@@avery3154 That's the ONLY issue with her, except maybe cooldown. It's pretty hard to gather enough particles to charge her burst unless you go monopyro or have a Nuclear Reactor like Raiden.

Not really, Diluc can one rotate abyss Lv100 ASIMON at higher investment with hypercarry team, Xiangling doesn't match that DPS at any investment (can't deal 300k+ melts hits like Diluc), she needs Childe for comparable damage. Xiangling is however much easier to play compared to Diluc+Diona melt team (that is one of the hardest team to master due to the strict timings).

There are only 4 outcomes I can see: 1. The Pyro archon does off field Pyro damage (Bennet buff situation) 2. The Pyro archon deals some damage and buffs (Xiangling buff situation) 3. For some reason breaking the trend from 1.0 she does on field damage (buff to both) 4. She has some unique condition that somehow makes her incompatible with atk buffs and generating energy (she becomes a sidegrade) Pick your poison
I can believe it. A lot of Genshin's combat design is not that good. Beautifully animated, but meh. Bond of life and Nightsoul are some of the most contrived systems to add when we don't have something clever like a Geo cleanser.
Its 2038, Star Rail, Genshin and Honkai impact 3rd have finally joined together to make 1 mega-game. All the Aeons have become playable, all of the herrschers have become playable, the 4 shades and the sustainer of heavenly principles set records whenever they re-run, Raiden Shogun and Raiden Mei have met in game and out of game in the hoyoverse economic zone stage shows, yet, somehow Xiangling is still one of the best Pyro DPS, she is in all teams that want pyro, we can not escape from Xiangling and Guoba, Its her hoyoverse, we only live in it.

Even IF Mavuika comes out and powercreeps Xiangling in every way, she will STILL be used and remain popular, for the simple reason that the only thing better than using Xiangling, is using TWO Xianglings. So you replaced Xiangling with Mavuika in International? Same thing with people arguing if xilonen is better than kazuha or the other way around. Dude, just use them together for up to 76% resistance shred and 80% damage bonus!

The thing is Xiangling experiments with new ingredients alot, even if at first glance they dont fit together at all. So unless you really messed up, Xiangling would always give your dish a good score solely for creativity 😅
If you think about it, Xiangling can fit in to every team except Nilou bloom. Hyperbloom? Slap Xiangling on there. Arlecchino team? Slap Xiangling on there. Neuvillette Furina? Slap Xiangling on there. Mono Geo/Anemo? Slap Xiangling on there. Alhaitham Quickbloom? Slap Xiangling on there.

The Power 4 (in this case Fischl and Xiangling) has both been a blessing and a curse for the game. On one hand, the OG 4-stars continue to carry my ass through endgame content to this day, but on the other, it becomes REALLY hard for the game to design future 4-stars that come anywhere close to the power of the Gang, even when they full-spec into their specific niches. I never realized at first why there had to be an Internal CD for Reactions, but man did they let me learn why real quick.

@Made-In-Heaven Sucrose is better than Kazuha for some cases (vape,melt) if you dont really need grouping since Sucrose requires less field time and she can set up double-even triple swirl
@@mothersday1869 well she is on niche side,the reason she was meta was because of hyperbloom was the best way do to insane damage compared to relying on a single main dps as none of the main dps were capable of pusing the teams damage above the damage of hyperbloom teams so kuki got insane usage rates,,but as we got the powercreep generation of dps like neuvi,navia,lyney,arlechino the hypebloom looked weaker and so did the usage rate of kuki fell and the old playstyle of dps,subps,buffer and sustain got more usage than the denro,hydro,em electro for hyperbloom and sustain playstyle.and the abyss also favored dendro reactions in sumeru patches.
When I first got Mualani I tried really hard to make a team without xiangling. But none of them were better than the ones with her. All I could think as I put her in my party was: Xiangling: you could not live with your failure, and where did that bring you? Back to me.
Imagine if Pyro Traveler ends up being the Xiangling powercreep that everyone is waiting for (I'll come back to this comment in the future to see if it aged like Wine or Milk) EDIT: Yep, this has aged like milk but he is still a very solid character and I really recommend building him if you need another Off-Field Pyro aplicator + Buffer

I love tighnari and he’s the only character I have triple crowned but tbh he’s only good in single target and even then falls behind against characters like kinich or alhaitham

