You can technically put anything you want in a fridge. I store children I meet on my way home and they are cold and quiet, just like you want your PC to be!
Broo these ideas are insanely creative
Only the radiator or the reservoir shoud be placed inside the fridge but you will need a better pump for those long tubes and also don't forget to check for condensation if the temperature difference is too high.
Should be "Is putting a computer in a fridge a good idea?" No, it's not.
I remember back when they did this on the original channel. So I already know the answer 😎

What about vertical fridges or freezers? The ones that have their lid on the top, instead of a door on the side. Those ones are a lot more efficient in general since cold air does not get out much (because of higher density) and is not really dependent on insulation. Did somebody test this?
2:55
NEVER!
Carterpcs on this video as fast as a cheetah
Finally someone mentions it
@@swoops8659 me too
I have been wondering if that would work, but now I have a few different ideas of making it work. A compressor lowers the humidity or density of air in a fridge allowing cooler temperatures, in theory there's a couple ways to do it, if you can vacuum out the air before running the compressor that could help, or use a portable air conditioner connecting the cool air flow to the inside of the fridge at the same time. Just remove as much humidity before the compressor turns on is how I think it work.
You're only focusing on the condensation build up issue, not the issue that a fridge could not handle having a constant source of heat in it. And if you were to suck all the air out of a system containing a PC you'd reduce heat transfer by a fuckton which creates a ton more issues.
Very good points on this video Riley. I enjoyed hearing this and have a bit more understanding now. (:

Sending my PC to space for best ambient temp
inside a fridge and freezer is actually the driest place in the house hold (all moisture is drawn to the evaporator the part that cools the fridge/freezer) the only problem with moisture is if you remove something from the fridge/freezer that is colder than ambient temperature

Bout 2015 i used to shoot a live show on my phone, which had a badass camera. With streaming live the phone overheated... We got an extra 10 mins of air time by removing the case from the back of the phone and sticking it in the freezer beforehand.
I think the best solution is the one "insert Gigabyte/Aorus/etc since I don't remember" showed off a few years back where they dumped the whole system inside a fish tank after insulating it ofc probably with conformal coating.
Just let it go.

@@PineJayForge well the premium tanks are a big part of the game to be honest, also gambling with lootboxes
@@PineJayForge and without gold ammo it's almost impossible to pen these op russian tanks :/
My boss and I discussed this 20 years ago. Because of condensation, you would need a closed-loop system to all sensitive parts, with the heat being dissipated outside of...a vacuum sealed enclosure. Not feasible back then, but maybe...just maybe possible now?
If you don't open the fridge door after putting the PC in, you don't have to worry about condensation, as the PC's components will always be higher than the fridge's internal dew point. And if you unplug the fridge for a couple hours (with the PC running) or a day (without the PC running) to allow the interior to come up to or above ambient, opening the door isn't a concern. Not to say that it's a good idea, it's just fairly easy to defeat condensation issues.
Edit: autocorrect
4:12 - WOrld of Tanks, free to win? Games decided based on scale? xD Laughed my head off !
There are professional fridges that come with two compressors, maybe that could be the solution? Like fridges that are designed to cool drinks in a outdoor vending machine that might be in the hot sun all day. You could also take a PC to a nearby food place with a professional room sized fridge, that be a fun way to mess up the overclocking leader board because technically you could still call that an air cooled setup😎
Good thoughts!
Knew a guy that did this in college. Seemed to work okay, all the computer parts were in plastic containers with holes drilled for fans and wires. It seemed to run okay, but I didn't keep in touch long enough to know if they ever had any problems.

@@Neles2021 he was
"Not a problem for me" he said whilst having he's computer on a cupboard
The ideal way is build a cooler with automotive heat exchanger, like EGR cooler, one side flow through coolant, the other side flow through refrigerant instead of exhaust. Since you should have a temperature sensor port in the cooler existing, use that to control the compressor on and off, set the temperature to somewhere around 20 degree celsius, you don't run the compressor all the time thus no condensation. But you probably need entire computer water cool setup minus cooler and entire A/C setup plus electric motor and a heat exchanger.
ive always wondered about plumbing a watercooler setup through a freezer, i wonder if linus would try it. would it freeze the water if it was continously running?
I wonder if it would work to use a mini fridge (or even a mini freezer) not to hold all of the PC, but to hold the radiator of a water cooled system. Basically, the loop would actually leave the case and go into and out of the fridge or freezer via holes drilled into it. Inside the fridge or freezer, the liquid would then run through the radiator or maybe a cold plate, as used for commercial soda fountain setups. If using a radiator, then it might be advantageous to also rig a few fans on it to turn the freezer/fridge into a blast chiller. Biggest problem I can think of is that it could introduce condensation when the super chilled liquid reaches the CPU. In that case, maybe the fridge would be the better idea. Also, if the freezer idea wouldn't cause condensation problems, one might have to go with something a bit more robust (ie lower freezing point) than just water so it doesn't freeze solid in the pipes.
An ad with Linus on a Linus video didn’t know that was possible
Only techquickie would make a video like this
Riley was such a good hire at LTT. Give him a raise!
The BBQ picture they used is from Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood, Texas near Austin.
What about taking the cold air from the fridge to use as an intake but exhausting the hot air outside of the fridge not inside?
This is the question we never ask but we need the answer to.
What I did with my unusual installation: My PC is built in to a wooden box located under the floor, which is insulated in and out, and has a water-cooling loop that goes to a Honda Civic radiator located in the house AC output duct for an unused room. It has been very efficient.
I love watching my daily tech tips straight out of Super Mario.
Someday, some idiot is going to download ram, contract a computer virus, and blame Linus Tech Tips for constantly recommending it.
You could get around one of the problems by spraying a thin plastic layer over it, making it waterproof. Or put the whole thing in mineral-oil.
Am I the only one that now wants to see them try a freezer
They say if you download enough RAM, your computer will no longer produce heat
What happens if I build a pc with the same cooling in a/c and freezers to cool down your rig like Minecraft @ home.
Finding answer to this question was purpose of my life
*Techquickie: No, you can’t put a computer in a fridge.*
They’ve obviously never been inside a data center. 🥶
Server farms are basically refrigerated. Though for home use you'd be better off pointing an air conditioner (that is exhausted outside) at it.
The question I didn't know I needed to know
2:41 Yeah, more immediate concerns, namely supper!
This is all very interesting, but I still want to see Linus try it.
