      Oh wow. I am loving that Sidechain button trick to see which shared frequencies need to be ducked with Pro Q. Thank you so much Will. THAT one, definitely!!!!

      I don't work much with vocals, but I think these techniques could work on other tracks too. I never knew about that Pro-Q frequency overlapping trick.

    I heard a huge difference from the 2 mixes in the intro, the 2nd sounded like it had a lot more depth and width.
    I've been producing for several months now, and releasing my music since september 2023, and I know I have so much to learn, but this video was very helpful! I also use ableton live, and have been using the stock EQ eight, do you recommend using third party EQ instead?

    Thanks, that was very interesting. As a minor remark, I found that your voice is much louder than the examples you've shown so it was sometimes hard to hear. So maybe mix your voice a bit quieter. Also, creating a bit more "space", i.e., some more pauses between you talking and the examples could also help with focusing on the material.

      Thank you for the feedback! I think the best way to let the information sink in is by pausing the video and trying out the tips directly in your DAW anyway. Some people would like a less fast paced video and others want a fast paced one. No matter what I do, I can never hit the sweet spot for all. haha

    • @shanonkiyoshi4784
      @shanonkiyoshi4784 10 месяцев назад +1

      Dynamic EQs are far more surgical than Multi-Band Compressors because you can target specific frequencies + you can adjust the Q which most -- if any -- Multi-Band Compressors CAN NOT do 😎👍🎛

    I have a burning question regarding these core elements Will. Supposing I take a track from the 80's I wanted to mix. They already have kick, Bass and Vocals, but now I wish to add other elements such as another kick, bass and synths. What takes prominence, because I can NEVER get it right?
    I appreciate any help you can offer Will!

      @@EDMTips Thanks for getting back to me Will. I have the original 80's tracks I wish to mix. From then on it's adding a drum machine, samples, synths and instruments. No actual stems.

    • @EDMTips
      @EDMTips  10 месяцев назад +1

      My pleasure to help! But with the full song only it's tricky. You would need stems. Nowadays, AI tools can help you splitting the track into stems but the result is not perfect. Secondly, only do a remix this way as a personal exercise and not for publishing unless you have the official permission or the track is not under copyright (anymore) - just saying! :)

      @@EDMTips I appreciate the advice Will. It's really only as a hobby to play in the car, and I will post on You Tube too. I don't monetise anything, so they are pretty lenient with me. I will certainly take a look at going down the stems route too. Thanks again.
