I knew I needed books. Great timing that youtube recommended your video! I passed the n4 by relying on online grammar sites, youtube lessons and memorizing and being familiar with kanji and vocabs. I wanted to try for n3 this dec but I don't think I could do it by doing what I did before for n4. Thank you !!!!! will surely check the books

Thanks for the review! So you think Shin Kanzen’s reading and grammer books are enough for N3? (other than vocabulary and listening practices) I want to use Try! too but I am not sure I can handle two grammer books at the same time.

Hi! I have been hearing debate about this serie with Shin Kanzen Master... What's your opinion about it? I've heard a lot of reviews saying that this serie was a bit lacking comparing to the other... But I want to know from someone who has the whole serie
For N3, I only use the Grammar Book from Shin Kanzen Master. It's my top 2 book for grammar, besides the TRY series!
I don't know about the listening, reading, or the vocabulary book tho.
Hello, do I need to buy the N5 and N4 vocabulary books to have all vocabulary necessary for the test or the N3 book has the vocabulary of N5/N4 included to study?
when you buy N3 vocab books you are expected to already know/remember N5/N4 vocabulary

I took and passed N4, but it was ages ago. Is it wise to skip to N3 or go back to N4? (I barely passed N4 too lol hanging by a thread)
If I were you, I would try to take N3. While preparing for N3, you can also review and go back to some of the materials from n4. Maybe get an N3 book or find some materials online and see how you think about it.
Also, considering the price of the test, I don’t think it’s worth it to retake n4 🙂. Good luck!

@@autumntriesthings it really depends on your study style of course! For me, I studied intensively before the test. Maybe around 2-3 months for n3.
I've been studying for N3 using So-Matome for more than 1 year but I can hardly remember all the grammar I learnt. How do you remember all the grammar you learn?😪
I don’t remember all the grammar ofc 😅. But I have a notebook where I wrote grammar points with one example sentence each. I made the example sentences by myself so it was easy to memorize.
This one is better than just memorizing the grammar structure

Does the shinkanzen book has a summary quiz like the minna no nihonggo?
It does have practice problems (multiple choice questions) at the end of each chapter.

@@BlexenAnnSingson oddly enough, mine does have a summary, but it's a summary of my life up until now from an alternate universe. It's amazing how many sandwiches alternate me made.
How long does you use for read these books till to N3 test?
Hmm I don’t remember exactly. But for the TRY! Series grammar book, I think it took me 1-1.5 months to finish 🙂. Hope it helps!

No, I self studied using the books. 🙂
Books that you recommended have explain in English?
Yes! All have explanations in English (some even have extra explanations in Chinese and Vietnamese)

@@stephanieasido2079 ate advicr ko sayo pag grammar the best ang Try! N3 kasi madami examples at may explanation yung grammar. Alam mo naman may mga grammar na mukang hawig kaya need natin explanation which is pag nag search ka pa sa.youtube mas mauunawaan mo lalo. Yang grammsr ng sou matome pinabili ko pa sa japan mismo, sayang kasi walang explanation halos, 3 lng mdalas example kulang na kulang para maunawaan mo tpos konti lang exercises unlike nun talagang matututo ka. Magaganda din excercises parang jlpt per chapter. Yun na lang bhin mo bago ka magsisi din hehehe. Pero yung sou matome na Goi goods yun wag lang yung bunpou (grammar)

@@stephanieasido2079 Ate go with Try! N3 sulit. Di ka mag sisisi. Then Sou matome na jlpt 3 1000 goi. Magset ka every week na magkabisa at least 2 chapters or 3.. same with sou matome Goi.
Sou matome vocab (goi), doukai (reading) and kanji okay yan. Wag lang bunpou (grammar) 🤣 aksaya ng pera. 🤣

Depends on which book! But for Kanji and grammar books, they usually assume that you already know N5-N4 level grammar points and kanji.

I'm looking for a way to pass the JLPT from scratch, I don't need "these are great for prepping for the test if you already have a good understanding of all parts of it to begin with"
I'm looking for a way to do this without having a language school or some kind of class teaching me this stuff already.
This video specifically talks about books for the JLPT N3 level. The books that I mentioned here often exclude materials from the previous levels (N5-N4), which makes sense because if you want to pass N3, you have to at least know Kanji/grammar points that are equivalent to N5-N4.
If you want to pass the JLPT N3 "from scratch", I'd suggest you to take a look at the books from previous levels (N5/N4) or other books such as Genki.
@@ryzary That's not where I was going with this, these are books that prep you for the exam, they don't teach you the material.
This is what I'm finding going through the Kanzen master series for N3 right now.
This is something that I've had problems with for several years, none of the resources out there will actually raise your level except for language schools.
These text books can be helpful but for them to actually help you have to spend something like 40 hours a week working on them or have outside help and that's just not feasible most of the time.
is somatome vocabulary book cover all words in n3 level?
I'm not sure abt it cuz many ppl in my country recommend to look at another book like tango 2000 or speed master standard 2400 to be more ease at dokkai
