Wade was hot headed, but he sure was cute!!! Richard Hatch was a good actor and very handsome. He had a great smile❤️ I loved hearing Grandpa talk about the trees and flowers and plants. So interesting!!
I absolutely loved Richard Hatch! My very favorite and longest lasting teen idol love. I met him in 2013. What a sweetheart! We talked about the other sci-fi shows that I liked but I told him Battlestar was my favorite because of him. The Walton episodes that he was on were my favorites, of course. Thanks for doing a video on him Judy!
Thank you so much Judy for bringing back all these memories of the Walton’s to us. It’s such a wonderful time in many of our lives when we were young and felt as if we were part of the Walton’s family. We are very grateful to to you for giving us these amazing memories. You are an inspiration to us all. ❤
Lovely episode recap Judy! Takes me once again back to my childhood and watching the Waltons as a family with my parents and siblings....I am going to be so sad when you've gone through all of them. I never want this to end. Like you once said..maybe you'll have to go through them all again. 🥰🥰🥰
Grandpa Walton was the sweetest old man. We don’t take advantage of their insight when we can it seems. When they pass we are like I so wish I could ask them about something or talk to them. It’s that way with me anyway.
I have definitely been guilty of this in my lifetime. What I would give now to be able to sit once again with my Grandma and share a beautiful conversation, and ask all those questions I have!
Yes. My dad is 87, still makes beautiful swings (used to be a home builder, when they used a regular hammer) and since my mom passed ten years ago, our relationship has gotten so much stronger. I'm learning so much about him and it's neat.
Keith Gaines you’re not alone in that. So many questions l have for all my family elders l wish l had asked but wasn’t old enough to realize that at the time. I miss them all so very much!!!
"Sometimes people's lives would become entwined with ours for a brief time and then, because of change or growth or the passage of time, their lives would take different paths and we would never see or hear of them again. But there were occasions when people we had known in the past would reappear. I remember one such occasion, and it took us completely by surprise."
A rare occassion when we see John Walton get angry and physical with it but thankfully it worked and got Wade thinking about his future. This episode was also highlighting how a good loving relationship could stray from the path of happiness but return back with a little effort on both sides. Thank you Judy for today's segment and as always, best wishes to you from your waltonian superfan all the way from a mild England😉
Another good episode where someone comes to visit the mountain because things are broken or going wrong in their lives and somehow John is able to help fix what's wrong. Always seems to be a safe haven to visit the Walton's.
I think it’s great that Vera and Wade reconciled! We need more of that today so that our society has stronger families. It really makes a difference when a married couple can work it’s problems out. Great dialogue Judy!
Judy you look wonderful. Love the scarf and the color on you. This was a wonderful episode . Thanks for showing Richard Hatch . He was so good playing Wade.Lindsey was wonderful as Vera. Great acting from everyone . Thanks Judy and looking forward to your guest. 💕
I always liked the characters from this other branch of the Walton family tree. They had a very strong need to stay true to their roots it seemed to me and it put them in conflict at times with the world around them. Still what was lovely was the sense of support and strength from the other branches of the family in times of need!
So good to hear these commentaries coming from you. It infuses each episode with a fresh perspective, which in turn gives us the viewers a enhanced experience. Your RUclips channel will certainly add to your legacy , and the Waltons experience. As always such a pleasure to see you here. ; )
Ah, yes! Those "syrupy sweet Walton's where no one ever argues or had family problems!" 😊 I love how Ralph acted the lines wherein he'd have to thrash Wade all the way to Rockfish! That Cousin Boon is a real troublemaker! Thanks for another great BTS, Judy. I thought that was moonlight on the house! I've seen nights with light from the moon almost like daylight! Poor, Ben! I thought he had a good business idea! Looking forward to the upcoming videos you mentioned! Have a wonderful week! 🧡💐✨🌲⛰️🌲⛰️🌲✨
Thanks so much. I think when we are enjoying something we overlook flaws and are only distracted by them when we aren’t fully drawn into the story and characters.
