Edward is my favourite of all the royal family !! my friend had the pleasure of meeting him many years ago when his little daughter was first born.She said that he was so down to earth very easy to talk to.
Edward does come across as the most 'normal' of the four siblings. He came across as a bit bratty in the 80s but since he got married I think he's become a genuinely nice guy. She's probably been a good influence on him. She comes across as the most relatable and 'together' of the wives too.
He took the lesser title of Earl so that he could eventually inherit his fathers title of Duke of Edinburgh thereby ensuring the continuation of that Dukedom

I always felt that Sophie was the woman that has been the making of Edward. He and his siblings were extremely arrogant somehow, before Princess Diana's death. Sophie is very intelligent, classy and above all well balanced.