They can't since it's under the law in China they can't adjust or nerf gacha character directly cause it cost money to pull. Thats why the only way is to indirect nerf her or power crept her
@@hehuho890 Zhongli was nerfed during Beta -> Live Game transition before becoming officially available. Those nerfs are fine because no one could spend money on him yet. The 1.3 *buffs* were because they overcompensated with those pre-release nerfs. Improving a product customers paid for is not illegal. Reducing quality of a product paid for is.
The thing is Xiangling is REALLY hard to build, as you need atk, er, em, pyro damage bonus, crit rate and crit damage which is the most amount of stat value for ANY character in the game while Arlecchino is much more easier to build (atk, pyro, crit rate, crit damage). So comparatively, your average Xiangling would be built way worse than your average Arlecchino
@@bao1964 well emblem is available in the strong box while arlecchinos best in slot is not yet. Also most players probably have decent emblem pieces, because its viable on so many characters.
Doing the character trial for Kinich, I realized that you can rotate around your target at almost the same speed as the pyronado. It's absurd, and is at the exact distance to maximize its damage; it has to be intentional at this point.
What I find most silly about Xiangling isn't how good she is at her best. No, it's how good she is at her mediocre-est. Like, she requires so little to be genuinely good, and most of it is incredibly accessible. Her best 4* weapon is completely free, and while The Catch takes a while to get, plenty of the other options for her are good. She has some ER issues, but her best set (second best at worst) is EMBLEM (which lots of characters like), so it's not quite as difficult to hit as you'd expect, and it makes weapons like Fav have a smaller impact on damage. And, of course, her best support is one of the best general supports, and she's off-field meaning he can buff two characters at once. With so many Genshin characters, you have to put in work to make them good. With Xiangling, you have to put in more work to make her bad.
THANK YOU FOR SAYING WHAT I WAS THINKING BUT A MILLION TIMES BETTER! What i use and love her for is teams inwhich my main dps isnt build good enough tobe able to carry all the team dps in a hypercarry style one so having her basically as you said doing more than decent and predictable constant damage no matter what team comp you throw her in is always great. A few examples from my crappy cursed account to further my point: My low investment, lousy build shougn does much better with XL in national team compared to her actual top meta hypercarry one (I even have c6 sara and chevreuse) With the new shark girl arfiact farming still not going well, XL + emilie are doing more damage compared to trying to go with buffers like kazhua or nahdia for em Pior to getting furina C2; because navia already worked great with bennett, XL was an amazing addition for alot of crystalize shards and pyro resonance (+ great offield dmg no less) My poor neglected ganyu atleast can clear the abyss when XL is helping her. ...etc Sorry for the yap just wanted to share how her very predictable and decent base damage as you have said helped me greatly. Is she always the best choice? Hell no, usually not even the best. Is she the only character in her niche? Nah, we have others like dehya/thoma/xinyan/burning with nahdia or emilie who you can agrue dont have the er issues/need bennett. Is she one of if not the most reliable subdps ingame no matter the circumstances? Hell yes which is what makes her soooo good being a bandaid for basically any team to easily clear even hardest lvl content.
I gotta correct ONE minor nitpick Xiangling is worse (compared to Thoma) if you're using her to burgeon because of the no ICD trait, Xiangling will more likely trigger Burning, which in turn makes your hydro chars do Vaporize instead of Bloom for said Burgeon
It depends on your circumstances. The fact that Xiangling still has *considerable* personal damage means that if you build her hybrid, or basically her standard build because she already likes a decent chunk of EM, her total damage output is easily higher than Thoma's. They have similar energy issues as well so he doesn't win in that situation either. I regrettably found this out after building my c6 Thoma for burgeon and tested them out side by side.
i dont think hoyo has the balls to make mavuika straight up stronger than xiangling because it would likely break the entire game's meta, even if she's an archon. at best itll be like yelan where she's better in some ways but loses out in other ways, but no shot mavuika is a better xiangling
It's more likely that Mavuika will be "Xiangling but better QoL". Xiangling's main downside is her ER requirements and really wants ER and the 4-pc Emblem set, Mavuika being rumored to be "Dehya but iPhone Pro" feels like her off-field damage and enabling capabilities would be tied to her E Skill rather than Burst. With the added rumor that she also buffs your party also gives her more options in teams. The real potentially game breaking thing however, is the possibility of essentially having not one, but TWO Xianglings on your team. If Yelan + Xingqiu and the possible Kazuha + Xilonen combo has ever taught us anything, it's that support characters who are supposedly competing in roles are surprisingly synergistic with each other.
Just think about it, Xiangling, Xinqiu, and Bennet (and probably Sucrose) doesn't have a powercreep even 4 years later in game, they have their own meta/role/niche and doesn't really change from version 1.0