Judy I love this episode and was glad the characters of vera and wade returned. Richard hatch was really good. One time he played a psychotic kidnapper killer in the cop show tj hooker and the girl he kidnapped was played by Cindy fisher who played Ben's girl on the Waltons episode the lie. Sad that so many of my favorite stars have passed away. Thanks for another behind the scenes I enjoyed it. I wanted to tell you I found earl hamners book the avacado drive zoo on ebay for $5 it came in mint condition and it's really good it's all real stories about pets and wild animals his wife and kids have cared for over the years it's funny
As a fan of Mr Hamner’s gifts, thanks for sharing this description. It’s so nice to know of those qualities in him, his wife and his life, too! I firmly believe humans won’t solve the challenges of being respectful & kind to each other without also honoring & caring for the needs of all animals. I love reading here that Mr Hamner & family did not exclude one for the other. Compassion-forward
It seemed that Wade wasn’t ready to listen so John added a little extra to that “wake up call”. But also knew Wade was strong enough to handle a little rough-housing.
Great episode! Richard Hatch was always a fantastic actor in everything he did. I think that was one of the very few times John ever laid hands on anyone during the show. I remember one other time when he went out of town to work and John and John Boy got into a scuffle with someone. Thanks again.
John also came down on Ben in The Lie, when Ben got arrogant while trying to cover for Nancy. Then when he reads the Riot Act to Jim Bob (who mouthed off at Corabeth Godsey) in The Tailspin
I loved Ben’s schemes, he was always going to be impulsive, take risks and be an entrepreneur. 😊 I think this episode showed how wonderful it is to have wider family to turn to in a crisis. A safe space when you can get support and even though John was annoyed with Wade that support was still there. ❤ sad to hear that the actor playing has passed away.
I just loved the character of Ben. He always had something up his sleeve. He was adventurous! I too, noticed the night time scenes were kinda wonky. It seems it was that way in many of the older shows until technology got better. A great episode. Thanks so much. Mary

I got trained in electrical engineering so life sciences were not my expertise but what a fun day it would be to share knowledge like that with such an endearing human being. I also was a fan of Richard Hatch. That was Ronald D. Moore, a writer of the show on the podcast that talked about it.
I like what you're wearing today !! Thanks for giving us backgrounds on all Walton's episodes!! I wish these shows were on antenna tv more often than just once a day!!
Thanks, again, Judy. Your videos are always uplifting, fun & soothing. In tribute to Will Geer, maybe all who can may try to see & smell a frequent mention of Mr Geer’s, Trailing Arbutus. The range is extensive in the east half of the US & Canadian woodlands. It appears Avon made a cologne of the scent in ‘79. Might this be Will-inspired?! The timing would be right. It’s dubbed a “great granny scent”, subtle, with powdery notes of rose, jasmine or iris. I’ve long wondered if it was a favorite plant & scent of Mr. Geer’s. I love the story I’ve heard in Richard Thomas interviews of how Will Geer often casually tossed seeds from his overalls as he’d stand outdoors chatting with people. Fun, uplifting, soothing!
Happy Monday Judy you as always looking lovely! I also have to say I loved your interview with Ross Owen. I so enjoyed seeing these two characters as well and finding out what happened to them and also hoping to see them again. I felt sorry for poor Ben and his failed business and wondered why he never went to Grandpa with questions, but Ben always wanted to do things on his own. Question: Who was the sweet baby they had for baby Floyd he was such a beautiful little boy, and I loved how he just looked up at his father as he sat down at the table. Thank you for another great episode!! Kathy 🥰
Glad you enjoyed this. Thanks for watching my interview with Ross Owen. The baby was not credited anywhere so I don’t know who it was. Likely twins as that was often the case with infants we used.
I think it's great when an actor can incorporate their personal interests into their characters, such as Will was able to do many times with his horticultural interests.
The producers did a lot of incorporating aspects of the real actors - Will with his horticulture knowledge, Jon Walmsley and his musical talents, me with sports, horses etc…
Good video. I was really sad when I saw that Richard Hatch died so young.. He was great on the original Battlestar Galactica as Apollo and the remake of Battlestar Galactica, even though I didn't like his character as a politician....Lots of great actors and actresses have passed in the last few years..
