Here's my guide to avoiding fertility faux pas and getting real answers:

Maria Pizarro Sath hi Maria! It’s a good question especially when you’re still ovulating regularly. Is the Chance zero? No! But if you want to try naturally to see, it never hurt anyone to do so 😉if you were my patient (because I’m annoyingly positive and always hopeful), I would help you then if we weren’t successful I would talk to you about all the wonderful ways you can still carry a pregnancy. Mikylah Rawiri get your amh checked, ask your doc why your periods are irregular and ask for more tests too to figure out why. Diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. Hi! Thank you much for the information you have given I have 3 daughters ages 4 to 1 and I am wanting to try one more time. I had received the paraguard non Hormonal birth control and only had it in for about 2 months tops it was effecting me weird and I had it taken out at the end of Jan 2020 but ever since then I have had pregnancy like symptoms during my 2 week wait and a lot of cramps almost every day during 2 week wait so I’ve thought I was pregnant the last few months just to get negative and period come. When I usually only get cramps a few days before. I just got my period today June 15, 2020 and my cycle is usually between 30-32 days when should I start trying after my period? I have the glow app but I’m not sure how accurate that is
see if you can use an OPK too. Trying around cycle days 13-22 every other day would be one way to do it but if you wanted to pinpoint it better, using an OPK would help. I started to have regular ovulation and monthly period when I stop taking pills for my PCOS and my acne was lessen, why my OB scolded me because I didnt told her that I stop taking her prescribed pills? and another good news this morning I had my ultrasound to her my surprise my left ovary is now clear with pcos and the myoma disappeared.
Hello Dr. Aimee! I have really enjoyed your videos so far. I am a new fan as of yesterday :) My husband and I have been trying for over and year and we are both 28 years old. When my gynecologist told me I have 18 follicles on one side and 15 follicles on the other, I didn't really understand what that meant. Any chance you could go over what that means and what good FSH and other hormone numbers are in a video? Keep on doing great things!

stella grace I would get checked. Ask your doc for an amh level. That’s a good starting point. Then from there you can see what’s going on and if it’s normal then it just means some cycles could be a little longer than others.
Hi Dr Aimee, I have an implanon as a form of contraceptive. How can I tell how fertile I am while on contraceptives and what impact does this implanon have on my future fertility? I used to have regular normal monthly cycles before the implant and now I have far fewer cycles. Is my body still releasing an egg even if I don’t menstruate?
You still lose eggs over time when you aren't having periods. And that doesn't affect your fertility one bit. You can check your AMH level. It's an egg quantity test. It can give you an idea re: your egg health but mostly we use it to guide us re: how many eggs you have left. Your age is the best fertility predictor.

Had a miscarriage last year, but you need to track your ovulation
Buy an ovulation kit to see when you ovulate
A 28 day cycle does not always mean you will ovulate around day 14 every time, this varies monthly because of stress, our diet, and other factors that is why testing ovulation each month helps to make sure you are timing intercourse correctly
Unfortunately getting pregnant is not easy for everyone including myself, hopefully we all can achieve a healthy pregnancy and baby soon❤😉

Yes! apply my ANGEL Approach to your situation: A= get your AMH checked and see if your age is making a difference here
N = nutrition. make sure you're eating right and healthy and avoiding processed foods and getting folic acid
G = genetics: get your chromosomes and your partner's chromosomes checked.
E = endocrine: be sure to rule out thyroid/ diabetes and other endocrine/hormone issues
L = lifestyle: make sure you have a normal BMI and aren't smoking/drinking heavily/using THC/CBD and your partner is doing the same! Sending you positive vibes!!!

Hi Dr. Amy. I have PCOS and TTC, I constantly monitor my cervical mucus, sometimes I get clear signs of ovulation approaching or being in a fertile window but don't end up pregnant and don't end up having a period. Could you provide any tips for me please?

I think the best thing to do is set treatment goals. Here's how: Get your vitamin D, TSH, Testosterone, hgba1c, and cholesterol checked. Calculate your BMI. And now set treatment goals. If you can normalize your Testosterone, hgba1c and cholesterol as well as get your BMI in a "healthy BMI" range then you are definitely treating your PCOS and then you will have a better chance for pregnancy. When not trying to conceive: spironolactone, metformin, birth control helps. When trying to conceive: metformin, fertility pills to help you ovulate helps. And you can always take supplements like: Inositol, coq10, n-acetyl cysteine and lipoic acid. These supplements are natural supplements that can help.

