Jonah is another saucy favorite of mine, so it's nice to see a piece portraying him. I imagine he wore that exact expression quite often, lol. My impression of the sheep is Jonah and God having a Jesus and Peter moment. Jesus tells Peter three times, in various ways, to tend to his flock. Jonah received a similar commission from God and resented it because he hated Ninevah so much, but here are those lost sheep again, times three. Best and final guess. 😋
