciousness. They do not come from pure awareness. They do not come from the Self. Where do the thoughts come from? From nowhere. They’re an optical illusion. They do not exist. They’re like the appearance of the sky on top of the mountain. The sky appears to be resting on top of the mountain, but it’s an optical illusion. Thoughts do not exist, whatsoever. Therefore you ask yourself: “Who’s thinking?” and you will find out, the ego is thinking. So here’s another point. When the thoughts slow down, so does the ego. The thoughts and the ego are synonymous. As the thoughts slow down, the ego slows down, and begins to also disappear with the thoughts. When there are no thoughts, there’s no ego. When there’s no ego, there’s nobody left to think. Then the question you will ask is: “How do I function without thinking?” As I mentioned in the beginning, the sage’s thoughts are like a burnt rope. They appear to be real, but they’re not. In other words, your thoughts are not real. They are false. How do you function without thoughts? Very well, thank you. Many of you still believe you have to have thoughts to function. You think you’ll become a vegetable, but you will be spontaneous without thoughts. You’ll be motivated by the Self. You will know what to do, where to go, whom to speak to, whom not to speak to, much better than you do now, much, much better. Things will happen to you spontaneously.
Everybody asks me, over and over again: “How do I hold onto the ‘I’?” By asking: “Who am I?” or just saying: “I-I, I-I, I-I.” Automatically you will notice the ‘I’ going deeper, and deeper, and deeper and deeper within your Heart, and one day you will become free. When I say hold onto the ‘I’, I mean you’re witnessing the ‘I’. You’re watching where it goes. From whence it came from and where it goes back to. But you’re already free. Why not wake up right now?
How do you make progress? By practicing the methods I share with you. By practicing Self-Inquiry. By watching as you go through life’s experiences and not reacting. Watching yourself become depressed. Watching yourself become angry. Do not deny it, but observe it. And if you observe yourself correctly in that calm way, you can ask yourself: “Who becomes angry? Who is feeling depressed?” And follow it through. Do this over and over and over again, as many times as you have to. One day, the anger will leave you, the depressions will leave you, your thoughts will leave you. And you’ll just be.
The good thing about all this, is that anybody can become liberated, at any moment. But this is because you are already liberated. If you were not liberated, you would never be able to become liberated. But because you’re already liberated, all you’re really doing is taking off the stuff that makes you think you’re not liberated, dark clouds, the layers and layers of nonsense, garbage, that you covered yourself with all of these years. The thought “I am important, I am somebody”. This is what keeps you in bondage.
Most of you have come to listen to words, but I tell you the message is in-between the words. In the silence, where there is no talk going on. That’s the message. That’s where truth is, that’s where reality is, when there are no sounds, no words. Words are only to motivate you to keep quiet. That’s all words are good for. Chanting ,words, they’re only to quiet the mind. Keep you still. In the stillness is your reality. In the quietness is your strength, not in the noise, not in the talk. Try to be quiet most of the time. Do not get involved in too many conversations.
“You have to give up the talking. You have to give up all the dogmas and confusions and nonsense. Drop it all and be still. Be still and know that I am God.”
I is the first pronoun. The second pronoun is am. When you realize “I am”, you become free.
This is called “Being”. Not being this or being that. Just plain Being. IAM. It’s quite a different situation than identification with the body. The body will continue to have experiences, yet you will not.
Catch yourself. What are you thinking about? It’s those very thoughts that keep you from awakening. Always catch yourself thinking. And ask yourself: To whom do these thoughts come?even if they’re good thoughts. It makes no difference. There’s something within you that knows what to do. There is a power greater than you that knows how to take care of you without your help. All you’ve got to do is to surrender to it. Surrender your thoughts, your mind, your ego, to the current that knows the way. It will take care of you. It will take better care of you than you can ever imagine.
You don’t have to feel that some place there is a real ‘I’. For what you’re doing is you’re making it sound as if there is you and the real ‘I’. There can never be you and the real ‘I’.
There is only the real ‘I’, but because you don’t really understand this fully the practice the Self-Inquiry has been given to you to get rid of the false ‘I’.
The only way you will ever awaken is through silence, not through analyzation of facts. Not by sorting out good and bad, but through simple silence, letting go. Letting go of all thoughts, all the hurts, all the dogmas and concepts. Letting go of these things daily.
The highest path of Jnana is no thinker left to think at all. Nobody is home.
There is a total blank. There is no one around to do any thinking or preparing anything or trying to solve a problem or trying to do anything. At that stage you’re totally free.”
    ~~
    Next Avatar Mehrr Baba:
“Mind wants to know that which is beyond mind. To know that
which is beyond mind, mind must go-vanish, leaving no vestige
of itself behind. The humour of it is, the mind, which is finite,
wants to retain itself and yet know Truth, which is infinite. This is
the position of those who seek Truth through intellect. Few grasp
this fact, and so most grope and grapple in vain”

    Thinking is a process.
Thought is not a process of thinking.
Thought is sound, it is subtle matter.
We can repeat the same thought for one hour. For example MA, MA, MA.
There is no process thinking but only a thought that appears constantly.

atmannityananda ! This makes sense to me. There is a difference between consciously engaging the process of thinking and those thoughts that arise in awareness like sounds in silence. My thoughts appear also as images, not just sounds. A sentence like “What shall we have for dinner tonight” appears in one image. Also, images are always there, so are sounds. It is as if the mind is a subtle world that appears together with perceptions, sensations, feelings etc.