Xinqiu still very worth using because interuption resistance, in Raiden national the healing are covered with Bennet but you can still get knocked, when you get knocked you lose 1-2 charged attack which is huge, and people prefer anemo than geo shielder, doesnt really matter anyway while im f2p and the chance most people are, and hydro is broken.
I was a non believer until I combined her with Beidou and Furina and thats it. Enemies just cease to exist. Any other addition to the team is basically just for the sake of having a full team.
Vars probably forgot to mention or didn't know that there a trump card for multiplicative reactions in comparison to transformative, which helps xiangling to shine even more - ability to snapshot Elemental Mastery. Yes, if you didn't know, when triggering transformative reactions only current EM is taken into account, so even though Fischl's Oz also snapshots, when triggering reactions off-field he doesn't benefit from EM buffs he snapshoted, only those which fischl currently has. Multiplicative reactions don't have such disadvantage. Including Xiangling
Which is also the reason why Sucrose is better than Kazuha in transformative teams even with his C2 The bonus is ONLY applied to active character and Kazuha, while Sucrose can boost all party members of one element. Also, she can even boost Dendro and Electro in the same time with Hakushin ring
@@Kaseus-lq7cj Nahida's passive states that only ACTIVE character receives EM buff. I dont remember if Kuki's ring snapshots or not, but it doesnt matter, because hyperbloom is a transformative reaction which only uses character's current stats
Xiangling is the one of taboo creation early characters series. Dev had known powercreep her means break the game. So they never make replacement until this day, it's been 4 years exactly. It is crazy to see a 4 star has absolute authority in dmg, flexibility and pyro application beyond 5 star.
Having powerful early game characters is good in a gatcha game, if you want to discourage people from pulling. Yes, that's counter to the whole reason why the game is gacha in the 1st place. But hey, if there are enough powerful early game characters, then at least that gives the game an excuse to call itself F2P friendly.
Understated in this video are XL's weaknesses: She has insane ER requirements which usually demand her to be alongside another pyro unit to not have to sacrifice large amounts of dmg She really wants a damage buff to snapshot. Without one she doesn't deal the same raw dps as some other off-field dps like Fischl or Emilie. Her cooldown is too long for certain dps that need to switch often. She is too stat hungry to fit in EM for burgeon. A XL sidegrade could give up some damage and not snapshot if it means less energy hungry, not dependent on buffs, and a shorter cd. The characters that still want pyro for reactions rather than raw dmg can opt into having that unit, like Mualani (who also doesn't want pyro resonance).
I just got a second copy of Engulfing Lightning this banner so i can finally give one to Raiden 😂 Xiangling is unironically the strongest unit in the game im not sure how its even debatable
I don't have her built and never used her beyond, like, the event she was introduced all those years ago, lol, BUT I was looking at her recently and realized that one of the aspects I believe make her so omnipresent is how freaking incredibly EASY she is to ascend. So I've been working on Thoma (but cursed with HORRIFIC artifact pulling go figure) and finding the regional mushrooms was just a pain in the neck. Xiangling uses a common cooking ingredient you can not only collect in droves, BUT happens to be purchasable from several NPCs as well, lol. The only way they'd have made her more user friendly is if her ascension needed fowl. People have also had a LOT of time to fine tune their Xiangling artifacts, too. New characters competing for the position run into the sort of problem WoW-style MMOs did way back when; novel for the first few levels but then why bother regrinding to cap when you can just...go back to what you already have maxed out/ invested in?
Early game I despised playing with Xiangling and other characters with 80 energy requirement, it just takes forever. But now she consistently has the most kill in my spiral abyss. What a frightening chef.

