    Everyone bashing wrestling is obviously someone who has never wrestled before. Keep on going. You'll never know what it really means to leave it all on the mat.

      +Jose Morales I once thought wrestling was gay and easy until i tried it and learned that it's the hardest sport and we don't cuddle with each other but fight. this is my first year and my record is 0-5. i'm getting better in neutral but i'm terrible on the ground. i just wish i wrestled before my freshman year of high school.

    • @emobuddha

      +Demon I didn't start wrestling until I was a Junior in high school. So I know your pain just get more mat time in and you'll get better. I transitioned into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu now and the wrestling experience has helped a lot

    I'm almost 29. I wrestled back in 8th grade. Then in high school I only wrestled my 9th and 10th grade year. Wrestling is a very long and strenuous season. You really do give up a lot during wrestling season. At my high school Practice started at 2:30 after school and went till 6:30-7 every night. We were wrestling 6 days a week wether it be practice, meets or tournaments on Saturdays. If we didn't have a tournament on a Saturday we would have to be at practice. So Sunday was our only day off. Practices and conditioning for this sport is extremely physically demanding. At the time I thought I was making the right decision by not continuing to wrestle. But looking back at it after all these years, I do highly regret quitting.

    Shoutout to all the High School Wrestlers that wrestled all 4 years and didn't quit. Tore my meniscus, broke my wrist, fractured my foot, tore my labrum. Wrestled on a fractured foot and torn meniscus... still won matches. It's been 3 years since high school and i still have pain from all those injuries... I don't regret not a single one because i never quit

      I'm going in as a senior captain next year, junior year was my first varsity year and almost made me quit on 2 different occasions, but I'm so glad I stayed. I've broken my rib 3 times and my neck is sore and strained permanently but wrestling is worth the pain.

      akrLaB19s you’ll always have pain from them. My last year of competition was college 2000. I’m 39 and my knees feel like 139. Grounding helps. Literally walk bear foot on the ground and the pain stops almost immediately.

    Wrestling is the realist sport. Wrestling makes you stand up for yourself. Shows the real you when the presser is on. I think wrestling is a team sport.

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA 8 лет назад

      School wrestling may have teams, but it is individuals at different weight classes. I never liked team sports All I ever saw was a dictator coach and a bunch of workers jumping up and down. Wrestling in school was the closest thing to a sport based on the individual (like our nations was based on) that the school offered during the school semesters, (and cross country running). But in the summer time, it was just me and a few friends sharing a ride to a freestyle tournament, and there was no team there. There was freedom.
      Now I know guys who won 3 HS state championships, and there was no story about them. Not to bag on this young man, I am sure he is a fine young man, but this is HS, and he is just starting out in life. If we set the bar of man's achievement much lower, we might see a "road to potty training" in the near future.
      Sorry. Everybody thinks they are great today, when in fact, talent, (in almost everything), is in decline. The chances of a person becoming great is better though---if they had wrestled. It helps make you a strong individual, and you can't be great if your not a strong individual--who thinks with reason on their own.
      See---a "team" does not allow you to to "think" outside of the "duty" position you play. That is a why I like sports that are based on the individual. The UFC has to be the best sport in the world for the individual, The things a individual can think of to win is pretty darn close to unlimited, and you have to think to make it happen. That makes a man, (or woman), great.
      I guess I can say it this way:
      With a team sport, you follow.
      With a sport based on the individual, you lead.
      Which do great people come from,---really?

    • @johnnycincinnati8749
      @johnnycincinnati8749 7 лет назад

      yeah. when the presser is on wrestling can definitely give you a huge advantage. Unfortunately wrestling doesn't give people the knowledge and skill it takes to spell pesky/troublesome words like PRESSURE*** lol.

