I think Springfield Armory has done a good job building this replica. The only complaint I have, and it's petty, is that Springfield Armory should supply the triangle barrel cover with the rifle also; what was used when I was in the military. Yes, and a bayonet too.

I sighted it in at 25 yards with winchester whitebox and 855, then fine tuned it at 100 with the 855. Hit a 6 inch group with 10 shots, and I suck with a peep sight.

Maybe no plain jane AR is worth over a grand. Now get into actual quality brands like Noveske, Giesele and others of the sort and you absolutely will be getting what you pay for over a grand. But yeah, springfield junk definitely isn't worth what they charge.

It just means you have no experience in what you're talking about. But damn, 500 yard irons felt so amazing every time! Went to my local shop, the new owner wasnt sure about ordering one but was convinced by an old hat who told him it would for sure go, and whatcha know sure enough, before it even gets delivered to the store I am putting cash down to take it off his hands...
I had one back in 98 threw 2010. Bushmaster when they were really only game in town and made top tear stuff. This gun would sell many at under a grand. Only ones that might buy it are old guys that don't all ready have one or 3. Many a milinials but prob not.
Um..... as an instructor who has taught 100's of kids over the last 30 years may I suggest to get that youngster back on the bench and shooting over a rest and not off the mag (a 20rd mag will help as well, but you know this). Little things will help her with the fundamentals and to be more comfortable while shooting. She is tying to balance the rifle on the mag, no easy feat for anyone still learning. You can tell that she is intimidated by the noise. Just food for though. I'm glad she had fun and kudos for getting her to the range.
BTW I have built and own a 601, an XM16, an M16A1 and an A2 and A4 clones. All are built to authentic specs (of course semi-automatic).Then theirs the other 6 but they aren't historic more purpose built. I do not own one off the rack rifle.
I was raised or "cut my teeth" on an SP1, on my birthday, Feb 1981. So, you had no choice then. Learn the sights! In Sept of 85, MCRD San Deigo, PLT 3097, Lima Co, 3rd BTL, RTR, The A2 became the standard I lived with from Sept 85 to Feb 89. I've not forgotten. Truth be known, I still like the SP1 better but, I wouldn't say no to owning an A2. The cost factor always takes center stage. 'Nough said.
For clone correct, the M9 bayonet is the one to have. The M7 is cool, I have one or two for my A1 rifles. To help get the bayonet unstuck, fire a few rounds, lol

Doubt it, the 277 is going to mostly be used for marksman’s/dmr role and squad automatic roles. The 556 still has a long time left to go, especially since pretty much every NATO country in the world has finally adopted it making it the standard go to round for most of the world next to 762/308, 762X39 and 545. None of these rounds are going anywhere within the next 20-30 years

@@mysteriousman8769 PSA's H&R, Fulton, Luth literally all make carry handle variants. It's also not hard to assemble one for cheap. This is priced stupidly high when you can grab a H&R A2 for $900ish with an FN barrel instead of ... whatever this ends up being.

Nope.. when it got really hot it started to separate a tiny bit. but my old one would do that also so I think its the design of the handguard

Still have my original BUSHMASTER A2 from 22 years ago [post ban gun], shoots like a laser beam, I don't miss the flash suppressor.