I honestly don't know of any other show on TV that was so much a part of my childhood with my siblings and parents that we all watched every Thursday night @ 8:00 that was weaved into the fabric of our lives. It was so enjoyable for all of us. We didn't miss it! Such good lessons each episode. I remember years later after I was an adult and found out that Elizabeth (Kami) and I are the same age! That surprised me so much because I always felt I was older than her as I watched it! Thanks for sharing these behind the scenes with us, Judy!
A total misunderstanding turning into a Happily ever after.with Wade, Vera and Floyd. And poor Ben, every venture he gets into turns out to be sour. Love the episode ❤️
Vera sounds like my mother. My older sister told me that dad wanted her to buy nice clothes because his building business was doing well and they could afford it. Because mom was buying clothes for herself and for me at thrift stores, and cheaper stores like Kmart.
Richard hatch who played Wade was gorgeous! I remember him on battlestar Galactic. Another one of my favorite shows!oh. Judy, how could you concentrate with him on set? 🤭😊
Judy, have you considered interviewing Lindsay V Jones? She is the last surviving one of Martha Corrine’s family. I can imagine the two of you could talk about Richard Hatch, as well as working with Beulah Bondi and Morgan Woodward, who died in 1981 and 2019, respectively
I love this episode, you very rarely see John Waltons get mad enough to use physical force, but when you threaten to destroy daddy John's property he will lay you out, but then turns around and welcomes you to join the family at the dinner table...very cool.
Vera was a very believable character. On a side note, I just read Confessions of a Prairie Bitch. Great book. Wow the difference in these shows and people. The Waltons..... definitely were closer and it always come through on camera.
I loved it when John put Wade in his place !! Grandpa calming the situation down and they gave him a choice, be more responsible and look after your family or he would’ve gotten a beat down by John !! Grandpa is what most people wished for in a grandparent, John was real protective of those he cared about, I loved how he was protecting Vera and Lloyd, he was like “You need to calm down or I’ll make you calm down !!” 😊😊🙏🏾🙏🏾
Hi Judy! I loved this video ❤ thank you for sharing all these wonderful memories :) I love this episode! And omg I can’t wait to see who the special guests are going to be and how soon that will be ahh I’m so excited- and I hope you have a wonderful day :) Love, Jamie ~ huge Waltons fan ✨
Hi, Judy! I just recently rewatched Richard Hatch in "Addie and the King of Hearts," a Valentine's Day made-for-TV film from 1976. It stars Jason Robards, Mildred Natwick (love her!) and Lisa Lucas, the same actors/characters from 1972's Emmy-winning "The House Without a Christmas Tree." In the Valentine's special, Richard played a charming substitute teacher on whom Addie Mills develops a crush. The Mills family also appeared in TV-movies with Thanksgiving and Easter themes. Have you ever seen any of these films? They're wonderful (and on DVD), especially the Christmas one.
The House Without a Christmas Tree is one of my favorite TV Christmas stories. Thanks for mentioning others in the series. I'll look for them. Robards was wonderful.
@@judynorton2598 Gail Rock is the author of the children's novel ~ The House w/o a Christmas Tree. She won a Christopher Award for her book. I think Mr Hamner, too, won a Christopher Award for The Homecoming! You can see The House w/o a Christmas Tree on YT. It's a very touching story and has filming effects that make it feel like a Playhouse 90 presentation. ❤️💚🎄
And this episode also featured character actor Burton Gilliam as J.D. Paulson, Wade’s boss at the furniture factory. He’s probably best known for his film work, notably Lyle from “Blazing Saddles” and Floyd the hotel clerk from “Paper Moon”.
Thanks for doing these. It’s been interesting hearing all your behind the scenes anecdotes and memories of the show. Plus it’s neat remembering the actors who guest starred that I remember from the stuff I know them from. In this case Richard Hatch as both Apollo from the original BSG, and Tom Zarek from the new, well, _newer_ BSG. Plus some of his other roles that you mentioned that I had no clue about. So thank you. It’s appreciated. 😊
Wondering if some of your special guests could be Robert Woods(Dr. David Spenser, Dennis Redfield (Mike Paxton),Kathleen Quinlan (Selena Linville)? Thanks for all your work on the channel.
