Thanks you answered my question. I have an R50/5 and it seemed like the charging circuit was bad but as I do lot of shot hops of city driving, looks like that is the cause of my issues. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge.
just got into the front of my engine on a 1980 R100 RS....its not charging. The first thing I noticed were some scorching marks on the grey paint of the diode board with broken traces of exposed copper? Is this like a printed circuit board where copper traces if broken, cause the diode board to malfunction?
If you see burnt traces on the board, that's a pretty good sign the board will not function correctly. These diode boards (Rectifiers) generate a lot of heat when converting AC to DC and the large diodes break down over time. If your diode board is an original from 1980, and it has broken/burnt traces, probably time to replace it. Good Luck!

Thanks , very well done .
Thanks, very helpful!
Thanks for all the info. My r60/6 charge system is failing. This gets me a long way
You are welcome! Good luck!
Thank you! Great vid! :)
Great video, clear explanation. Thanks

where can i buy that special tool to remove rotor?
I can't remember where I bought mine, but euromotoelectrics.com has one ($8). Search for: BOALT-Rotor642Tool
