I feel like every early 2000's PC Spider-Man game has been cursed to be either be just bad, or be so bugged when being ported over that it is virtually unplayable. I owned the port for the PS1 game as well as the port for the first movie tie-in. Both had bugs everyone was experiencing, and the latter came packaged with so many bugs that you couldn't even get the tutorial started up. So sadly, this one IS in the field of being more playable. At least Peter doesn't get trapped in warehouse purgatory because none of the enemies that drop key items will spawn.
It was overally like that in 2000s that PC versions of games were hot garbage compared to their consoles counterparts. Devs just wanted to focus on consoles which were a bit more powerful then, than give any work into PC versions unfortunately.

Ironically, my favorite stage was the Mysterio one because it sorta worked like an open map where I could climb every building to the top. I got to the point where I'd explore the game's archives and find each stage separated in files, and if I tried to open it using the game.exe, it would put me right into that stage. It was awesome, I'd just use it to revisit the later train and warehouse stages. I love this little game

How it worked was that one of them would wait for me and then run away and call the others, BUT, if I approached him while NOT LOOKING AT HIM, but to the ceiling, he'd just ignore me and wouldn't trigger. So past him, I'd just meet with 4 guys looking at the wall, waiting for instructions and I'd just beat them senseless and move on with my life I'm telling ya, this game is gold if you dissect it

Kinda like Enderman in Minecraft Once you go past him up the hole on the ceiling, you can choose to either move on to the last door or beat 2 of the guys that are waiting in the rooms, call back the first guy to trigger the scene, beat him and the other 2 run away, like scripted Do never actually beat all the guys up there before calling the first guy up, you'll trigger the explosion that would scare them away, but the doors that should've been closed are going to close instead of staying open, and soft locking you. Trust me
could everyday computers back in the day be able to run a proper pc version of spider-man 2? I would believe not, so my guess is they wanted it to be more accessible, which I can respect, plus tbf it was one of the first spider-man games to be made for pc, so a lack of ideas for controls may have also been a reason. this game is not very good, but it at least seems accessible for little kids.

I hate this game. I completed today. I'm lost 3 hours of my life... The swinging is terrible. (The console version has the best swinging). It has 4 different attack, you can't swing, just on the webs, you can zip yourself to the walls, to climb. The game is buggy. I spend 1 hour at level 6, because I'm almost soft locked myself TWICE!

I hate this game. I completed today. I'm lost 3 hours of my life... The swinging is terrible. (The console version has the best swinging). It has 4 different attack, you can't swing, just on the webs, you can zip yourself to the walls, to climb. The game is buggy. I spend 1 hour at level 6, because I'm almost soft locked myself TWICE!
I feel like the swinging would be dope if it wasn’t relegated to certain icons you have to click on