      I got 1 2 3 4 5 dumbassess in this comments
      After you act like kind by Complementing wrestling doesn't mean you have to act like a kid who was just born 1 second ago
      Wrestling isn't a team sport
      Do you see more than 2 people on a mat? Do you see 2 more people on the mat?
      No bitch because in wrestling you have to fight a person that is in the same weight as you are in, therefore only 2 people should be on the mat
      Don't act all *Preachy* type of fucking person who thinks he knows everything
      In wrestling you travel with you team to a different place where all the members fight another members *1 on 1* dumb bitch

    I see these comments that some of you are saying their fathers makes them wrestle or starve them. My son is 7yrs old. This is his third season wrestling, we just started this season practice about a month ago. I don't starve him,where ever he is at comes that Monday or Tuesday practice that is where he is wrestling at on that weekend. Until this year he said dad i want to wrestle at 55lbs. He weighs around 55lbs-57lbs. i don't make him do anything, he does that on his own. Wrestling is a tough sport i don't care what anyone says about it or disagree with me on it.

    I wrestle and box, both of these sports are fucking amazing, coming from a native American reservation, they helped me escape the things I had to go through, going into the dog pound ( the ring) and stepping on the mat, are the greatest feelings I've ever felt, knowing all the sacrifice you have to do in boxing and wrestling, there the same thing, just different ha

    2:36 "All of the pressure is on you to win." This is what I always loved about the sport. You win, you can feel proud of yourself. You lose, you got no one to blame but yourself. The only one you have to worry about is yourself in the hopes that you can give your team some points.

    Truly the greatest sport. Life lessons that carry on forever.
    My son wrestled from 6 years old throughout high school. Currently attending university and an ROTC member at that school. His throughput and commitment are a direct reflection of the discipline and desire it took to wrestle for 12 years although he did not continue wrestling in college it has made him the young man that he is today.
    All the coaches that have played a role in his journey I’ll never be able to thank them enough for the work they put in with him both in wrestling teachings and life teachings.

    Keys to cutting weight
    1.) Start to cut early and depending on how far from ur weight class u are will determine when u start,
    2.) Workout 2-3 times a day and drink water while cutting, and eat smaller meals and weigh what u eat, u need energy in order to be able to cut weight, u cant be out of energy and work out that doesn't make sense
    3.) This is what i do its optional. U wanna lose at least 2-3 extra pounds so when u eat and drink u will be where u need to be keep in mind u lose a pound while u sleep at night
    4.) Stay mentally strong and dont cut all the weight at once, if u do ur just cutting to get ur ass kicked so make good food choices and if u know weigh ins are close dont ask for bags of doritos cheetos and brisks and sprite, its ok to snack but while cutting leave it alone, u can eat that junk after u weigh in but i recommend after ur tournament or meet cuz eating junk then wrestling=poor performance
    5.) Be confident in urself remain strong always have a good mindset.when u say ur gonna win or if ur gonna lose. Thats what will happen on the mat
    M.T.X.E
    MENTAL.TOUGHNESS.XTRA.
    EFFORT

      Yep, I went into senior year at 185 pounds from football being 170 the year before. I needed to really grind it down to 175 so I could sweat my 5 pounds off on Thursday's practice to get to 170. Then eat but drink little thus making weight easily. But I lifted weighs all season and that kept me from getting lower than 173, but I was able to do this tweek and make weight.

    injuries in this sport are bad.
    The worst injury I've had was at a wrestling camp one summer about 13 years ago.
    I was in some sort of hold when all of a sudden I felt a sensation in my right shoulder like it went to sleep suddenly. (Kind of like a tearing/ripping) feeling. If that makes sense. Haha
    It was a weekend long camp. But after that I was done because I couldn't lift my arm.

    To the people commenting that the wrestling dads push their kids because they sucked in high-school, I can't speak for every dad, but my dad never even wrestled at all. I love wrestling and my parents have given up a ton so i can continue my quest. This summer I am going to a month and a half of camps to get better, and I know its expensive. These camps are my birthday and Christmas presents and I also work when im not wrestling to make sure i can keep wrestling. I guess if u know u know, if you don't like wrestling thats cool, but we do. I know 1 kid on my team wrestles because his dad wants him to, but a lot of us wrestle because we love it.