Hello, DR Aimee. I just had a second miscarriage in a row the other week. I was tested positive for HIV last year, and just got my second smear test done this morning to see if the virus is gone. My question - does HIV increase the possibility of miscarriage?
hi Nokce. I think what you are referring to is HPV, not HIV. The answer is that HPV shouldn't increase risk for miscarriage. If this is your second miscarriage, do ask your doctor for a recurrent miscarriage work-up. This includes genetic screens, autoimmune tests, and tests on your uterus as well as egg quality tests.

Great question. Your chance of getting pregnant if a tubal ligation was done correctly is zero. If you are interested in getting pregnant either a tubal reanastomosis surgery or IVF would be the way to do that.

Thank you for this question. It sounds to me from your question that your cycles are 21 days apart. This means that you could be ovulating around cycle day #8. @@melaniedewah6856 Cycle day #1 is the day your period starts. Then every day after that is another day whether you are bleeding or not. Cycle day #8 = 7 days after your period starts.
Google it. “Ovulation predictor” and you fill in the date of your last period and your average cycle length. Take charge of your fertility and find out the answers.

Use an ovulation predictor kit to guide you. Have sex frequently up until 2 days after the positive test.

Nya You know from my videos that going to see a doctor doesn’t mean that something is wrong. I would get your fertility levels checked and same with your husband. Hi Doc Amie, I've been diagnosed a year ago with an adenomyosis. Do I still have a chance to get pregnant? I'm still 25 years old and my uterus already thickening more than my last ultrasound which was a year ago. What are the things and treatment that I have to do to get pregnant?
Fem Fabillar if you haven’t already I would freeze your eggs. I would have you consider taking birth control pills, NAC, and make sure you are exercising. Talk to your doc about other options like orilissa. These things could help! And yes you can and should still be able to get pregnant

It's possible that you could have an ovarian cyst, or skipped ovulating. Talk to your doc about getting your hormones checked and an ultrasound done. I would also recommend you talk to your doctor about getting an HSG done as well. You can also induce a period with progesterone and see if it will start that way.

Take the average number of days of your cycle, subtract 10 from the # of days then start having sex every 2 days for about 5-7 days before that. You will never miss an ovulation!
Hi Amy! This is my first time seeing your videos so I have more fun videos to watch later. I am 46, with 2 blocked tubes. It has been suggested I do IVF which is expensive and I have no money. I get my periods every month from 21-28 days. I have been taking CoQ10, a vegetarian prenatal, vit d3 which were prescribed when I was going thru my fertility testing back in 2018. I have stopped since then pursuing IVF but met my new husband and I want to have a baby. What are some options for me? Should I get the blockage removed surgically? I saw a lot of videos regarding Serrapeptaste. I was taking that and at one point going for Acupuncture and taking Chinese herbs. As you can tell, I am really trying to treat this naturally. Is there any help for me or should I just take it as a loss?
Rosemary Parks thank you for watching! I think with blocked tubes no matter your age the chance of pregnancy is zero. You can definitely be pregnant without tubes that are working. Get your AMH checked and then talk to your fertility doc about your options.

I use to have really irregular periods from 14-23, I’m 24 now and for about a year my period has been normal, I’ve had one every month thank God! My periods have always been irregular....but this past March and April I have gotten my periods, March 23 April 22 both five days.....I have been working out daily...lost some weight....so I decided to buy the clear blue ovulation tests..I took test on Monday May 4th came out with a blank circle....so I decided to take another the next day and it came out with a blinking smiley.....I took one today May 8th and there’s still a blinking smiley....I was wondering if those are accurate
Josefina Ruis they aren’t very accurate. I would consider proovtest.com as it can confirm if you’ve ovulated. Listen to your body signs too.

I would have sex starting cycle day #10-15, every other day. Folic acid is a supplement that can help with pregnancy health (prevent certain birth defects). You can also monitor ovulation with an ovulation predictor kit.

Gabriella Fritzie what happens with Bulimia is a hormonal imbalance. Your brain may not send the signals necessary to ovulate in a regular way. We call this “menstrual disruption” and it happens more often in women with eating disorders. Hi Doctor.. I am 36 old and ttc second time since 18 months with no luck. My periods are regular but got shorter. When we check amh and fsh we found amh as 0.13 and fsh as 10. Doc suggested me for ivf. Yesterday gone under hysteroscopy and within how many days can I go for ivf? Does ivf really work for me?

maimu Zainab enefola thank you! Just because you don’t see it on your toilet paper doesn’t mean it isn’t there. So that’s a good thing. I would do hormone tests like the fsh estradiol and Amh. Learn more about your egg quality at your age and take coq10 and see a doc. I tell anyone over 37 to consider being as aggressive as you feel comfortable being with treatment. It’s not easy to get pregnant at 42. So ask your doc what your chances are and what you can do to improve them. The fact that your cycles are every 28 days is a good sign!

