G'day Fishos, for a couple of novice fishermen, we did pretty well on this trip! The fish Gods were watching over us... Thanks for your support and your feedback/tips are welcome! Cheers :)
love waking up to the sunrise and hearing good times in the backround as i grill up some breakfast in the garden bacon, eggs, and raisin toast surrounded by GOD's beauty
You guys might want to look into a fish descender device. They have become required in some of the ocean fisheries on the west coast of the US. It helps get those fish that bloat up from being pulled up. Gets them back down to depth quicker and helps their survival rate go way up.
Love both your channels Mark, you thoroughly deserve all of your successes and wow, James is so much like you but we’ll still love him 😂🤣👍 Keep the videos coming please, best wishes from Britain 👍🇦🇺🇬🇧
Thanks for your support! It's fun making videos and being a RUclipsr but it's the support from kind people like you that makes it possible to do this long-term and full-time 👍🙂
Hi Mark Can you do a video one time (for newbies) of what it takes to clean the boat, trailer and engine after the fishing trip? It would be really helpful for people thinking about buying a boat but not having a clue of what it takes to maintain a boat. I know you had a video with a pro cleaner but I'm talking about the average clean you do after each trip and what it involves and how long it takes. Cheers! Peter
Yes, that's a good point about moving the boat after the fish. The truth is we are still learning how to move with the minn kota but we are improving each trip 👍🙂
G'day Mark and James, the kids and I love watching you on both channels before bed every night. They're mad keen gardeners and are at me to take them fishing now, especially my son James 👍 Given you enjoy your fish as sushi, have you tried growing wasabi? I've been successful with horseradish but not wasabi yet. Love the channel, keep enjoying that great corner of SEQ.
Thanks for your support on both channels, mate!I have been growing wasabi but haven't done any videos yet until I fully understand the plant. However, I can give you a growing tip: wasabi doesn't like our hot summer and full sun will likely kill it so what I'm doing is growing it in containers under a mulberry tree. In summer, the wasabi is in full to dappled shade but in winter when the mulberry sheds its leaves the wasabi has the extra sun it needs. So far, this is working well! Of course, you could grow it in a shade house but the ambient temps are still higher than under natural shade. Remember that wasabi naturally grows near streams and river banks in Japan. Cheers 👍
@@selfsuffishingme good on you Mark. Thanks for the tips. We're down in Monbulk, VIC these days so we'll keep trying the wasabi, the climate should suit. Keep up the great work and we'll look forward to a wasabi video in the future. Cheers 👍
Hey Mark quick tip , leave a clean wet rag on the gunnels or bait board and use it to pick up your fish for dehooking, it looks after the fish you return and saves some of the spikes in your fingers ,old towels are good Love watching you slowly finding your own spots and good ground Cheers from down south
The sounds on your vids remind me of the times going out with my mother on her Bayliner out in the channel in Southeast Alaska. I never caught much but I enjoyed the time with her and the grand scenery (she could catch fish anywhere! Inland, she caught a catfish in a mudhole!)
That time you think your not going to be able to “get it up” and the excitement when it does pop up and it’s bigger then ever . FYI we’re talking fishing here right. 😂😂
Bit of guts hanging out the bunghole... lol Watch our for those trigger fish, they have tiny mouths but they are powerful. I've seen a trigger bite a grinner in half like it was nothing.
Great video guy’s really enjoyed it👌 Yep some days are just stuff of legends😁👍 Hey Mark just a suggestion but my dad taught me probs 50yrs ago now when we lived up the cape an used to catch giant barra that with an egg beater reel you have a lot more control (particularly when u r into a really big fish) if u position the “tang” (the shank of the reel mount that is at right angles to the rod) with 2 fingers either side of it the reel can’t twist vs holding it by the butt?? Give it a crack I find it very comfortable an second nature now? Stay safe guys🤙
Hussers make great flesh baits. Whip the fillets off, scales and all, then cut into half pilly sized strips 👌🏼. Whack that down next time and see how it goes.
The pearl perch, please make sure you kill it and don’t leave it to die slowly in the air. It’s a great catch but I can see the pectoral fins still moving whilst you show it off to the camera. I love your channel and I know you usually end them straight away. Ex marine biologist just passing on his concerns. 👍
Does your fish finder have its own dedicated circuit? Had issues with Fatherin laws and RUclips research suggested having its own circuit. Did that no problems since. Gotta love you tube!, Sammy hinze ,Timmy turtle, rokkit , Robbie’s fishing the list is endless
Ikejime ending method makes the fish taste better and keep longer while making sure the poor little guys don't suffer too much AFTCO | American Fishing Tackle Company has a good how to video. 4 Steps to Ike Jime
Please be careful what video you watch!! There are people doing it wrong and uploading animal torture! but because they're fish, youtube doesn't take them down!

Looks like an awesome day of fishing! It's also good to see James become more comfortable around the camera. Good job guys!
The boys weren't just fishing , they were downright catching on this trip.

Fishing and catching makes for a great day on the water, the bonding between you two is better then any record catch.

Holy mackerel! Way to go Mark!
Awesome catch. What a father & son moment.

That's a great idea Peter! Yes, we'll put a cleaning video together 👍🙂
Hey Mark, use that MinnKota to maneouver the boat to follow the fish. I got so nervous when you passed the rod over the top of the bimini.
Yes, that's a good point about moving the boat after the fish. The truth is we are still learning how to move with the minn kota but we are improving each trip 👍🙂

Lovely feast for the family!
aweome video! loving seeing you guys fish. The species variety in the ocean is incredible
That chowder looks amazing.
It's trips like this that draw you back again.
well done guys!

Too tip thanks mate! I'm used to going bare handed but I think the rag tip is something that I will definitely try 👍
Oh you finally got your Pearly Good on ya!
Great to see you popped the pearly cherry.
Have fun you guys!
What an amazing day fishing! Congrats on a great haul! Thank you for taking us along 👍
Yay 🎉fishing update
Good stuff gents. Just remember bleed and ice Pelagics. School mackerel make awesome fish and chips..

Lol...👍💪
That's a whopper, Mark! Yummy, Mackerel. And, a very nice Pearly James!
your 54cm pearl peach is the same size as my fist and only pearl perch and art they good to eat
Transducer depth and angle makes it throw the bottom at speed, it may have moved slightly
Bit of guts hanging out the bunghole... lol

Thanks for the rod/reel tip! Cheers mate! 👍 🙂
@@selfsuffishingme too easy mate an can swap u some gps plots off Mooloolaba for some tips on growing garlic👍👍😁
Make sure your transducer is not kicking up after punching through swell. Maybe tighten up the screw? Have had that happen and won't read depth :)
Hussers make great flesh baits. Whip the fillets off, scales and all, then cut into half pilly sized strips 👌🏼. Whack that down next time and see how it goes.
Trigger fish are very good eating. Don't toss unless they're undersized.
Hey Mark. I'll join you anytime for a plate of that chowder. ;-)
Is it safe to use fishbones as pet food for your dog?
No
No, we take the bones out of the fish scraps before feeding to our cat or dog. Good question! 👍🙂
Nice work boys! You’s deserve those fish and I could feel the appreciation when watching. That boats got mojo now haha.

Use the minn kota so you are in control of the fish, otherwise the fish controls you.
Not sure about own circuit... I'll get it checked out 👍🙂
You're gonna need a bigger boat.
Ike jime would be worth having a look into rather than clubbing

if you wanna get into how it keeps longer and tastes better, there's a good vox video. The Right Way To K*** a Fish