In mathematical logic, sentenses are like relations or functions. Activity is function as well. It helped me to see thoughts, feelings as result of continuous action (function) of awareness. I dont think someone needs to know logic to understand this simple realization but brain should be ready for challenge of abstract thinking and imagination.

  • @atmannityananda-autognosia
    @atmannityananda-autognosia 5 лет назад

It is contrtictory to say that thoughts arise in awareness or are an activity of awareness itself and at the end to say that the dream world is appearing in the mind and is made by the mind, since the dream world is only thoughts and imagination (mental forms).

"The thought of hunger is feeding itself".
Dualistically one meaning is the purpose of thought is to contact the body with a need to feed. The secondary meaning which is never considered is that the thought of hunger has fulfilled its desire of simply experiencing itself arising. Nothing else matters to this thought. Consciousness will automatically transcend this thought into natural experience.
So it Matters not where the thoughts arise form, although Rupert's offering is correct, what matters is the one that has placed attention on the thought as anything else other than the thought. This fake thinker causes suffering through analyses of overthinking of what this thought simply means. The one that wants to experience the thought as an apparent controller of thoughts is a detrimental mind to awareness.
Only thoughts exist as mind. The witness is not mind. Thanks Rupert.

My problem (more or less ALWAYS) is when things like "few of us understand" something like "there is only the knowing of experience," who is the "us?" Who is it which is ignorant, and then enlightened? Awareness, of course, is never either "ignorant" or "enlightened." It just is. Who then realizes this is true?

Absolutely speaking there is only "awareness" (or "consciousness" or "mind"), but "it" is obviously manifesting as an apparently objective universe. So it's not correct to say there's only Awareness, which for Rupert has no objective qualities of any kind.
So the teaching is for one who seems to be suffering, who is identifying as an object, as the landscape rather than the screen to use Rupert's metaphor.
If you don't suffer because you realize there's ONLY Awareness, then you don't need these teachings.

@@gratefulgregg9058 Not criticizing...but that seems like a facile response. My problem is always that, individually, each of the pieces of the advaita puzzle seem to make sense, but when put together, there always seems to be something missing in the logic.

    • @gratefulgregg9058
      @gratefulgregg9058 5 лет назад +1

@@GetMeThere1 If I understand you, I would say what's missing in the logic is the logic. Whether it's advaita or any spiritual/contemplative practice you always run up against the problem of infinite regression. At it's core, as experienced from within Consciousness, experience is absurd in that something appears to have come from nothing. Logic bumps up against what cannot be logically explained. Logic itself is an inference, an abstraction of mind which assumes a object-subject relationship.

Yes, how to become what you already know.
Knowledge of oneself is the key to God Realization. Avatar Meher Baba said it best when he discoursed:
    “The Lover And The Beloved”
"God is love. And love must love.
And to love there must be a Beloved.
But since God is Existence infinite and eternal
there is no one for Him to love but Himself.
And in order to love Himself, He must imagine Himself
as the Beloved whom He as the lover imagines He loves.
    Beloved and lover implies separation.
    And separation creates longing;
    and longing causes search.
And the wider and more intense the search,
    the greater the separation
and the more terrible the longing.
When longing is at its most intense point,
    separation is complete,
    and the purpose of separation,
which was that love might experience itself
as lover and Beloved, is fulfilled; and union follows.
And when union is attained, the lover knows that
he himself was all along the Beloved, whom he loved
    and desired union with;
and that all the impossible situations that he overcame
were obstacles which he himself had placed in the path
    to himself.
To attain union is so impossibly difficult
because it is impossible to become
    what you already are!
Union is nothing other than knowledge
of oneself as the Only One.

I need some clarity on understanding the workings of thought.
IF thought arises out of nothing and also disappears to nothing, what determines the type of thoughts that form and is there anyway to influence the quality of thoughts that flow through your mind, for example, instead of having random thoughts of condemning, judging, worry have more thoughts of appreciation, gratitude and kindness arising ? have those arising more often instead of the negative ones?

Awareness is beyond matter, form, space, time and causation.
Then how can a thought which is subtle matter appear in awareness? Is impossible.
It is like to say that physical objects appear in the mental space which is impossible as well.
Thoughts appear in the mental space, as objects appear in the physical space.
Pure awareness cannot experience nothing except itself because It is not in touch with anything objective.
External Objects and thoughts are perceived by the mind which is endowed by the light of the reflection of awareness on it

Is it randomly manifesting as different things or is there a reason it manifests as it does?

People starts to understand what master is saying ,but it has no value, because one can understand anything intellectually. It is misleading move when master gives explanation up to such level that common people understand what he is saying but still people are not transforming into real essence. The most important work of master does not depend on giving explanation but taking away all explanations. The work of master,is not to give clarity but to give confusion. Because in masters clarity, one starts to believe on what is said and told to him but in confusion one starts to understand that whatever he is holding , is just real mess and confusion. The master is interested into your swimming into real world ,rather he is interested to teach you how to swim. May be initials few kindergarten lessons are ok, than real work.
I do not say that one cannot go to masters and enjoy their talks. They have talent of explaining things with clarity that any one can understand complex things into easy way, but I am emphasizing that there is no need to collect knowledge , any methods when truth appears effortlessly and without using any methods. You will never find any single person who got truth with effort, it only appears when all efforts look meaningless.
Do not take my words that I am criticizing or correcting someone. I am not interested into these meaningless things. I have no complaints whatever you are doing and it is not my concern. Take it just some blow of breeze from unknown person from far part of this earth. Have a good existential journey.
