Guys like him are why cops don't trust people that actually don't know some of the more minor things and make small mistakes.
You're probably right, but in Arizona you enter the car pool lane whenever and wherever you want. The fist time I drove in CA I was completely surprised to find that the carpool lanes are totally different. I'm sure there's a reason for it, but it seemed more dangerous to me; one more thing to pay attention to when I was concentrating on avoiding the cars pulling in front of me if I dared to leave a couple car lengths between me and the vehicle in front.
To be fair I went to 2 different riders courses and they said you could. This was a first I've seen. I've never split with hazards on because I think it's kinda goofy, but I specifically remember these instructors telling us we could split with hazards. Glad I never did it lol.
@@GoToPhx California has two types of carpool lanes. In Northern California, you have part-time carpool lanes (usually just for weekday rush hour). These are part of the normal traffic lanes because regular traffic can go in these lanes outside of the specific carpool times. Traffic can enter and exit the carpool lanes anywhere. Motorcycles in NorCal can split between these part-time carpool lanes and the regular lanes next to them. In Southern California, you have full-time (permanent) carpool lanes. These are separated from regular traffic by physical barriers or (like in this video) by double yellow or double white lines between the carpool lane and the regular traffic lanes. Motorcycles in SoCal cannot split between the permanent carpool lanes and the regular lanes next to them because of the double lines. The difference between the two systems is just due to the volume of traffic.
@@wlogan2000 Interesting. Where I was driving there were Zero signs explaining this and the lines weren't yellow. I've been driving for a lot of years and had NEVER come across double white lines, and had zero reference as to what they were. IMO California has some wacky laws, and No, I'm not going to read through all the CA driving laws before driving there! I just hope I don't have to go to CA anytime soon.
@@GoToPhx Double white lines are sort-of-new (maybe early-2010s?). There was a change to the federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices that standardized white (traffic in same direction) and yellow (traffic in opposite direction) lane markings. So before, CalTrans could use double-yellow lines to separate regular traffic from (permanent) HOV and Express Lanes; but now they have to use double-white, because those lanes are going in the same direction as regular traffic. CalTrans is slowly switching the old colors to the new colors, but they seem to be doing it on their normal repainting schedule, not specially. I just checked and the 2023 Arizona driver license manual mentions double-white lines (page 36), so you may well see them there at some point.
Yeah 100%. The way the cop was trying to lead him in the right direction was so funny “if you wouldn’t do it in a car… why is *this* any different” Dummy kept trying to defend himself instead of just being like “yeah… I know man, that’s my bad.