"Everyone plays Xiangli because big PP damage and the only off-field consistent pyro applicator" Yes some of us are sick of her but hopefully that will change when Mavuika releases then everyone will use her instead and this guy will make new video "Why Everyone uses Mavuika." I really hope that Mavuika will free us both Xiangling and Bennett. Seriously we have been stuck with both of them since their release (no one can do what they do).
Hu Tao does not scale off HP. She scales off of attack, which she converts her HP into. So Bennett IS still good for her. The only reason he ever wasn't is because his healing diminishes her attack bonus in a way that about washes with his ATK buff (before C6). And Plunge Hu Tao loves Bennett for his buffs and help proc'ing VV, since his healing is superfluous with Birdmom around.
True but because her abysmal base atk (lowest ingame even lower than barbara), hu tao may as well be thought of as scaling on HP as any atk% (or atk flat) substats adds much less significant damage increase overall to HP substats. Which is why if you try to play hu tao in a classic atk scaling dps team (talking about pyro resonance/bennett's buff/weapons like deatchmatch with good atk buffs) her damage potential is much less compared to HP buffing metas like hydro resonance/homa..etc. Also while bennett being a great help in plunge teams as u said because the pyro res vv sherd, mama bird's healing is already more than enough and usually its better to run her as the only healer because the pyro dmg buff from the low HP is greater than a max bennett atk buff for her (which is easier to get if your also running furina as well) is easier to maintain throughout the rotation compared if bennett is also healing (But if you count c6 bennett's buff then yes it out dmgs the low HP one although maybe hard to keep plunging in the circle impact only vs mobile bosses/wave content). Sorry for the rant just wanted to share why outside of certain situations like well investmented mono pyro hu tao builds, bennett is much better be used supporting other teammates.
@@agiant5715 You are wrong about flat ATK buffs (of which Bennett's is), as the lower your starting ATK the larger proportionate increase it is. So Hu's low base ATK is actually an argument *for* using Bennett. Whether it ends up being a larger buff than buffing HP to convert into even more attack is not something I've directly measured, but I strongly doubt the meager amount from hydro resonance is enough to outpace it.
@Glamador Before I start yapping I wanna say dont take this as me trying to just agrue as I liked your point of her in plunge with bennett but just wanted to correct some of your misinterpretion of her arguably confusion math. I get what your coming from but I wanna show you via math that extactly because of her low base number, its not worth increasing it. Case in point lets compare her atk increase with a fully maxed out atk% sands vs an hp% one. If we take her base at of lvl 90 of 106 and no other outside buffs for it the math for an atk sands is: (106/100)*146.6 which is 155.4 atk or only about a 49 atk increase. With her skill at lvl 10 giving 6.26% of the HP as attack and her base HP at lvl 90 being 15,552 the math is: (15552/100)*146.6= 22799.2 which then inputs into 22799.2*6.26= 1427.2 atk which is MUCH greater than the eailer 49 from the atk% sands. Now lets see if the flat dmg increase from bennett is enough to overcome stuff like HP buffs in the classic 2x hydro setup. Bennett's maximum atk buff with crowned burst and high lvl atk sword is 1184.6. Add to it him using nobless set for an extra 20% atk buff and another 25% from the pyro resonance. Because it was already stated eailer how hu tao is much better on an HP sands due to the low base atk we gonna keep it. The math is: (106+1184.6)*145% which equals to 1,871.37 + the extra from the HP talent lets to a total of 3,298.57 atk (for some werid reason the game adds the atk bonus from the skill after all the other ones in its dmg calucation for hu tao). Lets now see how she fairs with HP buffs like hydro resonance in a 2x hydro team (25% HP increase). Her new HP with the sands and the resonance is: 15552*172.6%=26,842.75 and then the skill makes this into an atk increase of 3,486.35 which as you can see is greater than bennett's version. And if you include other sources of HP buffs like Homa the difference becomes larger. Sorry for the yapping I just wanted an exucse todo some fun nerdy math but I have to admit I didnt know it was gonna be this close with only a 2k difference. Secondly I have to admit I have omitted stuff like base atk increase from the weapon and base atk/hp from the feather/flower (mainly because im too dumb todo all that math myself) and just with a fast glance it feels adding them would lead to bennett's team overall winning although probably with a narrow margin so in capslock so you notice this first I HAVE TO SAY IM SORRY YOUR WERE PROBABLY RIGHT but the margins are so narrow that if you include other elements like team buffs (furina/yelan buff for example) and how hu tao's bloody CA dash makes playing in circle impact harder then the non bennett teams still are much better overall. Once again I have to admit i didnt realise the potential for bennett and considering hydro offields are in high demand, hes honestly a viable option especially for a new player.
I think her damage is a little over stated when she isn’t vaporizing but her utility cannot be. The last two archons we got were roll consolidating off field dps and buffer so if mavuika follows that trend she is more likely to replace Bennett and make xianling stronger
One of genshin's biggest mistakes early on IMO was not nerfing Xiangling. Solely for the reason that it has held back character design for so long. We basically were not allowed to havea pyro off field dps for 4 years because of her power.
I do think that she's been so good at off filed pyro application that's she's essentially hamstrung any other pyro unit to try and take her place or try to contest with her simply because it will possibly break the game to have 2 units that can apply that much pyro
Literally the only thing I need to beet xiangling is a long range pyro off field application from a skill that lasts decently long, that is all I want for xiangling to be gone but the closest we got for that is Thoma and he uses his burst to do that…
One of the only main dps she actually doesnt work well with is clorinde, who's rotation time is too short to fit well with Xiangling Maybe hoyo will release more characters like clorinde to indirectly nerf xiangling
I think you might be forgetting Itto exists. I know, its easy to do. I guess if you wanted to shoehorn her into the team you could, but that means no Bennett.

10:15 yeah, that's not a Mualani team. At all. Bennett is a completely wasted slot, you're only buffing the Pyronado of a Xiangling who isn't vaping with him. You could run Amber in that slot and she'd barely be more deadweight. In fact having a Barbra you never switch to on that slot would be a larger overall DPS increase. Mualani scales with HP. The basic structure of burning Mualani comps is Mualani/Dendro/Pyro/Buffer. The pyro can be Xiangling. It can also be Dehya, Thoma or Xinyan. The buffer shouldn't be Bennett because he does almost nothing for the team. It can be Furina, Mona, Candace, Nahida, Yelan, Kazuha or Sucrose. Out of these characters Furina is the only one that forces you to run Xiangling, for the others your hydro application is slow enough that you can get away with a slow pyro applier.
You're forgetting that he's a healer. Probably still not the best for that slot, but having a healer that isn't going to interfere with your reactions isn't a bad option. Personally I like Yaoyao as the Mualani healer because no baizhu, but idk, I think you're overstating the issue.
@@shrimpchris6580 So is a Barbara that you only swap onto field to ult, she also gives a bigger damage buff and more consistent team wide healing. If running Barbara in this way sounds like trash, because it is then remember that Bennett would just be a strict downgrade VS running Barbara in that slot. Worse healing, worse damage.
@@Lankpants more healing/buff on mualani specifically running barb but you won't get as much energy, her burst is 80 instead of 60, and if you aren't using her skill, you don't get chip healing, so if you take a big hit you have to spend time on her longer burst animation.
I will never ever regret not building xiangling. She'll forever stay at level 60 watching my Homa being handled by literally every polearm char except her
I started Genshin in September 2023 and watch so many videos about how broken this Chef from Liyue. Because of that I have the privilege to avoid this chef for some time to clear my first spiral abyss without her. In the end she still slip into my team when I pull Mualani. What a cruel world 😂😂😂.
Getting Mualani forced me to build xiangling.. Now she gets her burst up before cooldown even as solo pyro (260 er with fav lance) 2p emblem- 2p cinder city.. All hail the Pyronado

