    This is so awesome took me back to my childhood. When I was in 2nd grade we raised our own butterfly! Each student got a little container and a caterpillar we fed it and watched it build its cocoon! when it became a butterfly we walked to a near park and set them free!

  • @MissRoss82
    @MissRoss82 9 лет назад +2

    I raise monarchs too! We have a big problem with flies that lay eggs on the caterpillars and parasite them and so I harvest the eggs and bring them inside to increase their chances of survival. I can't believe how many you have in your garden. how gorgeous!

    I literally just finished reading (about 10 secs ago) an article that stated the Monarch Butterfly population had decreased by 80% thanks to pesticides found in weed killers like round-up. These herbicides are responsible for wiping out milkweed. It was so incredibly beautiful to see you raising them. When I saw you seed saving I clicked subscribe immediately. Thanks for this awesome video :) made my day.

    The big cats will eat cantaloupe. “Eclose” is what they call them coming out of the chrysalis. And the plural is “chrysalides”. Weird, huh? They eat EVERY BIT OF MILKWEED! And lizards will eat the cats and the butterflies! Wasps, too, will carry the cats to their nest! Awesome!