How wonderful is it that you do these videos Judy !!I watched the Waltons back in the early seventies .The Homecoming was a beautiful movie and i have seen it several times. Our family used to say goodnite to each other like you guys did in the series ! Thanks Judy for these videos !
back in those days, he could have been both. Years ago, I was engaged to my sister-in-laws niece, and if we would have married, my brother would have also been my uncle and I would have been his nephew -- so I would have been his brother and nephew at the same time. Talk about confusion at family reunions.
Richard Hatch is one of my favorite actors. This episode makes me wonder about all the relationships that didn’t work out. How many ended because the place they were living just didn’t click with them and the discomfort contributed to the breakup? One of the things that this episode doesn’t really show is that “city life” atmosphere in order to make the contrast between life in the woods and life in a busy city. We’re just told city life is difficult, but seeing Wade actually walking around going into bars and being flirty with escorts, would’ve showed us how city life was changing him but not for the better. I’m surprised Ben didn’t already know that certain trees can only grow in certain areas. You can’t plant a seedling in the desert and grow a pine tree. He’s lived on the mountain long enough to know that, and grandpa certainly would’ve said lots about it since he had such a green thumb. I learned a lot about gardening from my mother just watching her and sometimes helping out. She wasn’t teaching me, she just needed my help laying soil down and planting seeds. After a while things started to make sense and I’d start asking her questions. But I guess they needed to make a story about Ben doing something dumb again, lol.
Hi Judy, thank you so much for breaking down episodes of the best show ever made! Can you tell me where I might find information about you and your cast mates appearances back in Schuyler Virginia, or anywhere else this summer?
I just watched this 30 minutes ago . Vera was such an interesting character . Very much what everyone’s idea of a country mountain lady is l It was just like the Walton’s to help solve a problem . Hope you are well judy xox
Richard Hatch was a wonderful actor. I remember him from All My Children when he was paired with Karen Lynn Gormey lst young popular soap couple in the 1970's.
This was such a dramatic episode Judy. I always felt sad about their Cousins having had to leave the Mountain for a modern contemporary life. Those were dramatic times too! I think people aren’t resilient though as such the characters all finally adjusted to their new lives. Thanks Judy for a great look back at The Estrangement!
Judy, you're right.I kind of remember either an earlier episode or later that implied the Walton's house was a heritage house of the family. Then there was an episode where Grandpa got really angry at an Indian who came back to the land of his ancestors to be buried, and the barn was built on an Indian burial ground.
Wade was hot headed, but he sure was cute!!! Richard Hatch was a good actor and very handsome. He had a great smile❤️ I loved hearing Grandpa talk about the trees and flowers and plants. So interesting!!

I would have loved to have known Will Geer. He seemed to be a really interesting and cool fellow!
He marched to his own drum.
Thanks for sharing. Love Grandpa and John. Always teaching the younger ones about the mountain and how to live a good life
So great how much of Will’s real knowledge was incorporated

John’s version of a “wake up call”. :)

Ben did try a lot of ventures before finding success with the mill.
Another great episode. Thank you Judy!
My pleasure.

Ikes store was also like a post office. It's hard to own 2 businesses in the same building back and forth.
Vera sounds like my mother. My older sister told me that dad wanted her to buy nice clothes because his building business was doing well and they could afford it. Because mom was buying clothes for herself and for me at thrift stores, and cheaper stores like Kmart.
Interesting people’s various reactions to money.
Another great episode, awesome👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it
Richard hatch who played Wade was gorgeous! I remember him on battlestar Galactic. Another one of my favorite shows!oh. Judy, how could you concentrate with him on set? 🤭😊
lol - Richard Hatch really was gorgeous and super nice as well.
Just love your indepth detail ,ty again for giving your time to bless us this way. BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOURS
My pleasure.
Thank you, Judy once again for your insight & commentary. ❤
My pleasure.
Interesting idea.
I love this episode, you very rarely see John Waltons get mad enough to use physical force, but when you threaten to destroy daddy John's property he will lay you out, but then turns around and welcomes you to join the family at the dinner table...very cool.
He wasn’t one to hold a grudge.
Vera was a very believable character. On a side note, I just read Confessions of a Prairie Bitch. Great book. Wow the difference in these shows and people. The Waltons..... definitely were closer and it always come through on camera.