I also used her with Mualani mainly because im not getting lucky with farming the new set yet so a usually better hypercarry style team like kazhua/dehya/nahdia (for em buff) I tested did lower overall damage than my team with mainly offield dpses of XL/emilie/bennett. I would switch to the better hypercarry style when shes better build but for now Im happy I can clear abyss with her getting helped with great side damage. Reminds me of how my shougn does a bit better in national team than her best hypercarry one of sara c6/kazhua or chevreuse/bennett because my low investment on her and objectively embarrassing emblem build for an ar 60. Basically using team slots to buff her slightly mediocre damage hypercarry style isnt worth it compared to offield dpses with predictable stable damage output
I actually really loved playing Xiangling. For two years of Genshin, I liked having a four star dps that I could use in any team instead of wasting all my primogems in the powerfull characters I didn't like. I love the way she twirls to shoot her pyronado, the way she attacks, her personality and voicelines. I am grateful, as she made my free to play experience a lot more enjoyable.

@@avery3154 That's the ONLY issue with her, except maybe cooldown. It's pretty hard to gather enough particles to charge her burst unless you go monopyro or have a Nuclear Reactor like Raiden.

Not really, Diluc can one rotate abyss Lv100 ASIMON at higher investment with hypercarry team, Xiangling doesn't match that DPS at any investment (can't deal 300k+ melts hits like Diluc), she needs Childe for comparable damage. Xiangling is however much easier to play compared to Diluc+Diona melt team (that is one of the hardest team to master due to the strict timings).

There are only 4 outcomes I can see:
1. The Pyro archon does off field Pyro damage (Bennet buff situation)
2. The Pyro archon deals some damage and buffs (Xiangling buff situation)
3. For some reason breaking the trend from 1.0 she does on field damage (buff to both)
4. She has some unique condition that somehow makes her incompatible with atk buffs and generating energy (she becomes a sidegrade)

All the Aeons have become playable, all of the herrschers have become playable, the 4 shades and the sustainer of heavenly principles set records whenever they re-run, Raiden Shogun and Raiden Mei have met in game and out of game in the hoyoverse economic zone stage shows, yet, somehow Xiangling is still one of the best Pyro DPS, she is in all teams that want pyro, we can not escape from Xiangling and Guoba, Its her hoyoverse, we only live in it.

If you think about it, Xiangling can fit in to every team except Nilou bloom. Hyperbloom? Slap Xiangling on there. Arlecchino team? Slap Xiangling on there. Neuvillette Furina? Slap Xiangling on there. Mono Geo/Anemo? Slap Xiangling on there. Alhaitham Quickbloom? Slap Xiangling on there.

The Power 4 (in this case Fischl and Xiangling) has both been a blessing and a curse for the game. On one hand, the OG 4-stars continue to carry my ass through endgame content to this day, but on the other, it becomes REALLY hard for the game to design future 4-stars that come anywhere close to the power of the Gang, even when they full-spec into their specific niches. I never realized at first why there had to be an Internal CD for Reactions, but man did they let me learn why real quick.

@Made-In-Heaven Sucrose is better than Kazuha for some cases (vape,melt) if you dont really need grouping since Sucrose requires less field time and she can set up double-even triple swirl
@@mothersday1869 well she is on niche side,the reason she was meta was because of hyperbloom was the best way do to insane damage compared to relying on a single main dps as none of the main dps were capable of pusing the teams damage above the damage of hyperbloom teams so kuki got insane usage rates,,but as we got the powercreep generation of dps like neuvi,navia,lyney,arlechino the hypebloom looked weaker and so did the usage rate of kuki fell and the old playstyle of dps,subps,buffer and sustain got more usage than the denro,hydro,em electro for hyperbloom and sustain playstyle.and the abyss also favored dendro reactions in sumeru patches.
When I first got Mualani I tried really hard to make a team without xiangling. But none of them were better than the ones with her. All I could think as I put her in my party was:
Xiangling: you could not live with your failure, and where did that bring you? Back to me.