Does it have to be extra virgin olive oil or will regular olive oil work? How much should you use?
I didn't test extra virgin and compare it to regular. I should! I predict there likely isn't a difference. And just use enough to lubricate the outside.

I would start having sex around today , every other day for the next 5 days. Ask your doctor if taking progesterone would be good for you. Also ask them why they think the pregnancy miscarried. Ask about any additional testing they think you should do. Sending egg whisper sparkles your way!

Specifically, I'm referring to hormones. The reason for your irregular cycles could be a hormonal imbalance: thyroid issues, PCOS, or low egg count. It's important to know the diagnosis, so you can treat it! No better time than now.

Hi Dr. Aimee- Thank you for sharing the insightful information. I had an ectopic pregnancy back in 2016 and had one of my fallopian tubes removed. My husband and I have been trying to conceive since with no luck. We know his swimmers and my follicles are good. Assuming it's most likely a tube blockage from scar tissue or hormone imbalance?
This is a great question. Yes, I would say it could be scar tissue and related to hormones. Easy way to check: See if your doc thinks an HSG is a good idea for you. And get your hormones checked. Just to give you a positive story in July 2021 I had an ecoptic pregnancy in my right tube that I had to get removed. After 2 months or trying I fell pregnant and I am now 15 weeks along with my baby girl. So please don’t give up hope. I took fertility gummies from Amazon and it seemed to work.
Is it possible to ovulate and not release an egg? If so, how likely can that happen? Also my cycles are every 27/28 days. Is that a normal cycle? Also lasts 5-7 days. Begins dark and heavy days 1-3 and then turns light during 4th day of cycle and then starts to stop around 5-7 cycle days.

Hi doctor! I’ve been trying for the past 3 months to get pregnant. I have hypo thyroid and haven’t had my period in over a month. Took so many pregnancy tests and all came out negative. Does my thyroid have anything to do with it?
hi Lety. If your thyroid is not balanced yet, then yes! It can affect ovulation. However do get your AMH and other hormones checked like prolactin and a day 3 fsh estradiol (once your period starts). Learn more and make sure you aren't missing something else.
I've haven't had a regular period my whole life I took birth control to have a period When I was younger but I don't know whenever I'm ovulating because I don't have period what do I do?
Find out why. It could be PCOS or a number of other easy to diagnose and treat conditions. Get seen by a reproductive endocrinologist like me and we can help you with a straight forward work-up and guide you from there.

It really depends on how far apart her cycles are. If a 28 day cycle, she'll be most fertile around day 14. You can use an ovulation predictor kit to learn more.

odiri ogezo what you describe seems like a normal cycle. If may be a few days later than you’re used to but it’s still considered normal. However if you’re worried, talk to your doctor. Have an ultrasound done and a hormone check to be sure everything looks healthy.
Hi, I have a almost 7 year old daughter. During my pregnancy with her two golf ball sized fibroids appeared. They were outside the uterus I believe and they didn’t regenerate. hi Alicia, I would see your ObGyn for an ultrasound. It would be helpful to see if the fibroids have grown since your pregnancy with your daughter. Some other simple things you can do: semen analysis (use something like yospermtest.com right now since it's harder to get a test ordered at this time), AMH hormone level to learn more about your eggs. Hi Asim. I'd use an ovulation predictor kit if you don't see changes in your cervical mucous around ovulation time. If you have a 28 day cycle, then have sex between cycle days #10-17 or so. If it's shorter or longer the days would adjust.

