July 4th La Palma Fitness Fun Run (and walk) 2024

Join me on the La Palma Fitness Fun Run! This is a video of my whole walk, start to finish. And even BabyTruce has her race too! This video it one hour long!
Every year, La Palma, the city I grew up and lived in for more than 30 years, holds a July 4th fun run. My dad has been doing it for years, and this is my first time. They had a 10K Run, 5K Run, 5K Walk, and a Yankee Doodle Fun Run. I did the 5K Walk with my dad. We took it easy since it's my first time. And BabyTruce did the Yankee Doodle run.
The week before the race, my dad and I were planning where to meet and what time. He said "I'm going to try to beat my time, but you can just catch up in the end." I thought it was going to be some "walk and talk" type of stuff, but two minutes in, and my dad was way ahead, and I was playing catch up. I was towards the end of the pack.
These people are in shape, even the walkers. I got passed up by a couple people walking their dog casually. And even a mom pushing her daughter in a wheelchair. We walked in a rectangle, but it had a very small mini detour so the pathway actually looked like a battery. They needed to add the 0.1 miles since a 5K is 3.1miles.
To be honest, it's not that long or hard of a walk, but I did struggle a little. I didn't train, and I have only been really trying to get healthier this year. 2020 was when I stopped, and now I'm back a tit again, so this is a good spark plug for it.
I love doing events like this. I didn't know if I should have done the GoPro, and did periodic updates on the walk. Or if I should do the Insta360 X3 and record the whole thing. I chose the latter. It was fun!