Do Tighnari next, please! According to abyss usage rates, he sees a pretty high amount of popularity despite being on the standard banner, and his spread team with Yae, Nahida, and Zhongli regularly ranks in the top 10 abyss teams
I love tighnari and he’s the only character I have triple crowned but tbh he’s only good in single target and even then falls behind against characters like kinich or alhaitham

The thing is Xiangling is REALLY hard to build, as you need atk, er, em, pyro damage bonus, crit rate and crit damage which is the most amount of stat value for ANY character in the game while Arlecchino is much more easier to build (atk, pyro, crit rate, crit damage). So comparatively, your average Xiangling would be built way worse than your average Arlecchino

Doing the character trial for Kinich, I realized that you can rotate around your target at almost the same speed as the pyronado. It's absurd, and is at the exact distance to maximize its damage; it has to be intentional at this point.

What I find most silly about Xiangling isn't how good she is at her best. No, it's how good she is at her mediocre-est. Like, she requires so little to be genuinely good, and most of it is incredibly accessible.
Her best 4* weapon is completely free, and while The Catch takes a while to get, plenty of the other options for her are good. She has some ER issues, but her best set (second best at worst) is EMBLEM (which lots of characters like), so it's not quite as difficult to hit as you'd expect, and it makes weapons like Fav have a smaller impact on damage. And, of course, her best support is one of the best general supports, and she's off-field meaning he can buff two characters at once.
With so many Genshin characters, you have to put in work to make them good. With Xiangling, you have to put in more work to make her bad.
THANK YOU FOR SAYING WHAT I WAS THINKING BUT A MILLION TIMES BETTER! What i use and love her for is teams inwhich my main dps isnt build good enough tobe able to carry all the team dps in a hypercarry style one so having her basically as you said doing more than decent and predictable constant damage no matter what team comp you throw her in is always great.
A few examples from my crappy cursed account to further my point:
My low investment, lousy build shougn does much better with XL in national team compared to her actual top meta hypercarry one (I even have c6 sara and chevreuse)
With the new shark girl arfiact farming still not going well, XL + emilie are doing more damage compared to trying to go with buffers like kazhua or nahdia for em
Pior to getting furina C2; because navia already worked great with bennett, XL was an amazing addition for alot of crystalize shards and pyro resonance (+ great offield dmg no less)
My poor neglected ganyu atleast can clear the abyss when XL is helping her.

Sorry for the yap just wanted to share how her very predictable and decent base damage as you have said helped me greatly. Is she always the best choice? Hell no, usually not even the best. Is she the only character in her niche? Nah, we have others like dehya/thoma/xinyan/burning with nahdia or emilie who you can agrue dont have the er issues/need bennett. Is she one of if not the most reliable subdps ingame no matter the circumstances? Hell yes which is what makes her soooo good being a bandaid for basically any team to easily clear even hardest lvl content.
I gotta correct ONE minor nitpick
Xiangling is worse (compared to Thoma) if you're using her to burgeon
because of the no ICD trait, Xiangling will more likely trigger Burning, which in turn makes your hydro chars do Vaporize instead of Bloom for said Burgeon
The only time where no ICD is a bad thing.

It depends on your circumstances. The fact that Xiangling still has *considerable* personal damage means that if you build her hybrid, or basically her standard build because she already likes a decent chunk of EM, her total damage output is easily higher than Thoma's. They have similar energy issues as well so he doesn't win in that situation either. I regrettably found this out after building my c6 Thoma for burgeon and tested them out side by side.

i dont think hoyo has the balls to make mavuika straight up stronger than xiangling because it would likely break the entire game's meta, even if she's an archon. at best itll be like yelan where she's better in some ways but loses out in other ways, but no shot mavuika is a better xiangling
It's more likely that Mavuika will be "Xiangling but better QoL". Xiangling's main downside is her ER requirements and really wants ER and the 4-pc Emblem set, Mavuika being rumored to be "Dehya but iPhone Pro" feels like her off-field damage and enabling capabilities would be tied to her E Skill rather than Burst. With the added rumor that she also buffs your party also gives her more options in teams.
The real potentially game breaking thing however, is the possibility of essentially having not one, but TWO Xianglings on your team. If Yelan + Xingqiu and the possible Kazuha + Xilonen combo has ever taught us anything, it's that support characters who are supposedly competing in roles are surprisingly synergistic with each other.
Just think about it, Xiangling, Xinqiu, and Bennet (and probably Sucrose) doesn't have a powercreep even 4 years later in game, they have their own meta/role/niche and doesn't really change from version 1.0

Xinqiu still very worth using because interuption resistance, in Raiden national the healing are covered with Bennet but you can still get knocked, when you get knocked you lose 1-2 charged attack which is huge, and people prefer anemo than geo shielder, doesnt really matter anyway while im f2p and the chance most people are, and hydro is broken.

I was a non believer until I combined her with Beidou and Furina and thats it. Enemies just cease to exist. Any other addition to the team is basically just for the sake of having a full team.