hi Bless! I think you know your body better than your period tracker. Your CM definitely suggests you were ovulating within a few days of March 10th. This would mean you'll find out tomorrow! And if you haven't already, see a doctor. Get some basic tests done. You can start with a sperm test, and ultrasound. Ask your doc to run some hormones too to make sure everything is healthy. Hi Dr. Aimee my periods have never been regular I'm 36 and started at 13. Im usually btw 36 to 47 days btw periods. My ob did a vaginal ultrasound and blood work. Egg Whisperer Show hi Dr.aimee, I am 35 and ttc since a year . My Fsh 6.69, LH 3.68, TSH 4.357, insulin 7.2 at the 2nd day of periods. I have regular periods 25- 28 days cycle. Done TVS on 12th day which shows hemorrhagic cyst in one ovary 1.7 cm and other ovary have 2.3 cm and also folicle showed 1.9 cm . 1. were you taking fertility pills when you went in for this ultrasound? If yes, this is a nice response to meds. It seems like you're going to ovulate two eggs maybe three.
2. if you went in on day #12 and you weren't on fertility pills, then I wonder if you may have endometriosis. Ask your doc and see.
I would also: take a look at your fallopian tubes and sperm quality. And please keep trying. Ask for an AMH level and ask your doc to explain what the possible problems could be so you can design a treatment that will hopefully work. I never used fertility medicines, just want to know that are these hemorrhagic cysts dangerous and is that the cause of not getting pregnant? What about the 1.9 cm follicle? Was that mature enough to rupture or if ruptured so why I didn’t get pregnant bcuz I got my periods . My report shows endometrial thickness is 0.8cm, no mass seen in mayometrium. No adnexal mass seen , no free fluid is seen in cul-de-sac and no lesion is seen in uterus. Can I take medicine for ovulation induction like clomid or letrezol? Please reply I am depressed :(
@@nishatkhan3662 you can! a 19mm follicle is totally normal. Get your tushy checked; Tushymethod.com and everything seems healthy. Ovulation is a chemical reaction at the surface of the ovary. When the egg (microscopic) comes out, the follicle is still apparent on ultrasound.

If your cycles are regular and you're seeing a light line, when you see the light line and the line disappears is the window when you're ovulating. The reasons is: the tests aren't as good as we hope they are. I'm sorry that you had to experience a miscarriage . Sending you positive vibes.

Hi Gabriela. Good news is that you're likely ovulating because of your regular periods. The next steps I'd have you consider with your doc: 1. check your tubes and 2. Hi Amy, I came off a hormonal spiral on the 4th of Feb this year. I used to have a regular cycle of 28 days before and during the spiral. I got my period on 9th March(41 days) after I removed it. Hi Juliet. You can start using an OPK around cycle day #12 and you maybe using it for even 10 days depending on the cycle. But you may want to talk to a doc about why your cycle length is varying. It could be a sign of something. The easiest thing to do is check an AMH Level. Ask your doc about this. Ask: Do I have PCOS or Decreased ovarian reserve? Other hormonal imbalances like thyroid issues can also cause this. Sending you positive fertility vibes.

What you describe can be a variation fo normal but it could be a sign of an ovarian cyst, low progesterone or other hormonal issue. I am not concerned about what you describe but you know from watching my videos I am a big believer in "asking more questions."
I respect you knowledge however I know a woman can get pregnant at anytime during the month cuz I have 4 boys an I got pregnant with each one at different times.. my first I got pregnant after ovulation, 2nd I got pregnant right before my period, 3rd I got pregnant on my period an my 4th I got pregnant the day after my period. You're actually right! If ovulation was within 6 days of sex, yes! Pregnancy is a sign of ovulation. And ovulation occurs at different times of the month. And you can't get pregnant if you have sex when you're not ovulating. The egg is in the tube for about 24 hours or so. But sperm? That's the disconnect. Most people don't know that sperm can actually be there even when ovulation is 6 days after sex! So that's why you're thinking you are getting pregnant when you didn't ovulate. You did. The sperm found the egg after sex, when you DID ovulate (sperm was sticking around and there at ovulation time).

Follow my approach: 1. get your PCOS levels checked: AMH, testosterone, hgba1c, prolactin, TSH, vitamin D, lipid panel, and metabolic panel 2.Based on the labs, see what needs to be fixed 3. Ask your docs what meds + supplements would be helpful 4. Make sure you're having periods every few months (induce them with progesterone ) 4. And consider checking sperm tubes and doing an ultrasound if it's been awhile. If you're over 35, consider IVF so you can preserve embryos for the future. Blessing Ofulue ask your doc why your periods are irregular and fix that issue. Do an AMH rest and see what it tells you. Make sure your thyroid and prolactin levels are normal too. And when you are cycle day 3: check fsh and estradiol. This will help!

I was diagnosed with primary ovarian insufficiency and I was already on clomid 100mg at the time of diagnosis so on day 3 after I completed the course I had my period for the 1st time after 12 months, so Dr was I menstruating or was it just bleeding.
If you’re bleeding three days after you stopped the clomid it could be from a number of things and the way to know: ultrasound and hormone level check

I would get your fertility levels checked. Monitor ovulation with an OPK and make sure you're having sex at the right time. See a doctor and see if they can do an ultrasound for you too. I would recommend taking prenatals and vitamin D(if your level is low) + fish oil + coq10 too.
