Napom should have won the duel between Kenny and River. As far as I know Napom wanted it to be given to Kenny. That's why the judges chose Kenny. I read it somewhere a few years ago. I'm not sure if this is true.
I met Neil before he was NaPoM in 2012 at the first mid west beatbox battle back when we were all nobodies with just a shared love for beatboxing. Being friends while watching his journey over the years has been real inspirational. Great job, champ and big congrats to River for the win!

Napom took it, but gave it away with a slightly too long joke (3-4 seconds too long) and a drop that wasnt his best. If he shortened the joke and dropped harder in the end a clear win. Now it was debatable.
Agreed. The first joke was fine, the second one pushed it and the drop wasn't strong enough to pick up the lost momentum. That being said, I gave Napom Round 1 as well, and the crazy counter offset the ending IMO. So Napom took it slightly for me.
I know I’ve already commented twice but I can’t get over how at the end D-low is really comforting Napom a lot because he was describing in an analysis video just how much that feeling of losing hurts. I do think River took this battle but damn was it close in my mind. (Edit) after watching the battle again it’s not clear to me that River took it. Idk man.
For me river absolutely won. He were completely flawless and even brought up new things. Naomi seemed like he didn't even wanted to win and rather give it to River.
I personally think River's attitude alone during the battles is enough for him to lose. How he acted against Ice and Napom is just lame. Like Napom said, "You don't look like you're having fun."

Napom win 100-0 on battle points. both of them re-used techniques, but yes, it goes to River for technicality. River still used the same style, so variety is not really a good argument point, but yes to originality. Napom had the crowd, had variety on his first round. what he didn't have is three french judges in the judge panel ;)

the counter was... okay, i guess. River' still did the beat better tho and that's not really good if the beat that you're countering is slightly better.
Never ever been against a decision, but this one really hurt me! If Alexhino’s counter against Two H was the icing. Then Napom’s counter here was unimaginably insane!! What River does, the skill level is super high credit to that. But.. Napom deserved this both rounds, not by a landslide but an obvious pick that night.
I thought River was slightly more diverse in his techniques and also more well controlled. NaPoM wasn't quite able to exactly replicate what River did when he did that counter. Both were really good and NaPoM knows how to get the hype train going for sure, but on a technical level I think River did a couple percent better here.
Yes I think the fact that Napom won GBB before was like a back-head factor for the judges decision. I love River pls dont get me wrong but for me, especially in this battle, he was not at better than Napom.

been in this community since 2017.. and when the camera pans to the crowd.. river the guy is always there, i mean he is always there for every GBB offline event. I love that in all the events he attends, he not only attends but also learns a lot and can finally present everything he has learned over the years on this stage. it was a close fight IMO, but respect to the judges, you deserved this.
After watching it 5 times, I really think Napom won, he showed more presence and generated more crow energy, without mentioning he brilliantly countered one of River´s hardest moments Still congrats to RIver he has always show great level and musicality on his clean routines!!!
Definitely gotta go with Napom on this one. I like River, but Napom was golden here. He countered the big "wow" moment of Rivers entire second round, and delivered some fire in return. Judges got it wrong IMO, but big ups to both.

The problem is that the "counter" only worked for the crowd and the moment, from a judge perspective they might have taken in fact that his counter was literally countering nothing since he was doing rapid liprolls while river was doing rapid spitsnare combos while doing voice control, so I'm guessing that they preferred rivers structure and delivery over napoms power and presence
To my perspective, this is the real definition of a battle of 2 winners. There was no reason for Napom to lose, as well as there was no reason for River to win, ans visceversa, both got the best out of eachother and both could've been the mighty winner of this event. Huge congrats to both y orgullo Colombiano a River!!!!!!
This battle is the perfect example why provocation and fire is so important in battles. We can see how much effort both gave because they had both the fire in their soul to win it. Even for an ordinary listener like myself, Napom's second round sounded uncertain and not cohesive. It seemed like he was flustered and surprised himself, despite attempting to perform in his aggressive style.