    Any Colorado wrestlers watching this? I'm a freshman and I started this year at 106, I'm currently 3-5 on the season and my record doesn't show it but I'm a fantastic wrestler. My brother was a two time state qualifier and I want to be a 4 time qualifier and I want to place once and win state once. That's my career goal. My coaches have told multiple people that they believe I can't reach those goals. I am a 106 freshman but I am one of the hardest workers in that room, I give much of my time to wrestling. I've been in the sport for 5 years but I just barely started it for myself this year. I attend Mullen high school, let me know you guys are from Colorado!

      he's saying more that if he doesn't perform on the mat, there isn't anyone to blame but himself. In any other team sport, blame could always be put on someone else

    • @tereushenry4
      @tereushenry4 8 лет назад +8

      He means its like both but more an individual sport. Because practice you need your team there to help practice with and go live, but on the mat it all you using what you know to get that win

      +Saiyan Elm wrestling is an individual sport first, team sport second. through hard work and personal goals, you inspire and lead you fellow wrestlers. other than that, its ALL on you.

I came in on Monday at 145 and made 119 by Thursday for the dual and again sat for the tournament.. and I tore my acl in the state semis and WON in the finals against a three time finalist.. Nice story with your dad but I started at age 12 without a dad and walked across town while my single mother worked two jobs..

I’ve had a hip pointer, which is a bruise, and wasn’t able to compete at all so it can’t really be compared. Once the shoulder is popped back in, it’s not severely painful anymore just like when the knee pops back in.

    This is a good documentary I've wrestled from 5 to my senior year. I won every big tournament known. I was all freestyle USA all american won states Ohio tournament of champions and many more national tournaments. My dad sent me up to Pennsylvania every year in the summer for months, Rob Wallers All American Wrestling camp/club. I've wrestled for Waller. Pennsylvania is the power house and best state IN wrestling. Then you got Ohio New Jersey Illinois and iowa. Thats who i grew up wrestling, and i beat some of the best kids out of PA,IL,NJ,OH. I'm not knocking this kid but when he hurt his shoulder and defaulted out, come on bud you got to be tougher than that. I hate to say it I'd hate to watch this kid wrestle someone from Pennsylvania or Jersey, or even Ohio. I wish the best of luck to the kid but his shoulder wasnt that bad where he couldnt have finished that match. If he wants to get any better he needs to go up north to Pennsylvania, because winning a state championship in North Carolina is like winning a JV tournament in Pennsylvania

      Mentoring my son, I made sure he hit the gym. I was telling him, do not expect to get big, you need to get the motions down and build up bone density and tendon strength. He sorta understands, but it is critical and takes 6-9 months to get tendons and ligaments to strengthen. Muscles can pump quickly but the months at the gym and long term effort makes you injury resistant.

      nah man, this kid is mentally weak, that's why he was crying. most people that are at that level have a strong mind and I don't think this kid is strong minded, that's why he's crying. to be a state champ you gotta have confidence and you gotta grow a sack and put some fucking balls in that sack and just do it. tell yourself you're gonna be state champ and you'll do it. once you're committed, THEN you become dedicated in your work ethic and your ability to wrestle in a match with confidence.

      +Donovan James you do realize he went 41-1 that year and would've won if he didn't get hurt, and he is far from mentally weak, he lost in the second round due to an injured shoulder and wrestled all the way back for third and hurt his shoulder again and still won the match, he is the exact opposite of mentally weak

    • @emobuddha
      @emobuddha 8 лет назад +6

      +Donovan James Mentally weak? 99% of the people I know would've given up after losing the quarter finals due to injury and would've quite during the 3rd place match after being re-injured. He fought through the pain that's mental toughness if I've ever seen it