We were so fortunate in how closely we all bonded.
another great segment judy I remember this one thanks once again
Thanks for watching ;)
Always enjoy watching
I loved it when John put Wade in his place !! Grandpa calming the situation down and they gave him a choice, be more responsible and look after your family or he would’ve gotten a beat down by John !! Grandpa is what most people wished for in a grandparent, John was real protective of those he cared about, I loved how he was protecting Vera and Lloyd, he was like “You need to calm down or I’ll make you calm down !!” 😊😊🙏🏾🙏🏾
I love how he didn’t let Wade get away with his bad behavior and being irresponsible.
Thanks, I just saw this episode the other night!
Great timing!
Hi Judy! I loved this video ❤ thank you for sharing all these wonderful memories :) I love this episode! And omg I can’t wait to see who the special guests are going to be and how soon that will be ahh I’m so excited- and I hope you have a wonderful day :)
Love,
Jamie ~ huge Waltons fan ✨
So glad you enjoyed this. Big surprise tomorrow :)
I’m not familiar with those movies. They sound very sweet.
@@judynorton2598 I think you would love them. They all take place in a small town in Nebraska in the late '40s.
And this episode also featured character actor Burton Gilliam as J.D. Paulson, Wade’s boss at the furniture factory. He’s probably best known for his film work, notably Lyle from “Blazing Saddles” and Floyd the hotel clerk from “Paper Moon”.
Thanks for sharing the extra info for everyone.
Thank 😊 for telling us fun facts ps Judy yous always been My favorite on waltons
Glad you enjoyed it.
I loved Richard Hatch :)
Its always hard for people to live in the city because their scared and it's not safe to much a lot of times
Dealing with something so unfamiliar was certainly a challenge for Vera.
So glad you are enjoying these.
Wade and Ashley were two of the best-looking men ever put on this planet.
I hear you :)
Wondering if some of your special guests could be Robert Woods(Dr. David Spenser, Dennis Redfield (Mike Paxton),Kathleen Quinlan (Selena Linville)? Thanks for all your work on the channel.
Glad you’re enjoying these. Special guest tomorrow :)
May Wade rest in peace. Thanks for sharing, Judy.

Another great episode, this one demonstrating the importance of honesty and family.

Wil really loved the woods.
He sure did.
How wonderful is it that you do these videos Judy !!I watched the Waltons back in the early seventies .The Homecoming was a beautiful movie and i have seen it several times. Our family used to say goodnite to each other like you guys did in the series ! Thanks Judy for these videos !
I love that.
This is the episode where John inconsistently refers to Wade as Boone’s nephew instead of his grandson.
back in those days, he could have been both. Years ago, I was engaged to my sister-in-laws niece, and if we would have married, my brother would have also been my uncle and I would have been his nephew -- so I would have been his brother and nephew at the same time. Talk about confusion at family reunions.
@@rhuephus OK. Except that’s not the situation based on the story line in the Waltons.
lol - the writers were probably as confused as the rest of us ;)
Richard Hatch is one of my favorite actors.
I think your take on it is all spot on :)
Thanks for sharing Behind the scene of The Walton's
My pleasure.
Hi Judy, thank you so much for breaking down episodes of the best show ever made! Can you tell me where I might find information about you and your cast mates appearances back in Schuyler Virginia, or anywhere else this summer?
We will post on social media - check out everyone’s public pages on Facebook - that’s typically where updates are posted.
I just watched this 30 minutes ago . Vera was such an interesting character . Very much what everyone’s idea of a country mountain lady is l It was just like the Walton’s to help solve a problem . Hope you are well judy xox
So glad you enjoyed it.
It does take a bittersweet look at progress and it’s effect on the little people that so often get steamrolled along the way.
@@judynorton2598 oops it auto corrected-“…are resilient…”
Judy, you're right.I kind of remember either an earlier episode or later that implied the Walton's house was a heritage house of the family. Then there was an episode where Grandpa got really angry at an Indian who came back to the land of his ancestors to be buried, and the barn was built on an Indian burial ground.
Seems to have been in the family for some time.
Another good video. 👍
Richard Hatch was one of my crushes growing up. If I had been on the set, I would have stared at him constantly...lol
He was very “easy on the eyes” ;)
