Touring the NSW outback in my 2.8L Hilux Rugged X dual cab ute for 7 days. This was a few days after the massive flooding in the western NSW region causing the dirt roads to become extra muddy and sticky. This extended my trip from Sydney to Tibooburra to 17 hours (plus quick stops) as I was bogged a couple of times in the Cut Line and had to walk through a few water crossings at night. I managed to pull myself out using a shovel to dig myself out, a couple of Maxtrax recovery tracks on my rear tyres, and a few branches on my front tyres. I was also lucky enough that the South Australian border has opened up to New South Wales the day before I left, which expanded my itinerary.
Overall, the trip was exhilarating and fulfilling. I met a few like-minded people along the way and saw the most breathtaking sceneries and landscapes that I have ever laid my eyes on. I really enjoyed the trip especially Tibooburra, Mundi Mundi Plains, and Mungo National Park. Australia is such a magnificent place and I have only just begun on my expedition to conquer the four corners of this great country.