Vars probably forgot to mention or didn't know that there a trump card for multiplicative reactions in comparison to transformative, which helps xiangling to shine even more - ability to snapshot Elemental Mastery.
Yes, if you didn't know, when triggering transformative reactions only current EM is taken into account, so even though Fischl's Oz also snapshots, when triggering reactions off-field he doesn't benefit from EM buffs he snapshoted, only those which fischl currently has.
Multiplicative reactions don't have such disadvantage. Including Xiangling

I dont remember if Kuki's ring snapshots or not, but it doesnt matter, because hyperbloom is a transformative reaction which only uses character's current stats
Xiangling is the one of taboo creation early characters series. Dev had known powercreep her means break the game. So they never make replacement until this day, it's been 4 years exactly. It is crazy to see a 4 star has absolute authority in dmg, flexibility and pyro application beyond 5 star.
Having powerful early game characters is good in a gatcha game, if you want to discourage people from pulling. Yes, that's counter to the whole reason why the game is gacha in the 1st place. But hey, if there are enough powerful early game characters, then at least that gives the game an excuse to call itself F2P friendly.
I always found people finding out how good Xiangling is funny since I always used her since the beginning as my main dps until like 2.0 or so

Understated in this video are XL's weaknesses:
She has insane ER requirements which usually demand her to be alongside another pyro unit to not have to sacrifice large amounts of dmg
She really wants a damage buff to snapshot. Without one she doesn't deal the same raw dps as some other off-field dps like Fischl or Emilie.
Her cooldown is too long for certain dps that need to switch often.
She is too stat hungry to fit in EM for burgeon.
A XL sidegrade could give up some damage and not snapshot if it means less energy hungry, not dependent on buffs, and a shorter cd. The characters that still want pyro for reactions rather than raw dmg can opt into having that unit, like Mualani (who also doesn't want pyro resonance).

I don't have her built and never used her beyond, like, the event she was introduced all those years ago, lol, BUT I was looking at her recently and realized that one of the aspects I believe make her so omnipresent is how freaking incredibly EASY she is to ascend.
So I've been working on Thoma (but cursed with HORRIFIC artifact pulling go figure) and finding the regional mushrooms was just a pain in the neck.
Xiangling uses a common cooking ingredient you can not only collect in droves, BUT happens to be purchasable from several NPCs as well, lol. The only way they'd have made her more user friendly is if her ascension needed fowl.
People have also had a LOT of time to fine tune their Xiangling artifacts, too. New characters competing for the position run into the sort of problem WoW-style MMOs did way back when; novel for the first few levels but then why bother regrinding to cap when you can just...go back to what you already have maxed out/ invested in?
Early game I despised playing with Xiangling and other characters with 80 energy requirement, it just takes forever.
But now she consistently has the most kill in my spiral abyss. What a frightening chef.

Hu Tao does not scale off HP. She scales off of attack, which she converts her HP into. So Bennett IS still good for her. The only reason he ever wasn't is because his healing diminishes her attack bonus in a way that about washes with his ATK buff (before C6). And Plunge Hu Tao loves Bennett for his buffs and help proc'ing VV, since his healing is superfluous with Birdmom around.
True but because her abysmal base atk (lowest ingame even lower than barbara), hu tao may as well be thought of as scaling on HP as any atk% (or atk flat) substats adds much less significant damage increase overall to HP substats. Which is why if you try to play hu tao in a classic atk scaling dps team (talking about pyro resonance/bennett's buff/weapons like deatchmatch with good atk buffs) her damage potential is much less compared to HP buffing metas like hydro resonance/homa..etc. Also while bennett being a great help in plunge teams as u said because the pyro res vv sherd, mama bird's healing is already more than enough and usually its better to run her as the only healer because the pyro dmg buff from the low HP is greater than a max bennett atk buff for her (which is easier to get if your also running furina as well) is easier to maintain throughout the rotation compared if bennett is also healing (But if you count c6 bennett's buff then yes it out dmgs the low HP one although maybe hard to keep plunging in the circle impact only vs mobile bosses/wave content).
Sorry for the rant just wanted to share why outside of certain situations like well investmented mono pyro hu tao builds, bennett is much better be used supporting other teammates.
@@agiant5715 You are wrong about flat ATK buffs (of which Bennett's is), as the lower your starting ATK the larger proportionate increase it is. So Hu's low base ATK is actually an argument *for* using Bennett. Whether it ends up being a larger buff than buffing HP to convert into even more attack is not something I've directly measured, but I strongly doubt the meager amount from hydro resonance is enough to outpace it.
@Glamador Before I start yapping I wanna say dont take this as me trying to just agrue as I liked your point of her in plunge with bennett but just wanted to correct some of your misinterpretion of her arguably confusion math.
I get what your coming from but I wanna show you via math that extactly because of her low base number, its not worth increasing it. Case in point lets compare her atk increase with a fully maxed out atk% sands vs an hp% one. If we take her base at of lvl 90 of 106 and no other outside buffs for it the math for an atk sands is: (106/100)*146.6 which is 155.4 atk or only about a 49 atk increase. With her skill at lvl 10 giving 6.26% of the HP as attack and her base HP at lvl 90 being 15,552 the math is: (15552/100)*146.6= 22799.2 which then inputs into 22799.2*6.26= 1427.2 atk which is MUCH greater than the eailer 49 from the atk% sands.
Now lets see if the flat dmg increase from bennett is enough to overcome stuff like HP buffs in the classic 2x hydro setup. Bennett's maximum atk buff with crowned burst and high lvl atk sword is 1184.6. Add to it him using nobless set for an extra 20% atk buff and another 25% from the pyro resonance. Because it was already stated eailer how hu tao is much better on an HP sands due to the low base atk we gonna keep it. The math is: (106+1184.6)*145% which equals to 1,871.37 + the extra from the HP talent lets to a total of 3,298.57 atk (for some werid reason the game adds the atk bonus from the skill after all the other ones in its dmg calucation for hu tao).
Lets now see how she fairs with HP buffs like hydro resonance in a 2x hydro team (25% HP increase). Her new HP with the sands and the resonance is: 15552*172.6%=26,842.75 and then the skill makes this into an atk increase of 3,486.35 which as you can see is greater than bennett's version. And if you include other sources of HP buffs like Homa the difference becomes larger.
Sorry for the yapping I just wanted an exucse todo some fun nerdy math but I have to admit I didnt know it was gonna be this close with only a 2k difference. Secondly I have to admit I have omitted stuff like base atk increase from the weapon and base atk/hp from the feather/flower (mainly because im too dumb todo all that math myself) and just with a fast glance it feels adding them would lead to bennett's team overall winning although probably with a narrow margin so in capslock so you notice this first I HAVE TO SAY IM SORRY YOUR WERE PROBABLY RIGHT but the margins are so narrow that if you include other elements like team buffs (furina/yelan buff for example) and how hu tao's bloody CA dash makes playing in circle impact harder then the non bennett teams still are much better overall.
Once again I have to admit i didnt realise the potential for bennett and considering hydro offields are in high demand, hes honestly a viable option especially for a new player.

I think her damage is a little over stated when she isn’t vaporizing but her utility cannot be. The last two archons we got were roll consolidating off field dps and buffer so if mavuika follows that trend she is more likely to replace Bennett and make xianling stronger
One of genshin's biggest mistakes early on IMO was not nerfing Xiangling. Solely for the reason that it has held back character design for so long. We basically were not allowed to havea pyro off field dps for 4 years because of her power.
No, their mistake was not buffing every other character to this level. Then we'd have variety and options. Imagine if Kaeya had 14s uptime and no ICD.

10:15 yeah, that's not a Mualani team. At all. Bennett is a completely wasted slot, you're only buffing the Pyronado of a Xiangling who isn't vaping with him. You could run Amber in that slot and she'd barely be more deadweight. In fact having a Barbra you never switch to on that slot would be a larger overall DPS increase. Mualani scales with HP.
The basic structure of burning Mualani comps is Mualani/Dendro/Pyro/Buffer. The pyro can be Xiangling. It can also be Dehya, Thoma or Xinyan. The buffer shouldn't be Bennett because he does almost nothing for the team. It can be Furina, Mona, Candace, Nahida, Yelan, Kazuha or Sucrose. Out of these characters Furina is the only one that forces you to run Xiangling, for the others your hydro application is slow enough that you can get away with a slow pyro applier.
You're forgetting that he's a healer. Probably still not the best for that slot, but having a healer that isn't going to interfere with your reactions isn't a bad option. Personally I like Yaoyao as the Mualani healer because no baizhu, but idk, I think you're overstating the issue.
@@shrimpchris6580 So is a Barbara that you only swap onto field to ult, she also gives a bigger damage buff and more consistent team wide healing. If running Barbara in this way sounds like trash, because it is then remember that Bennett would just be a strict downgrade VS running Barbara in that slot. Worse healing, worse damage.
@@Lankpants more healing/buff on mualani specifically running barb but you won't get as much energy, her burst is 80 instead of 60, and if you aren't using her skill, you don't get chip healing, so if you take a big hit you have to spend time on her longer burst animation.

I also used her with Mualani mainly because im not getting lucky with farming the new set yet so a usually better hypercarry style team like kazhua/dehya/nahdia (for em buff) I tested did lower overall damage than my team with mainly offield dpses of XL/emilie/bennett. I would switch to the better hypercarry style when shes better build but for now Im happy I can clear abyss with her getting helped with great side damage.
Reminds me of how my shougn does a bit better in national team than her best hypercarry one of sara c6/kazhua or chevreuse/bennett because my low investment on her and objectively embarrassing emblem build for an ar 60. Basically using team slots to buff her slightly mediocre damage hypercarry style isnt worth it compared to offield dpses with predictable stable damage output
I actually really loved playing Xiangling. For two years of Genshin, I liked having a four star dps that I could use in any team instead of wasting all my primogems in the powerfull characters I didn't like. I love the way she twirls to shoot her pyronado, the way she attacks, her personality and voicelines.
I am grateful, as she made my free to play experience a lot more enjoyable.
